I can't wait to buy the boxset greetings from Australia
We have made these joke before , but what they really need to release is a super duper deluxe box set of The Beatles Story with an extra 3 min of tea cups rattling 🙂
@@martinbench3657 LOL yes!!!
@@NorthernRevolutions I am also floating the idea of releasing all the singles individually as 45's , each in their own deluxe box set with booklets at 100$ per 45
@@martinbench3657 that sounds like a solid plan
@@NorthernRevolutions A Capitol idea ? , i will show myself out

As with any reissue coming out, financially speaking, I must pass. I'm just grateful to have what I already have.
You’ll regret it, they’ll not sell well, and the prices will be inflated thereafter.
There now I have heard it 1 million and 1 to many times thanks my friend :-)
@@RacerRecords you’re very welcome Joe.
I actually prefer the US mixes, which were what I grew up listening to. Evidently, the US mixes were okayed by George Martin. Having grown accustomed to the US mixes, the UK mixes sound somewhat dead and not as vibrant as the US mixes. Because of this, when I want to hear the early Beatles, I end up playing my Capitol albums CD box sets.
@@greyhoundude6112 I get it. As I said in the video, this set makes for a lot of folks. Especially those that grew up with these albums. These reissues are long over due. Just not for me.
This is the worst decision Apple has made. The British albums are far superior, sound wise and track wise. This won’t sell as much as a British album would. I’m Australian btw and won’t be buying…
Boomer here. Do you remember in the 70's when Direct to Disks came out? In short, when recording live all was going direct to a master disk and only 100,000 were manufactured. Is there a similar process these days? Just getting back into Audio. Thanks
Hey man I'm also letting this go by
This was great Rob. Can’t help but agree with wanting the album the way the artist wanted it heard. Buuuuttttt… you should just buy them anyways 😂$$
@@jasonarsenault3791 are you going to buy them for me as a xmas present? You dont expect me to use my bigtime youtube money? 🤣
@@NorthernRevolutions how someone at the “beatles estate” hasn’t just gifted these to you yet… I don’t get it.
@@jasonarsenault3791 its a travesty
This box set is clearly unnecessary
I ordered my box! 😊 I'm not concerned with artist intent. The Beatles put Within You Without You onto Sgt Pepper's, and ruined it.
I have multiple copies of these records in Stereo and Mono. This Box Set would be a waste of money for me , but you go ahead 👍🏻
I like the UK albums for the amount of tracks, but I feel like, and, of course it’s my personal preference and opinion, they sound slightly weaker than the US mixes (mono of course; the stereo US versions are pretty bad in places). Perhaps it’s because they crammed 7 tracks per side, and had to compress the sound a little bit, I don’t really know. And I think the artwork on some of the UK albums is kind of lackluster.
1:36 Small correction: Alan Livingston was the president of Capitol, while Dave Dexter Jr. was in charge of A&R (artists & repertoire)
@@Apo458 ya I know. I dont script these and it was an error in talking for 10 minutes
'"Introducing the Beatles" on Vee Jay should be included in this set, as it was the FIRST album released in the US. "Meet the Beatles" was the second. "The Early Beatles" sold horribly, as most people in the US had already purchased "Introducing". This "US" set is historically incorrect, as it does not truly represent what was originally released to the US market. Capital in the US, is STILL screwing up, 50 years on. Some things never change!
Hey man you do you!
I'm a Brit who first got into The Beatles in '76 and those UK albums are what I grew up with, but that's not to say that I don't enjoy the Capitol albums, just not my go to when choosing to listen to The Fab Four. I have ordered both Meet The Beatles and Beatles 65 to upgrade the copies I have, if I like what I hear on these two I may buy more. My own opinion of this whole thing with Capitol is that seeing how Beatlemania literally exploded from the minute they landed at JFK, The record company clearly wanted to make as much money out of this as possible, before it all faded, and so you got about seven albums stateside whereas the Beatles had only actually recorded four. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy hearing those albums and I do understand why they were mixed as they were. They are a part of the Beatles legendary story, and this is a Band who will still be listened to hundreds of years from now. I mean here we are 60 years on and we are still talking about them and enjoying the music. So I will enjoy these re issues for what they are. However the one album that I think Capitol should've left well alone was Revolver, that, aside from being my favourite Beatles album is not just a pop/rock album but a great work of art and only works as a 14 track album, and that's the album as it was that blew me away when I first heard it. But I shall look forward to hearing the albums I've ordered. These are in Mono, but I didn't think Capitol released any Beatles albums in Mono back in '64 or am I wrong?
