- Beatles Records You Might Not Know - in this video I take a look a three "quasi-official" Beatles records that you might not know about. There are two albums recorded for labels other than EMI before the Beatles had a contract and one early live concert. If you're Beatles completist, you need these as these songs can't be found anywhere else.

Great rundown Rob. Here's hoping those Star Club tapes get the Peter Jackson treatment.
I bought Starclub in 1977 and also Hollywpod Bowl around the Sametime
Both records gave me much listening pleasure.
Great video. Can you imagine if Peter Jackson can clean up that Star Club recording? That would be fascinating. I love the Decca audition because you can really get a sense of what the Beatles were like at that time and they are good recordings. An excellent piece of history! I had the Sheridan record at one time but gave it away decades ago. I guess I need to get on eBay and get it back. Great work, Rob!
The Sheridan stuff sounds good but its really only Aint She Sweet that sounds like the Beatles. The others they are just the backing band. I LOVE the Decca audition! I hope what I read about Jackson working on the Star Club tapes is true.
The MGM recordings were released in 1969 on the polydor label . Sorry it wasn’t anything new to me but for newer fans it is educational .
Right and that was the idea. A lot of newer fans we’re aware of these.
I didn't buy the Star Club album when it came out in '77--just a few weeks before the Hollywood Bowl album--but I got it in 1979 when Pickwick issued it as two single records. They claimed to have improved the sound technology--it's not great, but it's listenable--but I don't know how true that is.
I had all three albums at one time, but the Decca Auditions and Star Club discs are gone.
The Sheridan album is great, the vinyl copy has an ingrained surface noise, although not too noticeable, it is still annoying with 3 minor scratches. The compact disc however, is audio heaven. Beautiful early style wide stereo sound and it really sounds like you're listening to the original master tapes, flawless. I bought the LP in 1984 and the CD in 1989. Polydor 823701-2, "The Early Tapes of The Beatles"
Hopefully Peter Jackson will really clean up the Star Club tapes and they get released very soon.
A very good presentation on your part, Rob.
I hope its true Jackson is working on the Star Club tapes. I really want an original Sheridan Polydoor!
Great video Rob, thanks for the enlightenment, very interesting albums and insight...cheers...✌️
Thanks and you’re welcome.
Very cool stuff. Having lived through Beatlemania, I’d heard many of these songs before. When the band first hit it big, all the radio stations in Los Angeles made their best efforts to dig up every song the boys had ever done. Seemed like every 4th or 5th song they aired was a current or old Beatles song. That’s when several of these were played. Thanks for the great memories!
I remember owning that "Very Together" album with the 1 of the 4 candles burned out, as another Paul Is Dead clue, ha ha. Was hoping it was a new Beatles album, but it was still a fun listen as it was the first time hearing their songs with Tony Sheridan.
Hey Larry. Im on the hunt for a better condition Very Together. They’re out there but usually a bit worn.
@@NorthernRevolutions Best of luck with your search!
Interesting stuff! I have a copy of the Star Club and I agree it would be amazing if Peter Jackson could work his audio magic on the tapes. Those are great performances but very dodgy sound. It would be incredible to hear it more clearly. I have a 10" record of the eight songs with Tony Sheriden - it's a 1982 pressing that was called "The Savage Young Beatles." I haven't played it for ages, so thanks for the reminder! I've only heard the Decca audition songs from Anthology 1, but I might have to track that down. I thought it was pretty clear from those that Pete Best wasn't a very good drummer, but hearing some songs they didn't record anywhere else is fun. Thanks!
Oh you HAVE to get the full Decca Audition. Its awesome!!!!! I hope the Star Club can be improved. Great performance, crappy recording.
This was awesome Rob! Loved learning more grey are Beatles stuff. Cool stuff
Thanks pal.
I bought Live at the Star Club when it came out. I ended up getting rid of it. I have a Decca Tapes but it is a bit noisy😊.
Well done Rob! Really interesting video and those are some obscure Beatles albums. Cool that you’ve got them all. Are there any other Beatles recordings that have eluded you or is your collection complete?
Hey Chris. Somehow I missed this comment. Sorry. The only Beatles records Im still on the hunt for a 4 original UK first pressings (so I can have them all), 1 or 2 original CDN first pressings and a German Horzu Magical Mystery Tour then I’ll call it complete.
nice thanks
Nice overview Rob! I have the Starclub Hamburg recordings vis some cheap (and probably unauthorized) releases from a label called 'Phoenix Records' that came out of the UK back in the early 80's. We'll see if Peter Jackson can work his magic. After all, we live in the future!
Hopefully what I read is true that he working on it and that he can improve it.
Damn Jays suck this year. So disappointing.
Dont get me started. They are horrible! Until Atkins and Shapiro are gone nothing will change.
