Great job Carl. Definitely needs a matching handle though. When you are checking out garage sales and thrift shops keep your eyes open for crepe soled shoes. The crepe soles are the same material as the sand paper cleaner. Hope you and Robin are all recovered from your colds. Take care.
Hi Carl. I found your channel when I did a search for working with abalone inlay, and sub'd immediately because we gotta support our SMC family. I'm making this project my next priority because I just finished that same brand of pizza cutter in olive wood for my dad. That stand is so much better than the cheap, fitted plastic sleeve I originally got for the blade. He's going to love it. I'll be making it out of olive wood, too. I've been going through your content and really enjoying your past videos, as well. Keep up the great work. See you Saturday, if not sooner. 😁
As a tip to clean sand paper: I will cut the sole off an old pair of tennis shoes and use it to clean up sanding discs and belts like the ones you would buy be online. It works great, repurposes unusable tennis shoes and saves some money to boot. Try it, you might like it!
Cool project! I’m fairly new at turning. 3 years. Can you tell me the safe depth of a tenon and mortise that is safe to turn? I realize different woods and sizes will matter. Just basic depths would be helpful. Thanks for your help and keep up the videos! Thanks again KB
Hey KB, The tenon should not hit the bottom of the jaws. All chucks are a little bit different, but make sure the tenon is about 1/8" off the bottom of the jaws. Same thing with a recess. I hope this helps :)
This ones from Craft Supply. It's a 4" blade, and they're the same ones we sell on the Niles website. I think the stand can easily be modified to fit any size blade though.
I loved this video right up to the point where you said "pre drill". I hate that term. I don't know where it came from but it is wrong. "Pre" means before. So you are saying "before drill".What you are actually doing is drilling a pilot hole. End of rant. Hey, that is one beautiful pizza cutter stand. Nice design, excellent function, fantastic wood. beautiful finish. 👍👍If I had a pizza cutter that stand would be on my kitchen counter. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

Thank you Doug! I think it's a great design too!
Looks great, Carl. When you didn't find a way to use your lathe on it, I had to check that I was watching the right channel (lol).
Bill
lol I used the lathe as a work bench ;) Does that count? Thank you Bill

I bought my sanding cleaner from Woodcraft a few years ago
Yeah they work great!!
Like others, I saw it also and liked it!!
Thank you Garry!
Great job as always! Looks amazing! I gotta make me one now. #belikecarl
Thank you brother!! Have fun! I'd love to see it when it's done.
Nice, you should make one from Maple Burl and Walnut to make a change LOL
I'm going to make one out of WAAAATER! lol
@@CarlJacobson 😂🤣
Carl. What brand and size pizza cutter? Woodcraft has two sizes and I normally get the bigger one. I think they are $20
This ones from Craft Supply. It's a 4" blade, and they're the same ones we sell on the Niles website. I think the stand can easily be modified to fit any size blade though.
You could make an elaborate one of these using your CNC.
Yeah you could really get creative with the CNC!
Wood Craft stores has the sand paper cleaner.
Yes they do :) I put the link in the description.
Great project! See you two in Oregon!
Thank you Valerie! See you soon! :)
I would like to get directions on how to make this pizza cutter
Hi Sidney, email me and I will send you the plans.

Doesn't the walnut oil go rancid after awhile?
No it doesn't, It dries completely. Other oils likes Olive and Vegetable will go bad though.

Well I didn't want to say "pre-screwing" lol I guess Pilot hole is the best option!!
Thank you Glen!! Have a good one buddy!
