This isn't even debatable. Dr. Eggman is like the second most recognizable video game villains, right behind Bowser, and the Sonic The Hedgehog series is in dire need of better representation.
Putting "GET A LOAD OF THIS!" in the Final Smash instead of a taunt is not only the more dramatic for the line, something Eggman is all about, but saves us from what would be the new (and worst) spammable Online Arena taunt. You have done us a great justice.
You never said what his victory screens would be so here's some I came up with. Eggman hops out of the Egg Walker and plants down the iconic Act Clear sign with his face on it. Only for Sonic to zip past and flip it around to his own side, leaving Eggman to stomp the ground in anger. Another could have Eggman tossing a small woodland creature (Randomized between Ricky/Sally, Picky/Porker, Pocky/Johnny, or a Flicky) into a Badnik, closing the access panel, and activating it before cackling to himself as the Badnik starts moving around. The last one could have Eggman juggling three of the seven Chaos Emeralds in this hands, referencing the ending if you don't collect all the emeralds in the classic games.
Perhaps depending on the stock count of the match or depending on the lives of his own for example if he has 3/7 stocks left he’ll juggle 3 of the emeralds in his victory screen.
I know Death Egg Robot would probably be the final smash, but I'd really want it to be the Egg Fleet. Like just one of those Cinematic FS's, where the Egg Fleet just unloads all it fire power on the opponent, while Eggman rides high in the Egg Mobile laughing maniacally with his arms raised in triumph.

The more I look at the art of Eggman in the Egg Walker, the more I see the black parts next to him as his legs, like he’s sitting with his knees sticking out because he built it too small
For the smash introduction They should do the hero vs villain thing, but before it could finish the screen get's hacked and it turns red... Then we see the iconic Eggman symbol with Eggman saying something clever like "Thought you could sneak off without ah?" or "We intruppt this station for your new ruler, Me! BWAHAHAHA!" to tell the viewers the real villain is here.
Eggman in his sa2 Eggwalker but with machines from his classic boss fights built in is literally the exact concept I’ve had in my head for an Eggman moveset for years.
If Eggman gets in there is no way we don't get a mod which replaces his voice with his SnapCube real time fandub voice, Just seeing the Sonic Adventure cutscenes in this video makes me think of that beautiful dub.
While Shadow was and still is my most wanted Sonic character for Smash if we got Eggman instead i would still be satisfied since that means that not only would we get to hear Mike Pollock's Eggman voice in Smash but that also means we would finally have another Sonic character in Smash
Given how big the Smash team went for Sephiroth, there is a meager possibility that someone like Shadow could be thrown in as a bonus echo fighter alongside Eggman in an attempt to one-up the last character. It'd be amazing but extremely unlikely given all the extra work.
I've always found Dr.Robotnik/Eggman to be a far more interesting idea for a Smash Fighter then practically all the other Sonic characters. I guess it would also go without say that he'd probably have the same properties as Bowser Jr. where attacking the vehicle itself would do less damage but attacking Eggman himself would do more.
Honestly, Eggman & Chun-Li are probably next in line regarding secondary characters in already-represented third-party franchises. Both are way too iconic to overlook forever.

This was a prediction I made before Pyra / Mythra's reveal. Dr. Eggman could be a tag team character like Pokémon Trainer. The three playable characters would be Mecha Sonic, Metal Sonic and Silver Sonic. Eggman's Final Smash would be the Eclipse Cannon.

