  • I'm a big Shohei Ohtani fan and so it was reall fun to travel around Japan and see his face on billboards everywhere! Even before I left Haneda airport, I'd already seen two Ohtani ads. Almost half of this store, which is called Selection, is devoted to every imaginable type of Ohtani merchandise-- hats, gloves, pictures, bobbleheads, jerseys, signed balls and other memorabilia. Even though the exchange rate was very favorable when I was there, the prices were quite high! Perhaps next time I'm in Japan, I'll make an Ohtani pilgrimage to Oshu, where he was born.

If you're curious about what it's like to go to a Japanese pro baseball game check out my vlog on going to Hanshin Tigers and Tokyo Giants games. Wow...MLB has so much to learn about making a better fan experience. The passion of the fans, the fair prices of concessions, I could go on and on but just check out the vlog. I was blown away by the experiences I had. th-cam.com/video/eIWwbkquHTQ/w-d-xo.html

Japanese people, by and large, love baseball. They are proud of what Shohei Ohtani has done in MLB, especially this season with the LA Dodgers. I notice, one thing about Japanese is that they are not-in-your-face in expressing their pride of Ohtani's accomplishments, and remain polite.

No doubt! I hope you guys check out my vlog about going to Japanese baseball games. Look at the passion of the fans and how great the fan experience is compared to MLB, which is a real ripoff. th-cam.com/video/eIWwbkquHTQ/w-d-xo.html

Come on, this is a shop. I wouldn't say Ohtani is everywhere in Japan.
Last year I bicycled fr Sapporo to Kyoto then back to Tokyo and Narita.
I didn't see Ohtani's likeness at all. Even at Sapporo I saw the Ham fighters shop by the train station: no poster of Ohtani outside the shop, and I spent one night at his home town of Oshu. Nothing of him at the train station or hotel I stayed at.
