  • Within hours of making landfall, Apalachicola, FL was forecasted to take a direct hit from Hurricane Helene, with winds in excess of 110mph, and storm surge up to 20 ft. At the last moment the hurricane moved east and Apalachicola was spared a direct hit, but was within 50 miles of the eye wall. Three days later, we took the Grad-White over to Apalchicola to see for ourselves how it fared in the storm as well as to spend a few bucks since many people had evacuated and tourist were required to evacuate.
Check out our previous video of our tour of Apalachicola as well as spending the weekend on the Grady for the first time: • Sleeping On A GRADY WH...

Great video! We sure did dodge a bullet with this storm, thoughts and prayers for the many people that were affected.

Thanks! I remember what it was like after Hurricane Michael and without outside help it’s impossible to rebuild. Yes Stephen doing good, hopefully last surgery for a long time!

We should begin groundbreaking in November on our second home not far from the Bay City lodge. Once finished, it will become our primary home and we will become locals, instead of tourists. Thanks for checking it out.

You do a nice job with these videos. Good to see damage was kept to a minimum in some areas.

Thanks! Could have been devastating for our area, but feel so bad for the areas that were affected!
