2020-2024 Toyota Highlander Second Row Floor Cup Holder Removal

- If you have captain chairs in your second row and annoyed by the floor cup holder in the center, all you need is a 10mm socket wrench in order to remove the 3 bolts.

I can't tell you how many "full reviews" of the Highlander I viewed. None even showed a clear picture of the cupholder, let alone how to remove it. Thank you for solving this issue!
I appreciate this…we have the same issue. I have 3 kids with 1 sitting in the back and the cup holders have become an obstacle.
I feel your pain, check out a more recent video I made removing the arm rests to create more clearance for the walkway. My kids used to snag their backpacks on it but not anymore!

Cant believe Toyota would put such a cheap cup holder on the floor. Honda has the option of having a bench where you can remove the center seat and store it in the back for the new Pilot.

Just bought those and they fit great even without a rubber band. Good depth for the kids drinks. Thanks for the help. Love the Highlander but surprised Toyota installed this garbage.

I thought removing the middle would be quick and easy like the 2008-2013 highlander. Looks like Toyota made it more complex in the newer versions
Yup, the detachable middle seat was amazing in the 3rd Gen Highlanders.
One of few things I'll miss about my 2012 HL once I upgrade to the 2022. The other is the liftgate glass window that opens up without opening the liftgate.
I need to remove that for my dog🐶

@Alex Puerta Are you referring to the interior map lights next to the SOS button? Those LED bulbs are soldered to the circuit board so I won't be replacing them. It's possible if you are willing to solder new LED diodes. If you go to the Toyotanation forums, there's a tutorial of how to do it if you are interested to try. Here's the thread.

The idea of removing bench seats in highlander and offering them as option is super dumb. Couldn't they just cup holders in the doors?

Have you think about to replace bench seat on the middle ?
I've thought about it but heard that the seat rails are aligned differently so I didn't want to modify or mess with it. I actually like the captains chairs and it works perfectly for my two kids. The pass-through in the middle is convenient for my nephew to walk back into the 3rd row seats while I put the car seat belts on in the 2nd row without having to adjust the captains chairs so I'm happy with my current setup.
Did you find a way to put bench seat in second row?
I never explored bench seats as the captains chairs are perfect for my families needs. That middle walk way is a huge benefit to quickly loading kids and accessing the 3rd row especially with the car seats installed.