Honestly seeing a lot of people finally starting to consider Dr. Eggman after recent character reveals makes me very happy I've kinda supported Eggman on the side for a while and though I don't think he's happening anytime soon, but seeing a whole lot of Eggman discussion and him being one of the most characters with outcry about not being in the game after recent reveals is surreal when he was one of my "underrated newcomer choices" a few years ago
Sephiroth boosted Eggman's chances And for the next Fighter he is one of the most possible pics(however much I doubt that they will bring a character from a franchise that is already in the game after Sephiroth and the Aegis) But I still think the last two characters are going to be Retro character (Ryu Hayabusa, Alex kid or another old school character)/Fighting game rep or a big 3rd party character like Crash And the last one being Legends Arceus Pokémon Trainer saddly (makes sense if you think, Sakurai wanted Deciduey along with MinMin and Aegis, and rowlett is legends starter, the game haves 3 slots for characters afther the next character so 1° Deciduey 2° Fire starter 3° Water starter, and they can fill some Pokémon gen that don't have a rep in Smash)
Most people for a long time cared way more about Shadow and Tails, but I've always believed Eggman deserves to be the next Sonic character. Villains before sidekicks!
I can just see Eggman yelling "ALL SYSTEMS! FULL POWER!" upon initial activation of the D.E.R., saying "No way! I can't believe this!" when the D.E.R. Misses, and "You thought you were safe..? THINK AGAIN!" when he pulls out the second arm on top of the "GET A LOAD OF THIS!" when he fires either arm.
@SharinganSakura When it comes to a superheavy character, never assume something is broken, because no matter what, they'll probably be a trash character anyway. Look at K. Rool - people thought he was broken based on pre-release footage. Then they realized he was garbage, especially after the initial nerfs. Superheavies just have that magic touch to them that makes them way worse than the other fighters in the game (except Bowser...he's actually good for once).
His stage should be a touring one. Going from the death egg fight at the end of sonic 2 to seeing the death egg fall onto angel island, before it rises again in sonic and knuckles. Rinse and repeat with the doomsday zone chase back into the death egg
We’d finally get some remixes of Sonic boss themes. I’d like some classic and modern Sonic boss themes. There’s so many great songs for Smash. Doomsday Zone, Big Arms, Death Egg Robot, Time Eater, Egg Dragoon, the list goes on.
Most realistically it would be an "Egg Fleet" stage, but the ship the players fight on could easily warp through various iconic locations like the ones you mentioned

This was really good, I like that you were able to pull ideas from a wide variety of games rather than just a couple :) Giving him a hover by holding jump might work if it slowly descended (like in SA2) and didn't last too long (shorter than Peach's float).
I adore characters that can essentially rebuild the stage to suit their needs. It's just very fun to watch as everyone has to dodge all of your stupid bullshit while you're laughing your ass off
One thing that kinda scares me about this moveset is that Eggman does a lot of pulling levers and pushing buttons - so while his moves may take a bit to come out, if half, or even just a quarter of the animation is him pushing buttons, his different attacks would become quite hard to differentiate when it comes to the startups - effectively making the moves a bit faster than they really are.
maybe each attack has a voice line specific to that move. So the way to beat eggman is to remember every quote and what attack it will be just like in the sonic games. It would be easier for the slower attacks where you have time to still dodge but something like the lance attack you have to quickly remember what attack is coming. It could feel like a real boss character with clear tells on his attacks just before they're used but not so long they're too easy to dodge.
@@k-leb4671 Well, Bowser Jr doesn't push buttons at all - the moves just start. And it works, since the Clown Car has just enough "character" and personnality to work on its own. The drills, canonballs, trapdoors... they just sort of come out whenever needed, as if the clown car had a mind of its own.

I really feel like Eggman needs to be included. First of all I just feel like an other sonic character would be fun. Second, I feel like he's really iconic in fact he's one of my favorite villain and should be included in smash. Third, as much as the sonic franchise has it's downs recently, we should give them an other shot so why not smash and recreate the good old rivalry between Sonic and Eggman. Finally I feel like not enough villains are in the game Sephiroth was rather weird for me cause I never expected it and honestly I want Eggman in smash so I can be the mastermind I want to be XD
Eggman would be such a great personality to have in smash. Just like anyone, he has a chance, but isn't guaranteed. Honestly at this point in the pass, it's anyone's game. An xc2 rep was the only one I was sure of after min min got in, but now who knows. I'm kind of expecting an older rep akin to Terry next tho
Your moveset is great. I always figured the Egg Walker would be the way to go for a playable Eggman. My only complaint is that the idea for the Death Egg Robot sounds a bit too similar to Giga Bowser in Ultimate.

