@@jaretco6423 Swampert is a beast and I immediately started using it in Violet once I got the dlc. Also just did the 7star Swampert raid and caught that epic mon an hour ago. Gastrodon with chill water and earth power
There’s also Heavy Duty Boots, the ability Over Coat/Magic Guard, & special attackers that have either rock/ground/steel type. Other than Pokémon that can change/nullify the weather. And Pokémon with the move knock off.
The issue is that the only real remotely viable example of that is exactly Assault Vest T-Tar, who is good in specific situations, like when Chi-Yu was everywhere. He was more of a bandaid than an actual fix to the issue of Special Attackers not having that truly balances them. Assault Vest T-Tar is locked into only attacks, and has no way to heal, and thus, can be whittled down. Blissey does not have this issue, and is an overall better special wall because of it.
Swampert is still amazing. I use him in Violet thanks to the dlc. I still need the new 7 star Poison Swampert though. I used one of the strategies shown and immediately got stomped lmao
@@jaretco6423 Honestly don't know what NU means. I know it's a competition rating, but I'm not good enough to compete so I don't try. Also update, just beat and caught the 7star Swampert an hour ago. Epic and fun fight. I was up pacing as I raced the time lol
have been out of the loop with pokemon games for a longer time - and i am also not knowledgeable about the competitive aspect but this is nice to just see. thanks for talking about that
I wonder if there’s a part 2 to this list? Since there’s probably more Pokémon that have been staying consistent throughout every Pokémon game. And that’s provided if they’ve been staying consistent along with the mon being in the current Gen Pokémon games.
C'mon, you can't be that old yet, right? I bet some people think you look younger than you actually are. 😆 Anyway, another good list. What you did with the Blaziken bit was kinda funny.
Most of these I agree with just fine. Blaziken, I personally don't care for and think that Swampert is far better cause unlike Blaziken, it only has 1 weakness. So I don't necessarily agree with Blaziken being here.
Gengar.. Starmie .. GYRADOS and ARCANINIE and SNORELAX …. Will ALWAYS beat power creep . They are just built DIFFERENT …. And yes I’m a 30 year old man 😭😂
I mean people found ways to utilize Blaziken in OU for Gen 8. And a Speed Boost Blaziken that can boost attack, hit hard, and change its type? You BET people are gonna find strats for it. In fact, people already are.
Sorry but I'm not having Blaziken, sure if it gets off the swords dance or bulk up then yeah it can sweep but thats a pretty big IF and ive not seen it doing anything worthwhile this gen. Its the anomaly on this list
I almost intentionally avoided competitive play. It kinda ruins the soul of the game for me, personally. Not saying there’s anything wrong with it, but it’s a way too under the hood look at everything about the game and Pokémon for me.
I agree to an extent. It's cool to see which pokemon are good in a competitive sense and seeing some of them excel outside of their power level (Pelipper, Butterfree/Vivillon, and Ribombee come to mind). But yeah, reducing pokemon to their capabilities and roles does take a lot of charm away sometimes. And seeing well-beloved Pokemon (in my case, Rampardos) in low tiers does feel bad even if it isn't based on in-game performance
@@swagmonee5699 yeah, I mean I have nothing against people wanting to enjoy it that way, but back in the day when a couple of my friends got into the EV training and whatnot, I definitely realized I wasn’t about competitive play.
the blaziken line is probably the worst line design wise i've ever seen, a generic chicken and blaziken looks like a digimon, i still remember seeimg him in the johto leauge, i couldent believe its even a pokemon, this is where ken sugimori stopped designing pokemons and they went downhill
@@Mojaveknight17 if you find the video boring then just leave there is no need for you too comment on a video you find boring you could litterely just click off
I think all 3 Hoenn starters are still amazing
Mudkip is still my favorite. As soon as I found out I could have him in Violet, I went and got him. Same with Totodile. Now they're my water mon lol
@@bwestacado9643 Popeye the Swampert is still the 🐐
@@jaretco6423 Swampert is a beast and I immediately started using it in Violet once I got the dlc. Also just did the 7star Swampert raid and caught that epic mon an hour ago. Gastrodon with chill water and earth power
It's the only gen I always have problems picking a starter
Mystic: There is nothing to counteract special attackers.
Me: points to assault vest and sandstorm
There’s also Heavy Duty Boots, the ability Over Coat/Magic Guard, & special attackers that have either rock/ground/steel type. Other than Pokémon that can change/nullify the weather. And Pokémon with the move knock off.
@@FireheartSamurai I mentioned sandstorm specifically for the spdef boost for rock types
Yeah that’s true but there’s still counters to it though.

I don't watch your videos much and more of use it as background audio but seeing the old mystic is the video was pretty cool
Volcarona truly is the golden child of bug type pokemon in the world of competitive
Speaking of things that died young, what happened to your Gym Leader of Every Type videos?
Poor garchomp. Will forever be in my too 30 pokemon
GOAT
The only way Blaziken could get even more amazing is getting a Regional Variant or Convergent Evolution that is Electric/Fighting type
That would actually be so sick.
You mean iron hands?
@@maxdubs222 no
I so want that for Az lol it would be cool and it would tie in to the Torchic event they had when XY came out
@@assassinviii6477 I didn’t even think of that
Correction: the status “Frostbite” in Legends Arceus halves sp. attack. But only in that game.
Correction: it halves damage done from special attacking moves

Keep up the awesome work and videos love the video
I like how u made ya avatar look older 👍🏽
Had 3 of my favorite mons on this list. Blaziken, Dragonite, and Weavile

Blazeiken lost his signature move though lol least give him drain punch
I think Vulcarona is the number 1 Pokemon that still amazing.
Since most of us live till 80+ nowadays, you're not even middle-aged, let alone old 😂😂😂
My Boi darmanitan
Gyarados Gang reporting in 🗣️💯
Gotta love how competitive Pokemon actually tried to get Gliscor banned in SV. XD
I think tyranitar should be on the list
You forgot Charizard and Arcanine 2

Blaziken is broken in Reg F still. An insane sleeper pick
D-Dance Dragonite with neutral nature is the best mixed attacker in tha game.
Now do this same video except do the next 5 generations
I’m really curious as to what your opinions are for those gens
mystery dungeon music? 👀🔥
Glad someone caught it! :)
@@MysticUmbreon love all the mystery dungeon games so I caught it right away! :) think they’ll ever make another one or a remastered one?

actually burn and frostbite do not lower attack of sp attack, they half the BP of physicall or special moves!

Shouldn't the title be pokemon that are "again" or "back to be" amazing?
I almost intentionally avoided competitive play. It kinda ruins the soul of the game for me, personally. Not saying there’s anything wrong with it, but it’s a way too under the hood look at everything about the game and Pokémon for me.
I think this applies to many things that have competitive play. I feel this is the case for COD, Fifa/Madden, etc.
