Willemijn Verkaik, Danna Paola, Myra Ruiz, Brandi Chavonne Massey, Saycon Sengbloh, Stephanie J. Block, Jessica Vosk and Shoshona Bean are the best elphies imo. But they all sound amazing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sorry, not sorry... Jessica Vosk is THE BEST. It's not even close. She is pitch perfect, her timing and nuances are on point, and the vocal control is just insane. I never get tired of hearing her sing
I literally just saw her on Friday and I had NO IDEA who she was- best performance of Wicked I think I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen it 4 times.
I had the privilege to see Vosk in NY on the 15th anniversary. She absolutely redefined the role. Unbelievable performance!

I respectfully disagree, in my humble opinion Shoshana Bean and Willemijn Verkaik have the two best voices and vocal gymnastics to handle such a technically challenging role such as Elphaba. These two ladies have the control and power and range. Jessica is a great vocalist but does not have the range or power these other two have.
@@jtat327 Just listened to both those women. This is what I love about singing, there are so many differences between vocalists, but that doesn't necessarily mean one is objectively better than the other. I agree that Bean and Verkaik have incredible range and air-tight control, but I find Vosk is the most pleasing to the ear. I don't know what it is about her voice. I think it's just because it's so clean and melodic. I find that when listening to other renditions of Defying Gravity/The Wizard And I, some vocalists can get so lost in doing it perfectly, they miss some of the artistic freedom that makes singing so enjoyable. ✌🏼

Jessica Vosk’s voice is PERFECT 🤩. My fav personally although you could make a case for a couple others being better.
For sure my two favourite elphabas are Hannah Corneau and Jessica Vosk . In my opinion they just bring such a unique take on the role with amazing vocals , I never get tired of them!

You left the BEST EVER ELPHABA out - ALEXIA KHADIME! No-one else comes close (IMO). She was in the West End production around 2009/2010 and they asked her back earlier this year to reprise her role as Elphaba! THAT'S how good she is! Her version of No Good Deed is absolutely spine-tinglingly amazing.

Omg saw Wicked in Melbourne last week. Sheridan blew it out of the park. Amazing. I also saw Amanda Harrison perform it years ago and she was incredible. Such a fantastic musical.
Sheridan has been doing well, I’m still a Jemma Rix No.1 fan, especially after she came back for 2 emergency covers last week. It was like Jemma never left.
This video was also created 2yrs ago so that’d be why we are missing Sheridan.

We need an updated version with Lucie Jones from the west end cos she’s absolutely killing it as Elphaba
Eden is my favorite but Alice…her ending aside her little mannerisms during held in such high esteem were a nice touch. She pulled off wanting to look composed and completely exploding from excitement simultaneously. Jessica Isn’t a favorite for nothing more than personal preference but I certainly see why she has the strong fan base she does.
One thing I really like about these compilations is that in the early years in Wicked, the Chord Progression under the Final Note, was slower/had a bigger Ritardando than what we've heard in newer performances of Wicked ( Ala 2009 Onward)

So much incredible talent, but Jackie Burns gets my vote for best overall, with an honorable mention to Alice Fearn. Also, can I just say what a joy it is to hear the non-English singers? I love it! Finally, I feel bad for Marcie Dodd as that is not the best recording to show off what I am sure is a great talent.
Oh, if there is ever a For Good version of this video I will lose it. For Good is my favorite performance from Wicked, gets me right in my feels. 😭 Thanks again for sharing!
While Jessica and Willemijn are my faves…. Jackie Burns and Teal Wicks have to be close seconds their voices are so strong and the acting is phenomenal

Not enough credit going to the Korean production. Her vocals are amazing, and that last belt is as clear and open as the top Elphabas on Broadway. I’d love to hear her sing it in English. The only thing hindering her vocals is the actual Korean, since a lot of the words aren’t belt-friendly. Great for lyrical lines that need a lot of diction though. Y’all should listen to her sing Defying Gravity, that last battle cry is the most frightening thing I’ve ever heard. It’s like the moment a little girl turns into a woman.

Yep, saw this in the West End Production in London with my Best Friend Sarah, and Kerry Ellis killed it (and they did a different ending ... when Elphaba was melted, she actually came back up through the stage floor and said, "They never do anything right ." I'm glad this is the only version I know. :)
Jessica Vosk's voice is clean, powerful, clear with a ping and an insane amount of resonance. She has a gift.

Shoshana Bean did Elphaba on 1NT in 2006
SJB also was (s/b) Elphaba for SF Tryouts in 2003
Eden Espinosa was also standby from 2003-2004 for Broadway
Dee actually closed Chicago so she did it from 2008-2009 because she took over for Lisa Bresica
Megumi Hamada played Elphie for 2007-2008
Kerry Ellis did a run in London in 2014
Marcie Dodd also opened the 2NT in 2012 and she did it in 2013
Willemijm Verkaik then went on to Broadway for a temporary run until Lindsay M took over in 2013, she then went to London and played Elphie from 2013-2014 then she came back for a limited run on London only doing it for 2017 when Rachel Tucker took over after her run for her second London run