This was an awesome moveset concept! I've vouching for several Sonic characters including Dr. Eggman to see the limelight on the Smash roster! Man, while I've been having fun writing scripts for entire "Directs" of sorts in support of characters that would make great fighters, it's nice to see people just dive into moveset concepts as I find the simplicity of that just as enjoyable! Keep up the good work, dude!
I'd really like to see Eggman get in. I've really wanted a 2nd Sonic rep for a while now, but considering Shadow and Knuckles are assist trophies, and Tails got his Mii costume back as DLC, Eggman seems like the Sonic rep with the best shot to get in, at least for Ultimate. I really like this moveset concept you gave him. Only thing I'd change is his Egg Pawn special. It would be cool if you could summon different kinds of Egg Pawns, or maybe not even limit it to Egg Pawns, and have the player able to choose between a ton of different badniks from the series. Motobugs, Buzz Bombers, Caterkillers, Crabmeat, Egg Pawns with lances and shields, Egg Pawns with blasters, those bumper shield enemies from Casino Night (can't remember their names), etc. Maybe limit it to 3 or so different ones, and then let Eggman switch which one he summons by holding the special button, and selecting via a wheel like Shulk's monado arts. I feel like that would help play into the fact that he's a genius, and it would go even further into showing the doctor's creativity.
@@michaeleverett1376 Metal Sonic's a bit too big of a deal to relegate him to a single special move. I can maybe see him show up in the final smash in some way, but that's it. Edit: I just realized you were talking about him as another character, my bad. I love Metal, but I feel like it would be weird to get Metal before Eggman in Smash. That would almost be like if Bass became a playable character in a Smash game before Wily.
I do love the irony of "This character opens the door for other characters with similar traits!" even though it actually more likely closes the door for most of them for the sake of diversity. Hoenstly, when it comes to predicting who will be next, I find it easier to predict who it probably *won't* be. I actually find it much more fun to speculate this way because then I'm often excited to be wrong as opposed to disappointed.
I’m honestly gonna be so depressed if Pollock era Eggman never makes his way to Smash. Heading his voice and one lines knock characters off the stage would be magical
Honestly, Dr. Eggman makes more sense than Shadow ever did. Robotnik is an icon, while Shadow's 15 minutes of fame came & went. I'm surprised they didn't just replace him with Knuckles, but I guess someone has to be a slightly different version of the timer item. Anyway, I don't think the good doctor is going to be any of the last two characters in Fighter Pass 2. But I can see him being the next Sonic character in a future game... Unless there's a Fighter Pass 3.

Yes because we need * insert swordsman name here * because he/she is different from every swordsman because * insert excuse reasoning here * over a unique character. Also you can't make sonic reputation go any low because saga still have the classic fanbase to pander to and fall back on.
He could always "lay" the egg pawn's out the back of his walker, especially since this drawing looks more chicken like. Maybe he could even get a variant with a weak blaster, if he charges it a long time.
It would be cool if he had an alt that changed eggman to his classic “robotnik” look and changed the walker to mimic the original egg-mobile design as well
I think if we do get one more villain, it'll be either Eggman or M.Bison. those are probably the two most prolific villains for franchises we already have that arent in the game yet

