I finally grew up and bought myself a house. Was built in the 70s and is a true vintage gem :) But this is a tour of the house before I move in and my future plans for the house
I love how much of the house you love and appreciate. 70s style is getting popularnagain, but even if it wasn't, its so nice to preserve the character of a house.
The "slats" that you are talking about at 11:36 are hand-hewn wood. Meaning they were hand cut in a saw mill or by hand and those are the actual saw marks. Modern wood is put through an intense finishing/sanding process that they didn't do a long time ago. They may be really old or not.
If it were me I'd get rid of that "sun room" and expand the deck back into it. Also, I love the orange shag carpet... but not so much in the bathroom. You have some solid ideas for the house though and I can't wait to see how it progresses.
You could also make the first original part of the garage part of the house to really increase living space. and just use the add on garage. Unless you are set on having 4 cars.also for master bath you could build out towards back a little so you can keep the toilet and expand the shower. And couldn’t have a door that swings out instead of in to the bathroom or get one of those sliding doors for bathroom
Nice! There's a lot of potential there. The kitchen reno will be sweet. Taking walls down and opening it up will be sweet. Also the master bath renovation will be nice. I can't decide what would be better to lose the washer and dryer or the walk in closet. I have to say moving my washer and dryer upstairs after being in my house over 10 years was the best thing I ever did. Hauling dirty layndry down stairs is a total PITA. Depending on your area laundry shoots are not allowed anymore. They are bad because of fire regulations. It might not be an issue with your house because it looks like a lot of brick and concrete. I'm in New England and wood two story houses are not allowed to have laundry shoots. I did construction when I was younger and hated it for a job. But I did learn to frame and sheetrock, and do plumbing and some simple electrical stuff. Now that I have my own place I love working on it and I am so happy I have the skills to do a lot of the work myself. I look forward to seeing what you do with this place!! Congratulations!!
A lot of places will not allow you to call something a bedroom without a closet in it, so if you take out a closet you lose a bedroom. Number of beds and baths help with home value so just keep that in mind. You could rob some space from master closet and laundry to help you space. Definitely think open concept kitchen and living space would do wonders for it.
Such a cool house! Was pretty hyped while you were going about the outsides, then the doors opened to this hidden heaven, lookin forward to seeing what happens to it
Nice score there Scuba. Just be careful going for grey walls and black kitchen... Way too dark overall in my opinion... If you still wanna go for grey walls make sure its of a really light shade.. Wish you the best of luck for this new project!
Congratulations, Scuba! And what a wonderful find and great plans! I look forward to the renovations videos, especially if you lose the carpet in the bathroom put some tile down! Take care!
Awesome! Remodeling is a lot of work and time consuming but in the end it's very rewarding, especially if you've never done it before. I remodeled our old house, moved walls, flooring, built new kitchen cabinets, all without any experience and with the help of youtube. Your house is a gem, great find, all of you ideas will make it look awesome, especially the kitchen living room area. Can't wait to see it!
Definitely a good idea to knock that laundry out to extend the bathroom. Also suggest sunroof overhead in the shower for heavenly cleansing rays. (google image search "this sunroof shower") Very much agree with knocking out most of the kitchen and all that wall to install a large island bench. Make it with overhang for bar stools on the lounge room side. Plumbing, electrical & structural pay someone to do it. If you want to learn something there's prob a TH-cam vid for it. Other than that get a big ol hammer and start smashing! (carpenter/builder from Straya)
Hello from across the pond. Get an architect in bud bounce ideas off with them, then you have some drawings to work off and get idea of what you can do yourself. It's money well spent
Nice house brotha and your ideas are on point to me,the basement is really cool too and soon as I saw the first part of the basement the first thing I said was man cave/theatre room, definitely would lay down new sod in back yard but awesome house brotha
Totally take down the wall in the kitchen. Don't even think twice about it. Opening the kitchen up to the living room. Is the best thing I think to do. But very cool retro house.
How about extending overhang/roof in back so whole deck is covered, and if you wanted to get crazy-expand back deck to make bigger and expand overhang as we’ll.and add basketball hoop for driveway or in back/your yard is big enough to even add cement for court (if you like b ball) Lastly. Put washer dryer in garage.
Scuba, nice house i like all your ideas. I would hire a contractor and give him your ideas and have him tell you if they are do-able the wasy you wanna have them...Talk soon. Pete Happy for you!!!
Love the outside, just lovely. The back yard is beautiful. Love the studio and shed. Love the black wood. Oh, yuck, popcorn! LOL Oh, that basement! I wouldn't change anything in the first part. Never get better than that. Sounds as if you have great ideas. Be careful with wall removal, have a builder make sure it is not loadbearing or if it is, show you how to take care of it. It is a beautiful house with all kinds of potential. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Great channel... your beard channel is good but I think I am liking this better.. oh well you are a nut !!! that is why I love your channels looking forward to seeing more of your great videos.. Mark.
Awesome place man! Definitely take out the washer dry and extend the bathroom. I’m sure once you take out that wall and the old shower it will be a ton of room for a new one.
Scuba, Very Cool House, Brother!!! Your Ideas Sound Awesome. I would advise working with a contractor, that will reduce your overall cost and any kind of headache (due to inexperience). Look forward to future update. Stay Bearded, You AWESOME Homeowner ❤️🤘🤓❤️
Hi there, I am an architect, your new house seem really promising, if you had a floor plan show it, I think I can give you some idea. P/s: love your BeardTube channel BTW.
I really like the house man! I agree with changing the the floor of the house with grey hardwood maybe a dark wood color would look good to (maybe to marble floor for the kitchen). I would be cool if you took the room next to the orange room and make it your walk in closet. The door between the garage is possible. The backyard is going to need some good work to but this looks a fun project!
Word of advice man, When doing the fence there in the yard definitely make sure the ground gets marked for underground utilities, you definitely don't want someone to get to digging and hit a gas line which in turn would blow the house off the foundation, (if the house is in fact natural gas that is) or even get into hitting electrical lines. May also wanna check with the township your in as well, just to make sure you won't need a fence permit depending what kind of fence you plan to replace that old one with 😉
Congrats on the new house. It looks like you want to move the laundry room in the basement? You're gonna be ok carrying loads of laundry up and down a set of stairs? It won't be very convenient. Even if you won't mind that, whenever you sell the house, it will be a minus for the new owners.
Tell us you goals, might inspire ideas. I would expand the deck, to go around toward the original house. The room that leads to the deck, I would turn into a entertaining bar area with window that opens out to the deck.
You could knock out bird house room wall leading into apartment and expand apartment area to include birdhouse area. You could also redo outside patio brick.and I would take orange carpet out of downstairs bathroom.will their be Instagram channel for this
Hey man. This was my grandfather and grandmothers house. If there’s a way to reach out to you. I’d love to explain some of the things about the house and who they were.
@@housestuff lol. Oh ok. Yeah bro popcorn ceilings are the worst. Can't wait to see what u have going on the 5th. I believe I know and I've been waiting for it so much!!!
What a beautiful find. I can see this house being restored to its full glory and making the original owners family proud
The sun room addition would make for a cool laundry room addition
I love how much of the house you love and appreciate. 70s style is getting popularnagain, but even if it wasn't, its so nice to preserve the character of a house.
Congratulations on the purchase, and best wishes! Calling 1970's "true vintage" made me feel old, but then I realized I am old!
The "slats" that you are talking about at 11:36 are hand-hewn wood. Meaning they were hand cut in a saw mill or by hand and those are the actual saw marks. Modern wood is put through an intense finishing/sanding process that they didn't do a long time ago. They may be really old or not.
Consider using a sliding barn door to the entrance of your master bathroom. Space saving and looks cool.
If it were me I'd get rid of that "sun room" and expand the deck back into it. Also, I love the orange shag carpet... but not so much in the bathroom. You have some solid ideas for the house though and I can't wait to see how it progresses.
I only hit the comments to suggedt gettibg rid of the "sun room" for a larger deck.
You could also make the first original part of the garage part of the house to really increase living space. and just use the add on garage. Brotha your mindset on how you want your home improvements are gonna be is gonna be awesome. Also bad ass carpet!