If you dont buy these then you're not a true Beatles fan haha
@@samstjohn1994 I’ll get right on it Sam
I'm 72 and those albums is what we had back then we had small portable turntables or our parents its what we grew up on
@@denniscrawford6156 right. Its what my Dad had too. Makes sense for ton of people. Its what they grew up with. Just not for me and that fine.
Thanks for your thoughts on that, Rob. I am looking forward to the box set. Amazon Germany offered it for 188 EUR which are approx. 282 Can$. So, I couldn't resist. In Germany the originals are very hard to find and mostly expensive, so it is great to get them in mint condition. And the capitol albums have interesting track lists, which I really enjoy listening to. Nevertheless; I also prefer the Uk versions and I am still hoping for a re-release of the vinyl mono box some day But with this release, the UK mono box got a little bit more likely i hope! BR from Munich ... and no, I will not go to the Oktoberfest.
@@arminzink1925 At $282 I would have bought it too. Good price. If they werent so damn expensive here I might consider it but I dont need them. I have originals.
I am American and i much prefer the running order on the capital albums much more then the UK versions!
@@alanlafromboise3793 I get it. Nothing wrong with them. As I said in the video, I prefer the UK versions because thats what I grew up listening to. Im glad these are being reissued. They are very important. I original first pressings so that’s why Im not buying the new ones.
I'm German and I ordered the box, because for us the US editions are something special. I grew up with the European versions, I have all of them, not the first pressing, but pretty much all of them. First pressings are a goal for later. First I have to complete the US versions.
If I didn't already own these I'd pick this up. Would still like Apple reissue the UK mono set.
The main point everyone needs to remember, and that everyone largely forgets, is that Beatle fans (as Rock n Roll fans in general) HAD NO SAY in how their music was marketed, especially in the United States. Dave Dexter did lasting damage by being entrusted to tell everyone in 1963 that The Beatles “couldn’t make American records”. Thus follows the mess with the PPM recordings being pitched to Vee Jay & such, before Dexter was exposed with egg all over his face to the Capitol brass. This plus the “royalty rules” are why you have the UK and US albums in a lasting mess. And so, the damage was done. History is History. We can’t change that now.
You look cool with a cap on, nice video.
The president of Capitol Records in 1964 was Alan Livingston , not Dave Dexter Jr. 😀
@@WHATCANITELLYA yes you’re right. I dont script these and I misspoke. Appologies
I don't have a record player so it's a pass for me. Crossed my mind to buy Meet The Beatles for nostalgia reasons. I think had it on tape when I was a kid 40 years ago. But I'm also fairly certain I have a vinyl copy in a box somewhere.
I’d prefer the originals of any album, too. But I still haven’t bought the Australian versions of the first AC/DC albums.
I respect your position, but I'm inclined to believe you're too obsessed with intentions and intentionality. The Beatles' Second Album remains one of the greatest albums ever made whether or not the Beatles intended it to be or not. The album proved in 28 minutes how indelible the Beatles were from the start. Five magnificent rock and roll/r&b covers beef up every Lennon/McCartney selection here, including their wildest and most joyful early single, "She Love You." For many North American listeners, Second Album established the Beatles as a seismic music force. And for me, I've played as much as any other album of theirs. It's a classic.
@@Jamthecoolerator I never said Second Albums wasnt good. It is. Ive owned it for 30yrs. Its just not my preference of album to listen to. I own it. I dont need to own another one. Glad its getting reissued for fans that want these albums that they grew up with. Historically, these US albums are hugely important. I just dont need to buy them again. My OG’s are fine for me.
Yesterday and Today is a great album too.
😅I can not wait for these records to come out I think they sound better than the UK version A lot of other people feel the same
I totally agree with you, I'm a 68 yrs young Beatle fan born and raised in the U.S and love the fact that their reissuing the Beatles original capital albums, I've tried listening to the UK versions and just can't get used to the running order on the British versions for instancei bought the U.K " With the Beatles today and the running order to me is lousy, I much prefer the running order on the American releases as the seem to run in chronological order much better!
