I’m kind of curious about “prison tats”, regarding 1) how common it actually is for prisoners to tattoo each other, 2) whether it’s allowed, and 3) how they do it safely/cleanly.
1. Very common. Basically every cell house is guaranteed to have at least two or three dudes tattooing. 2. It's not allowed. Not only is tattooing/possessing tattoo paraphernalia going to cost them a write-up, but the process of obtaining the materials for tattooing is difficult and might involve other things they could get written up for (destruction of state property, theft, possession of dangerous contraband, possession of escape paraphernalia, etc.). 3. There isn't, not really. It's one of the main reasons prisons have such a big problem with the spread of bloodborne pathogens among inmates.

Also, some of these places dont have heat, so you also have to provide with adequate underwear like thermals, and they have to be all white. Prisoners are charged for phone calls and for commissary, which is any food worth eating.