With all the dark colors I hope he gets a cheap hydro rate
Congratulations, Scuba! And what a wonderful find and great plans! I look forward to the renovations videos, especially if you lose the carpet in the bathroom put some tile down! Take care!
The random room besides the living room I would just extend the outdoor deck maybe put a snoop pool or jacuzzi and a big grill
So happy that you also love that dark wood throughout! It would be a shame to remove it

I'd lose the carpeting in the bathroom. I can't imagine having carpet around a toilet for obvious reasons.
The white tree in your backyard is an oak, and if I were you I would expand the bathroom both ways and then make an entire room in your closet
Definitely a good idea to knock that laundry out to extend the bathroom. Also suggest sunroof overhead in the shower for heavenly cleansing rays. (google image search "this sunroof shower")

Make the bathroom bigger into the kitchen. Make sure no walls are load bearing.

Unless its structural
Congrats dude! The house is killer!

Super congratulations 🎉🍾🎊🎈 that house is huge cant wait to see what undo with it
We just bought a 70s house and I have no idea where to start subscribed for inspiration!
Congratulations! That basement is amazing. House holds so many possibilities. Can't wait to see what you do.
Great channel... your beard channel is good but I think I am liking this better.. oh well you are a nut !!! that is why I love your channels looking forward to seeing more of your great videos.. Mark.
gonna give you plenty of renovation to you!
Awesome place man! Definitely take out the washer dry and extend the bathroom. I’m sure once you take out that wall and the old shower it will be a ton of room for a new one.
Also if you knock out a wall and your concerned with loosing value when u want to sale remember it's super easy to throw a wall back up
Cool house! Id recommend locating your load barring walls first before you decide to knock anything down.
Dude I am so ready to see this house progress over time into what you want it to be. Glad to be here from day 1 to see the transformation!
I think we're the washer/dryer are is the best option to make that master bathroom bigger....js
Definitely take out the cabinet at the end of the main hallway. It's to crowded.and Def gonna have to find a way to open up that master bath.
Cool congrats on the new house. Are you going to have a studio where you record from? The movie room is what I’m looking forward to seeing finished.