Yep. I think the US mixes are the superior mixes.
As a Collector I've got every other newer boxset version, both vinyl and cd....why stop now....great video Rob, enjoyed your thoughts on the upcoming release....cheers....✌️
@@The_Music_Sanctuary if money wasnt an issue I’d buy them too. The completist in me is bothered that I wont have them but I dont need them. Same reason I skipped the new red and blue.
Perhaps l missed part of your video on Beatles Cap. reissues but are they releasing these sets in Cd. format?
They did like 3 times. This is the first vinyl reissue.
You have made some really good points as to why most people are skipping these, also because as i understand, many fans were waiting for a Rubber Soul super deluxe set. When i first got into the Beatles as a kid in the late 80s early 90s, I remember looking at these US releases and thinking they were bootleg copies lol 😂. First of all the Meet The Beatles cover alone looked like a straight ripoff of With The Beatles, it looked cheap, to me anyways. Now I understand that to many kids in that era they had no choice but these so those same folks are buying them again for sentimental reasons i suppose. Although i am not getting the whole set, i am getting the Meet The Beatles just because they’re releasing a limited edition in blue vinyl and i am a sucker for colored discs, i love collecting them. Hey, since i am getting the Meet The Beatles LP, i might be looking into that Canadian pressing of BEATLEMANIA With The Beatles copy too. Great video man, keep em coming.
@@itslikethesamebutdifferent8020 thanks for watching.
Of all of the original Canadian released albums, I have a very unique 2-disc CD release from the brilliant mind of Dr. Ebbets. It is Beatlemania! With The Beatles, and is the original mixes of that album issued as disc 1 in MONO, and disc 2 in STEREO.
Agree with you 100 %
Steppenwolf is definitely underrated. 👍👊
@@WyliesLiveMusicCorner absolutely!
I can understand why you’re not buying this I however am excited about this as I as a first generation fan grew up with these albums! In America we grew up listening to the Dave Dexter reverb and the mono fold own on the records Love it!!! A lot of people complain about it so like yourself should not buy the box!! I can understand why you don’t want it!
@@davepounds8924 I dont complain about but youre right, lots of folks to. Just not my thing. Im thrilled though for first generation US fans, this should have come out long ago.
All valid reasons, Rob- I’m still on the fence, mostly trying to justify paying out $$$ for the box or just getting the 5 individual albums I’d ‘want’…do I NEED any of these? Not really 🤔👍
This release is certainly getting mixed reaction towards purchase. I have some extreme curiosity as someone who bought them when they came out.
Hey Rob, I'm a huge Beatle fan and i agree with you. I much prefer the UK pressings, for track listing and sound, plus I have all the original US releases. Hey, to each his own.The main thing is just to enjoy the great music.
@@AlanA-t4y well said!
Good perspective Rob. The hype on this has been fascinating since, at least from my perspective, these records have always been bashed for all the reasons you’ve mentioned and were “bastardized”. Now, everyone wants them. I get many people “grew up” with these and want some new records in mint condition. Plus a cute box doesn’t hurt. Beatles gonna Beatle!!
@@beerandvinyl hey Alex. If someone grew up with these I 100% understand why these are appealing. And I understand the significance of the Beatles 1964 invasion of the US. Musically, for me, there is no reason to buy this and certainly not at $400+. I’ll keep my originals that I never listen to and spend the money for my missing UK originals. Glad its going to be available for those that want it.
Also, the US mono mixes are far less "Dexterized" than their stereo counterparts. Plus, it's a cheaper way of getting the early LP's in mono.
@@jameswilson7084 fair point
I'm getting this set. It's a sentimental thing. I grew up with these versions in the early '80's. Plus, I got the LP set for just over $300 CAD. Including shipping and taxes/ duty paid. I wouldn't have paid almost $500 CAD. Depending on the job the engineer did, it could be a good set. They made note to keep the lows and highs which were "rolled off", to comply with the cheaper record players people used in the 1960's. It's worth a shot.
@@jameswilson7084 I completely understand for sentimentality reasons.
Oooh yes 😎