Whenever I see eggman I realize...it's either him or Porky...and Porky hasn't been given a spirit (which thanks to min min and pyra and mythra) it would basically mean sakurai and the team just forgot him and felt he wasn't worth being in the game....but I really want eggman more than porky...idk what to think anymore

honestly... I would love to see them do the king k rool/banjo trailer again but with sonic sleeping with the group and the iconic laugh is heard. They all rush to the window, the looming shadow of a mech appears on the window and we see what they see... a shadow of eggman... until it's revealed to be wario given a boost by bowser jr, they both laugh together until they're blown away by a barrage of missiles and we see eggman enter saying something like: "Sorry I'm late sonic".
It would be awesome in Eggman’s reveal trailer, it would first show Marth and Link being blown away by a nearby explosion while Sonic rushes in to check on them and Link points to a direction and Sonic follows suit, then shows Banjo & Kazooie, Bayonetta, Joker and Mario struggling with whoever is causing all the explosions and Sonic does the same with everyone by checking on them and even helps Mario to his feet before Sonic hears “Long time no see Sonic! GET A LOAD IF THIS!” as Sonic rushes towards Dr. Eggman and his splash screen pops up. *DR. EGGMAN HAS THE MASTER PLAN!*
I think Dr Eggman has a very strong chance at making it in. In fact, I might be wrong, but I think he's more likely then most if not all of the heavy hitters in terms most requested characters including Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, Doom Slayer, Master Chef, Waluigi, Phoenix Wright and of course Sora. It seems Sakurai wants to bring more villains into smash bros, and if that's the case it would a disgrace to not include Dr Eggman, and plus the Sonic series really should get another rep, especially after seeing Sephiroth get in, he would be the perfect follow up.

Eggman, huh? While he does kind of feel like a bandwagon character, I'd be totally fine with him, and I do think one of our last two slots will be a SEGA rep. I do wonder what other SEGA characters might get in over him though, and right now I'd say only Arle Nadja or maybe another SMT rep might be picked over him. As for the Moveset, I'd say it's pretty fitting for the good doctor. You're really good at making movesets like that.
sega technically has 3 fighters already with sonic, joker and bayonetta, and yes, joker counts as a sega rep because sega owns atlus and yes, bayonetta does count as a sega rep because sega owns the bayonetta IP and half of platinum games

I've always found Dr.Robotnik/Eggman to be a far more interesting idea for a Smash Fighter then practically all the other Sonic characters. I guess it would also go without say that he'd probably have the same properties as Bowser Jr. where attacking the vehicle itself would do less damage but attacking Eggman himself would do more.
Honestly, Eggman & Chun-Li are probably next in line regarding secondary characters in already-represented third-party franchises. Both are way too iconic to overlook forever.
chun-li will be a mii costume and sega isn't getting any more fighters because eggman would just be a clone of bowser jr meaning he has nothing new or unique he can bring

We literally only have one mech user in smash, which is Bowser jr. Having another one would be cool, there is still room for another. Moves could reference many of his mechs.
Mecha Sonic is cool, metal sure, but silver sonic is so lame. He’d just be a crappier mecha. Metal would just be a slightly different sonic.

And the last one being Legends Arceus Pokémon Trainer saddly (makes sense if you think, Sakurai wanted Deciduey along with MinMin and Aegis, and rowlett is legends starter, the game haves 3 slots for characters afther the next character so 1° Deciduey 2° Fire starter 3° Water starter, and they can fill some Pokémon gen that don't have a rep in Smash)
Most people for a long time cared way more about Shadow and Tails, but I've always believed Eggman deserves to be the next Sonic character. Villains before sidekicks!

@SharinganSakura When it comes to a superheavy character, never assume something is broken, because no matter what, they'll probably be a trash character anyway.
Look at K. Rool - people thought he was broken based on pre-release footage. Then they realized he was garbage, especially after the initial nerfs. Superheavies just have that magic touch to them that makes them way worse than the other fighters in the game (except Bowser...he's actually good for once).
His stage should be a touring one. Going from the death egg fight at the end of sonic 2 to seeing the death egg fall onto angel island, before it rises again in sonic and knuckles. Rinse and repeat with the doomsday zone chase back into the death egg

We’d finally get some remixes of Sonic boss themes. I’d like some classic and modern Sonic boss themes. There’s so many great songs for Smash. Doomsday Zone, Big Arms, Death Egg Robot, Time Eater, Egg Dragoon, the list goes on.
Most realistically it would be an "Egg Fleet" stage, but the ship the players fight on could easily warp through various iconic locations like the ones you mentioned

This was really good, I like that you were able to pull ideas from a wide variety of games rather than just a couple :) Giving him a hover by holding jump might work if it slowly descended (like in SA2) and didn't last too long (shorter than Peach's float).

