Really enjoyed this episode. Just bought my son a real Rick 360 12 and I’m sending him this knowing he’ll appreciate how it’s wired. We also have kind of a shared style ...all the best...Chris
Thank you for an excellent video. Being an auto mechanic for 48 years, and understanding electronics, I was impressed with your demonstration and information.
Keep your electronics neat so the next guy doesn't have to clean up your mess - sage advice! Around my bench, nine times out of ten the next guy that has to clean up my mess is me... Very cool project, thanks for sharing!
So nice to see someone fixing the last guys “upgrade” to ric-o-sound. I almost wet my pants trying to get to the bathroom when I saw the two mono jacks but I started hyperventilating from laughing so hard when you showed how the three way was wired! I’m going to do an explanation video on how Ric-o-sound works with my 4003 one of these days. I’m totally going to put a link to this video when I do it.
Thanks a lot for sharing your acknowledgment, Master. I'm close to receiving my Roger McGuinn maple glow 370/12 Chicken and I'm excited to start with the correct wiring as you described. Once again, thanks!!
So glad I found this. I've been a Rickenbacker fan for decades. Had a 330/6 back in the day. Such an informative and entertaining video. You really know your stuff Bill. Really enjoyed learning how the thing is wired. Your explanation and diagrams describing the difference between the Gibson and RIC wiring are great. Thanks and Cheers from the Land Down Under.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience , I hope your work was appreciated by the owner ! Never been so engaged in the wiring of a guitar that I don't own !
Just got one of these Chickenbackers myself, looks pretty much identical to this. This video is very helpful for me to do the same rewiring. The other main part that's disappointing is the bridge, so I'm going to put on a 12 way version as well.
Yeah, the bridge/tailpiece are a bit of a disappointment but that was not the task I was contracted to correct, it was just the wiring which concerned me, that was enough. Other than those details they are pretty nice, especially for the price.
Hat's off! I do a side business repairing guitars - Fenders mostly - and if you were in town here, I'd be out of business - cause there's no way I wouldn't send people to you. seriously a beauty job. BUT - you said you'd show us your Ric with the P 90's! Well??
I agree but subscriptions are something given by other people, apparently only 450 or so people think it's good enough for a subscription. I appreciate each and every one of them and I hope to hold their trust and interest into the future or until I'm tired of the whole thing and pack it up.. Thanks Nick.
@@BustedJunkStudio I'm sorry to hear that. Hope your doing better. Praying for you my friend. Need you to get back to those good videos. Need some more good wiring tips!🙏
Can you show how to wire a two pickup Rickenbacker to work like a gibson control, two volumes up front, two tones further back. I find the Rickenbacker to always be confused. Thanks, awesome video.
I have a Chickenbacker 381 six string. Very well built and a beauty. Too bad they didn't make it hollow on the side of the guitar where the controls are. Amazing how well they made it. Pickups look right but they are not made like real ones. I think they are humbuckers but Toasters are single.
This is a fantastic video Billy - great explanation and attention to detail. I have one question - can you explain a little more detail about how you wired the capacitors to the tone controls? I see you use some additional bare wire first before soldering in the cap - can you clarify the connections? What I think you are doing is connecting the far left lug (of the pot) to the pot casing, the middle lug (of the pot) to also the pot casing and one end of the cap to the pot right side lug and the wire that goes the switch to the other leg of the cap? Is this correct? Thanks in advance!
Another problem with that guitar. The octave strings are upside down. They're supposed to be low-high. You've got them high-low. If you're going after that traditional Rickenbacker 12-string sound it makes a difference.
Only mistake I saw was the tones were on the bottom and I'm assuming the volumes wound up on top.. Switch might have been backward but that's an easy fix.
I think you should be able to Sue anyone that sells you a KnockOff guitar if they dont tell you it's a KnockOff guitar. Recoup your money and keep the guitar!!!
Don't have wiring diagrams on most of my stuff but yours is not a bad suggestion... wiring diagrams are far easier to follow but schematics is my bread and butter. Wiring diagrams that look good are not as easy to make as you might think but I will see what I can do. It's a good idea.
Excellent job on the Chickenbacher! Watching you work on the wiring with such ease and obvious skill and knowledge was a treat. Thank you!
I have to say, that might be the neatest wiring I've ever seen in a guitar, ever.

This video is going to help a lot of people out. Master level wiring job, Billy!
Views on this video are gained at a steady pace unlike my other videos that top out after a while. This is a pretty good performing video.
I went to watch a technical vid and got a stand-up….and a tech vid! What could be better

Your wiring is a joy to behold. The most important thing on that guitar is to reinforce the short neck tenon, it won't last long otherwise.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience , I hope your work was appreciated by the owner !
Never been so engaged in the wiring of a guitar that I don't own !
I like that you played a little of the intro of The Who's A Legal Matter when checking the finished sound.❤
You are a perfectionist. Super nice work. Your friend is going to love it. I just purchased a real Rickenbacker 360/12 C63 love it

Sir, you are a master of your craft. I'd love to send you my chickenbacker 370 for a rewire.
Loved this! Well done that man.
Excellent, excellent video. You are a Master Craftsman in deed!
incredible wiring! now all he's gotta do is get the right tailpiece lmao
Such a cool, informative video, presented in a very engaging way. You deserve many more views!
Glad you liked it!

what a nice job !
i hope the chinese ricken maker see this

Very interesting video. I know nothing about electronics but found this fascinating.
What was your overall impression of the guitar?
Another problem with that guitar. The octave strings are upside down. They're supposed to be low-high. You've got them high-low.
If you're going after that traditional Rickenbacker 12-string sound it makes a difference.
Which model Rick this supposed to be a copy of?

What gauge wire are you using?
Thanks

How is back ever pronounced bach?
They're a family of German crafstmen from of all places, Irvine California... go figure?
Can u make a diagram more like a drawing with the pots and wiring template, cause i understand nothing at6 you chematics?

@@BustedJunkStudio Thanks ! I will email u one, maybe u can see me if it's correct! it's small but clear.
@@BustedJunkStudio Is that possible to send u an image i have to have ur approbation on the wiring?
Backing noise is ruining the speech of the video.
Bad lighting, too dark!
It's perfect lighting, just what I intended. If you have a better way publish something yourself, I would be happy to give it a view.
@@BustedJunkStudio the work is, but the intro and mid scene are not!
