    Fantastic video!!! This video should be included for higher school syllabus. After 38 years of being born in Mumbai, I have finally understood what is the working principle of a Diesel Electric Class of locomotives.
    Thank you such an awesome video sirjee.

    अभी तक हम पटरियों पर दौड़ती हुई trans को ही देखा करते थे ,लेकिन पहली बार आपने रेल इंजन की कार्य प्रणाली को इतने सरल तरीक़े से समझाया कि सारी गूठ़ता स्पष्ट हो गई। आगे भी इंजनों से जुड़ी तकनीकी जानकारियां देने का प्रयास करते रहे। धन्यवाद।

    Diesel locomotives have diesel engine with electricity generator on top of boggies which generates electricity and pass to traction motors. But electric locomotives don't have diesel engine +generators, they get live electricity from power cables above, then why they have same size of diesel locomotives. Why they are not smaller in size when heavy diesel engine + generator is not there??

    • @EngineerGuide
      @EngineerGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      There is a Big size of step down transformer and Big size of oil cooler

    • @sohampaul1994
      @sohampaul1994 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Traction transformer, auxiliary transformer,converters,inverters,circuit breakers, compressors,traction motors, gearboxes, traction motor blowers, provision for hotel load,ht power handling equipment plus added ballast for electric locomotives is the reason they are as big as diesel locomotives. Weight is a good thing in locomotives since it means the loco will have good Tractive effort. Wag 9h is heavier than the standard wag 9 since it has ballast to improve it's coefficient of adhesion with the rails.

    • @Baljeettest
      @Baljeettest 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sohampaul1994 but traction transformer, auxiliary transformers etc etc are also required in diesel loco as these are related to electricity manipulations work and in diesel loco we are dealing with electricity after all. Isn't it?
      As per my understanding, apart from diesel engine, rest everything is same in electric loco.