Congrats bro. My wife and I literally just moved into our first real house last month and yeah bro it's freaking awesome.
Congrats on the house man! Looks awesome! The best part of owning a house is making it your own. Looking forward to seeing the changes.
Love the old school house. Its massive, good luck and enjoy renovating.

Yea we did the doorway between the garages already. Was not super difficult to do
Word of advice man, When doing the fence there in the yard definitely make sure the ground gets marked for underground utilities, you definitely don't want someone to get to digging and hit a gas line which in turn would blow the house off the foundation, (if the house is in fact natural gas that is) or even get into hitting electrical lines. nice house, love the exposed beams! hopefully with that it means you have enough load bearing to just take that wall down in the kitchen.
Congrats on the new house. It looks like you want to move the laundry room in the basement? You're gonna be ok carrying loads of laundry up and down a set of stairs? It won't be very convenient. Even if you won't mind that, whenever you sell the house, it will be a minus for the new owners.
Tile the kitchen floor, you can get ones that look like dark wood grain:)
yep I would keep that basement untouched as well!
GROW WEED IN EVERY ROOM AND THE SECOND GARARGE AND STUDIO APPT. GROW THAT GAS BABAY!!!!!!
Man this is awesome ! Can't wait to see the whole process ! Congrats !
Can't wait to stay in Jack's Hideout.
Check to make sure walls aren’t load baring before you demo.
Are you going to put more videos on the channel and keep it up my friend love your videos
Yes sir! Video just uploaded this morning
Tell us you goals, might inspire ideas. I would expand the deck, to go around toward the original house. The room that leads to the deck, I would turn into a entertaining bar area with window that opens out to the deck.
Hey just came to say congrats on the house man.
Nice find..but talk about a security nightmare..hope you get a nice security system with cameras..
yea it's all in the works as we speak. Have 8 cameras so far
Dude, this is Awesome. Can't wait to see the fix-up.👊👊🍻
Already been filming some stuff. It's doing well so far!
this is gonna be sick as fuck when youre done, definitely cant wait for it to start happening.
Nice place man, It's so much fun remodeling!!
lol and lots of money!
@@housestuff definitely!!
You could knock out bird house room wall leading into apartment and expand apartment area to include birdhouse area. You could also redo outside patio brick.and I would take orange carpet out of downstairs bathroom.will their be Instagram channel for this
be careful taking down walls get info from an engineer before removing any
Yea I had a contractor come out. I got lucky, trusses in the roof, and the wall wasn't load bearing
@@housestuff awesome that makes it easier
It would be a lot better to build that dream bedroom bathroom and closet down stairs
Nice house Scuba!!!
yessir! Love it
Hey man. This was my grandfather and grandmothers house. If there’s a way to reach out to you. I’d love to explain some of the things about the house and who they were.
yea of course. If you have IG, mine is officialbeardtube
That’s solid bro. Congrats 💯🍻
thanks so much man!!!
congratulations bro.here's a revelation for ya.You'll never be finished renovating and decorating.Always something needs replacing or painting :)
Congratulations bro
Thank you so much 😀
Why not get a single pedestal sink in the master and youd be able to widen the doorway, cheaper than a total reno
I think I'm going to try painting the existing vanity. Do the top with epoxy paint and the bottom with behr marquee
I once bought a 70s house it had a bathroom where the tub sink floor wall ceiling counter was yellow I hate yellow
I know I'm probably in the minority, but I'd keep the kitchen mostly original, actually.
Back room an office if you’re going to continue video’s editing room?
Yea I turned the room with the white carpet in it into my office actually :)
So are you gonna turn that lil apartment i to your recording studio
So can you get towed from your own driveway for parking too close to the fire hydrant 🤔
Any aluminum wiring?
When will you upload another house vid
Today lol :)
I'd bring someone that knows how to do it and learn that way and youtube the process
Yea I hired a contractor to help the process along lol
#HouseStuff
Gotta get rid of the carpet in the downstairs bathroom, it's been collecting urine since the 70's EEWWWWWW
Was thinking the same thing
You will have to scrap the ceiling bro. Trying to mud of popcorn ceilings is a bitch! Trust me
yea, I figured that one out the hard way lol. Already scraped one room :)
@@housestuff lol. Oh ok. Yeah bro popcorn ceilings are the worst. Can't wait to see what u have going on the 5th. I believe I know and I've been waiting for it so much!!!
leave the kitchen omly paint it
Please don't paint cabinets always looks like crap. Restain or reface
You might need asbestos mitigation.
you need to bulldoze that whole house and start from the ground up. that house is tore up from the floor up.