I adore characters that can essentially rebuild the stage to suit their needs. It's just very fun to watch as everyone has to dodge all of your stupid bullshit while you're laughing your ass off

One thing that kinda scares me about this moveset is that Eggman does a lot of pulling levers and pushing buttons - so while his moves may take a bit to come out, if half, or even just a quarter of the animation is him pushing buttons, his different attacks would become quite hard to differentiate when it comes to the startups - effectively making the moves a bit faster than they really are.
maybe each attack has a voice line specific to that move. So the way to beat eggman is to remember every quote and what attack it will be just like in the sonic games. It would be easier for the slower attacks where you have time to still dodge but something like the lance attack you have to quickly remember what attack is coming. It could feel like a real boss character with clear tells on his attacks just before they're used but not so long they're too easy to dodge.

@@k-leb4671 Well, Bowser Jr doesn't push buttons at all - the moves just start. And it works, since the Clown Car has just enough "character" and personnality to work on its own. The drills, canonballs, trapdoors... they just sort of come out whenever needed, as if the clown car had a mind of its own.
All of Eggman's taunts should just be his most spammed lined from the video games.

I really feel like Eggman needs to be included. First of all I just feel like an other sonic character would be fun. Second, I feel like he's really iconic in fact he's one of my favorite villain and should be included in smash. Third, as much as the sonic franchise has it's downs recently, we should give them an other shot so why not smash and recreate the good old rivalry between Sonic and Eggman. Finally I feel like not enough villains are in the game Sephiroth was rather weird for me cause I never expected it and honestly I want Eggman in smash so I can be the mastermind I want to be XD

Your moveset is great. I always figured the Egg Walker would be the way to go for a playable Eggman. My only complaint is that the idea for the Death Egg Robot sounds a bit too similar to Giga Bowser in Ultimate.
Maybe change it for a giant laser shooting from the space colony ARK, hitting the battlefield from the sky and creating a big explosion ?

Honestly. Because of sephiroth, and I really feel like eggman is missing from smash and wouldn't make sense without him.
This was an awesome moveset concept! I've vouching for several Sonic characters including Dr. Eggman to see the limelight on the Smash roster! Man, while I've been having fun writing scripts for entire "Directs" of sorts in support of characters that would make great fighters, it's nice to see people just dive into moveset concepts as I find the simplicity of that just as enjoyable! Keep up the good work, dude!
I'd really like to see Eggman get in. I've really wanted a 2nd Sonic rep for a while now, but considering Shadow and Knuckles are assist trophies, and Tails got his Mii costume back as DLC, Eggman seems like the Sonic rep with the best shot to get in, at least for Ultimate. I really like this moveset concept you gave him. Only thing I'd change is his Egg Pawn special. It would be cool if you could summon different kinds of Egg Pawns, or maybe not even limit it to Egg Pawns, and have the player able to choose between a ton of different badniks from the series. Motobugs, Buzz Bombers, Caterkillers, Crabmeat, Egg Pawns with lances and shields, Egg Pawns with blasters, those bumper shield enemies from Casino Night (can't remember their names), etc. Maybe limit it to 3 or so different ones, and then let Eggman switch which one he summons by holding the special button, and selecting via a wheel like Shulk's monado arts. I feel like that would help play into the fact that he's a genius, and it would go even further into showing the doctor's creativity.
What about Metal Sonic?

Edit: I just realized you were talking about him as another character, my bad. I love Metal, but I feel like it would be weird to get Metal before Eggman in Smash. That would almost be like if Bass became a playable character in a Smash game before Wily.

