I well remember my Cross Country Flight Test - very, very similar. Well done, Digby - and well done Damien for teaching him so well. So, Digby - you're now endorsed to fly anywhere in Australia OCTA - but you're also endorsed to keep learning! Safe flying, mate!
That was fantastic. Are you guys performing trial flights currently out of Caloundra? Would love to experience this in person instead of the sims. Aus Flighter Simmer sent me.
Great to hear from you. We are open 7 days per week and offer trial flights at any of our three schools, Caloundra, Redcliffe and the Gold Coast. For more info go to www.goflyaviation.com.au Thanks for subscribing 😊
@@GoFlyOnline Thanks for the link! May I recommended adding it into the video descriptions? All I could find when I searched was gofly.online which just has your training vids.
very basic question as someone just getting into flight simulators and aviation in general. During normal operation is he using the Autopilot to keep the plane level? or just using trim?
Hello Arthur great question. While the Sling 02 in the video has a 2 axis autopilot we do not allow its use during the nav flight test. Digby has to trim and hand fly the aircraft, it does take a while to master.😊 Damien
Hi Arthur - Damien is quite correct. learn and practice your stick and rudder skills first, before using any of the tech or mechanical aids. It’s the same with the Nav / Cross-Country training; you learn the non-electrical / electronic way first - paper charts, a whizz wheel (or mental arithmetic if you’re good enough), and a scale rule or marked off china graph pencil. And I recommend you keep a clipboard and paper charts handy even when you’re later flying with your iPad - just in case the electrics fail and / or the iPad overheats. This is what Digby was doing and what Damien was testing - he really only tested Digby for a short time on the iPad or iPhone just to ensure that Digby knew how to use it. basic flying training is all about that - basic flying - so that you always remain safe (aviate, navigate, communicate) even when all of your systems “go to Hell in a basket” - which can happen at any time! Enjoy, learn, and stay safe.
