They are so underrated in the rock genre that has alot of synth. Cold as ice/waiting for a girl like you/Double vision/That was Yesterday/Feels like the first time -and on and on😅
Love Foreigner!!! The drum playing on this song is called, "pocket playing." A term among drummers that the rhythm of the beat stays consistently the same throughout a song without deviations.
Foreigners are an iconic band ..And that voice is absolutely dynamic 🎉 and this one certainly packs a punch ! Wow the musicianship back then ,let's face it was phenomenal ❤
I am so glad you finally listened to this song. This is one of the all-time greatest rocks songs of the 1980s, and that saxophone solo is just epic! This song just made you wanna drive faster when it came on the radio in the car!
When I was 12, and recently lost my dad to an unknown heart defect, my mother insisted I go into school and pick an instrument, and I "was going to join the band! Period" I stormed into my room, cranked my stereo, and this song came on in my defiant, teenage pout fit. I heard this sax solo and the next morning, I was playing saxophone. Later I picked up trumpet, bass, and guitar, and a little piano. ALL BECAUSE I HEARD THIS SONG IN 1981.
Urgent is, without doubt, my favorite rock song. Yes, it has some great pop hooks, but the vibe, voice and sax solo just make for an unparalleled listening experience.
Mark Rivera on saxophone. We've seen him on Billy Joel's live version of "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant". Played air guitar on his sax on that one, too.
This song is a banger. It was influenced by a song in development titled “Urges” by Thomas Dolby (of later “She Blinded Me With Science” fame) called “Urge” which had a chorus “urges, urges”. Producer Mutt Lange asked Dolby permission to incorporate the chorus into the song, changed it from “urges, urges” to “urgent, urgent” for the track “Urgent”. The song and the album “Foreigner 4” marked the band incorporating synths into their pop rock sound. Producer Mutt Lange brought Dolby in to perform and program the keyboards and synths on the album and it paid off hugely. “Foreigner 4” became a massive smash. It was the biggest album in their career. It spent ten non-consecutive weeks at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 Album Chart and was certified 7x Platinum by the RIAA, selling over 6 million copies in the U.S. alone and a combined 7 million worldwide.
Great reaction, Man...as usual. Yes, I was only 7, when, "Urgent" was on the radio...but, even I knew this was a cool Rock 'N' Roll track. Yes, that saxophone is nasty in the best way...
This song is catchy AF, if not one of the all-time earworms. When I was growing up and Foreigner first appeared on the scene, I thought they were Rock for girls (I was into Zeppelin, Rush, Yes, Pink Floyd, ext), but their songs were so catchy and relatable that I soon became a fan. Also, Lou Graham's vocals are some of the very best in music history. That guy can sang!
It's interesting to hear your take on something you're hearing for the first time, but that I sort of grew up with. Music just sort of morphed from the 70s to 80s without me really noticing much change from late 70s to early 80s ... it was just a new song that came out. I sang along with it on the radio and never picked it apart. It's fun to hear a fresh take. 🙂
‘4’ is my favorite album! I’ve wore 3 LPs out. Lou Graham’s voice is riveting. I wish more contemporary groups sang and played instruments instead of sampling other artists music.
TIGHTROPE by ELO, It's more than a masterpiece, it's unbelievable, you won't hear anything like it, this will blow your mind, l can't believe how amazing it is. I love to watch your reactions on ELO, this one you'll never forget ❤
Sounds like you may not have liked this one as much as others (including me). It’s okay, no harm no foul. At least that is my take on your RX. Love your channel

They FINALLY made it into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. One of my favorite bands ever. Lou Grammatico aka Gramm is a great vocalist.
Hell yes! They ruled the 70s and 80s!
It was about time!
It was a horrible induction.
🌹 Love me some Foreigner...💋
Foreigner was huge back then. They gave me some great tunes to listen to in the 70s and 80s when I was in junior high and high school.
Can’t go wrong with Foreigner, I highly recommend dirty white boy 🔥
They are so underrated in the rock genre that has alot of synth. Cold as ice/waiting for a girl like you/Double vision/That was Yesterday/Feels like the first time -and on and on😅
They were never underrated when they came out.
I urgently smashed thumbs up on this. One of the best!
Great song! great Sax! love the beat and the energy. Vocals are amazing, always loved this song since it came out
You're not shy.
You get around.
You wanna fly, don't want your feet on the ground... It's one of the very most recognized vocal intros.... WHOOOOP❤️💪
Love Foreigner!!! The drum playing on this song is called, "pocket playing." A term among drummers that the rhythm of the beat stays consistently the same throughout a song without deviations.
Omg! I grew up with this band. I am in awe listening to them now. Like I am appreciating them more. Wow! ❤❤
I appreciate it all a little more each day as I look on the chaos of today.
I saw them in concert in 79 and 81,They never disappoint in concert.
Lou has such a great voice. The whole Foreigner 4 album is really good.🤘

Foreigner is underrated. They have so many great hits. Some of my favorites- Head Games, Feels like the first time and Jukebox Hero.
They were never underrated. Lol. Did you grow up then?
The sax may be the best of all time.

Check out Midnight Blue from Lou Gramm' solo career.
Their best song
This was such a popular song & reminds me of my days at the Rollerskating Rink 😊
Mark Rivera on saxophone. We've seen him on Billy Joel's live version of "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant". Played air guitar on his sax on that one, too.
Mark Rivera in the video, but Junior Walker did the solo on the recording.
Pretty...pretty...pretty good! Those pipes!!!
Man that takes me back to high school
Man I love that sax and Lou Gramm's voice!

One of my favourite bands, my time ❤❤
Lou's voice ever so slightly reminds me of John Farnham.
Mick Jones has written some of the best songs OF ALL TIME! Foreigner is definitely one of the best bands of all time.
This one bring back some great memories of days gone by... 😉🤫
Foreigner is just awesome with Lou. The 70s and 80s were so much fun with them.
Love it. Do more Foreigner!
It’s a perfect club song great for dancing
The saxophonist with the mustaches is Mark Rivera, and since 1982 he becomes a ufficial member of the Billy joel band .
This entire album is 🔥🔥