I do love the irony of "This character opens the door for other characters with similar traits!" even though it actually more likely closes the door for most of them for the sake of diversity. Hoenstly, when it comes to predicting who will be next, I find it easier to predict who it probably *won't* be. I actually find it much more fun to speculate this way because then I'm often excited to be wrong as opposed to disappointed.
The final smash should be the Egg Dragoon in my opinion, using the fire laser, the ice and the drill

Honestly, Dr. Eggman makes more sense than Shadow ever did. Robotnik is an icon, while Shadow's 15 minutes of fame came & went. I'm surprised they didn't just replace him with Knuckles, but I guess someone has to be a slightly different version of the timer item. Anyway, I don't think the good doctor is going to be any of the last two characters in Fighter Pass 2. But I can see him being the next Sonic character in a future game... Unless there's a Fighter Pass 3.

Whenever I see eggman I realize...it's either him or Porky...and Porky hasn't been given a spirit (which thanks to min min and pyra and mythra) it would basically mean sakurai and the team just forgot him and felt he wasn't worth being in the game....but I really want eggman more than porky...idk what to think anymore
Porky isn't a spirit because the Absolutely Safe Capsule is. He's trapped inside.

Imagine his reveal trailer pull a juke with Megaman getting his ass whooped, make the viewer think either a Megaman character is what's beating him/going to save him, only to reveal that it was Eggman all along, and when Eggman's about to finish him off, Sonic stops him in the nick of time, all as a fun nod to the crossover comic.
honestly... I would love to see them do the king k rool/banjo trailer again but with sonic sleeping with the group and the iconic laugh is heard. They all rush to the window, the looming shadow of a mech appears on the window and we see what they see... a shadow of eggman... until it's revealed to be wario given a boost by bowser jr, they both laugh together until they're blown away by a barrage of missiles and we see eggman enter saying something like: "Sorry I'm late sonic".

It would be awesome in Eggman’s reveal trailer, it would first show Marth and Link being blown away by a nearby explosion while Sonic rushes in to check on them and Link points to a direction and Sonic follows suit, then shows Banjo & Kazooie, Bayonetta, Joker and Mario struggling with whoever is causing all the explosions and Sonic does the same with everyone by checking on them and even helps Mario to his feet before Sonic hears “Long time no see Sonic! GET A LOAD IF THIS!” as Sonic rushes towards Dr. Eggman and his splash screen pops up.

I think Dr Eggman has a very strong chance at making it in. In fact, I might be wrong, but I think he's more likely then most if not all of the heavy hitters in terms most requested characters including Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, Doom Slayer, Master Chef, Waluigi, Phoenix Wright and of course Sora. It seems Sakurai wants to bring more villains into smash bros, and if that's the case it would a disgrace to not include Dr Eggman, and plus the Sonic series really should get another rep, especially after seeing Sephiroth get in, he would be the perfect follow up.

I would love to see Dr Eggman for how iconic and fun of a villain he is. Even if he doesn't get in though you can make decent mii gunner outfits for him at least, but yeah if we get one more villain it NEEDS to be eggman. Sora and especially professor layton are my 2 dream characters but eggman would be a joy to play :)
Eggman, huh? While he does kind of feel like a bandwagon character, I'd be totally fine with him, and I do think one of our last two slots will be a SEGA rep. I do wonder what other SEGA characters might get in over him though, and right now I'd say only Arle Nadja or maybe another SMT rep might be picked over him.
As for the Moveset, I'd say it's pretty fitting for the good doctor. You're really good at making movesets like that.
sega technically has 3 fighters already with sonic, joker and bayonetta, and yes, joker counts as a sega rep because sega owns atlus and yes, bayonetta does count as a sega rep because sega owns the bayonetta IP and half of platinum games

I do think Smash needs more villains and this video makes me genuinly want Eggman and due to it being Sonic's anniversary I don't think that 's extremely farfetched
