      @@Carlosmartinez117 Yes. That armor. It was made once more for Spartan IV's after Cortana's tyranny throughout the galaxy started, as the Banished damaged the Mjolnir armor too quickly to keep replacing, so they opted for the cheaper armors to make a return, but with some of the systems of Mjolnir baing part of the new SPI armor.

    Where RAKSHASA armor is a mix of bleeding edge advanced kit married to fly-by-night improvisation to create suits of armor for long duration behind enemy lines missions, SPI armor seems to be primarily focused on being only as high quality as it has to be while coming in at a more affordable price, with a bit of ONI testbeds thrown in to see what sticks. This makes sense, considering the origins of the SPI armor in Ghosts of Onyx was tied to the Spartan III program, which was all about making more Spartans, faster, cheaper.
    Overall, I like SPI armor. The UNSC could probably buy five sets of SPI armor for the same price as one set of Mark VI, and while yes the Mark VI is better armor, quantity is a quality all its own.

    I like the mirage core. It is neat in lore and design; a semi-powered armor with energy shields to be used by non-augmented people.
    I want an ODST core next, building upon this design language. They should have energy shields by now.
    It makes sense that spartans should be able to operate these semi-powered armors, even if they are intended for non-augmented people. The technology is trickled down from mjolnir anyway, logistically provides a common support network, and provides redundancy ‘plan-b’ armor should a spartan not have access to full mjolnir support and repairs.

    I appreaciate the lore behind a lot of these gear pieces and in some cases it makes me wish that we actually had gameplay or moments that utilized some of them. But what would be nice is if they actually baked it into the stories around and in Halo. It'd be cool seeing Spartans that have different helmets, deployed with different armors, extra gear pieces like with Jorge or Emile on Reach.

    original spi and spi mk2 where scaled in their assist to be wearable by non augmented personal. mirage mk 1 tested spi plates in a mjolnir suit.
    the spi versiob in the pre-created post war era seemed to be scaled to spartan strenght and speed far better (with the non augmented operator version being scaled to base humans instead.), though it still does not require a neural interface or reflex enhancements technicaly.
    the mirage mk 2 seems to include a neural interface, shielding and the gen3 nanobot suite on the soartan scaled spi platform.
    passive movement controlled motorized assist that moves at the wearers speed can at most be as strong as tge wearer, so the wearer is still in control. for more strenght you would have to sliw down.
    spi was originaly scaled to expected human wearers, and mirage is likely scaled to spartans.
    so mirage 2c should be about 2/3 as strong as a spartan in mk4 armor, without any reflex increases.
    this fits with the rift gauntlets having a tuneable level of amplification.

    14:26 Funnily enough, Halo 3: ODST actually tackled this conundrum quite well, in my opinion, in that the shields were effectively still present but rebranded as Stamina. It might be a good solution to bring back for the Mirage 2C, although how one would be made aware of one's Stamina being depleted without the shield sparks I'm not too sure (but it could be fashioned after Star Wars: Republic Commando's squad mate health system, where - alongside having health metres on your HUD - Fixer, Sev and Scorch would limp and hold their wounds with the left hand while continuing to fire with the right; perhaps signs of visible exhaustion such as heaving and stumbling and hunching would manifest because your Spartan overexerted dodging bullets).

    • @shottytheshotgun
      @shottytheshotgun ปีที่แล้ว

      My headcannon is that stamina is powered plate armor. The armor pieces use a power source to enhance material properties by active support and/or use power to repair and reform.
      Gameplay wise, armor would be a percent damage reduction. All damage will affect your non-regenerating health. Armor itself will behave like shields, damage will reduce armor to 0%, where it will not reduce incoming damage. Armor can recharge just like shields back to 100%, where it will again provide the most damage reduction. So you have enough armor that a lone shot is a small enough health penelty to not worry about, but if receiving sustained damage, your armor will quickly drain. This keeps the main focus on your health. Tanking damage is a huge health cost; you are encouraged to spread out your engagements to keep your armor charged to reduce the total health cost. To make this system more intuitive, the armor charge on the HUD can literally the damage reduction percentage; like 80%-0%, next to your health bar.
      Halo has always been lose with the term “power armor”. Especially in reference to semi-powered armor. My analogy is that if regular armor is a bicycle, and full powered mjolnir is a motorcycle, then semi-powered armor is a pedal-assist ebike. It has a power source, not enough to fully move on its own, but enough to go much faster than a regular bike.

    • @dutch_asocialite
      @dutch_asocialite ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shottytheshotgun I'm having a little difficulty processing your proposition but if I _am_ understanding it right: I'm a bit sceptical as to how well it would coexist with the regular shielding system but I do see it working, especially since it seems to essentially be Titanfall 1's Titan Shielding with more depth a la Doom, but baked into one setting.
      However, while I do like the prospect, I think it's a bit overboard to incorporate an entirely different defence system for a cosmetic change. I think the conventional Stamina system would be fine.
      >My headcanon
      That's not bad, it would make sense why you never rearmoured yet maintained the same amount of protection despite engaging in multiple firefights, although it contradicts the fact ODST armour is purely unpowered; it makes more sense it's just _that_ good. Me and my brother, on the other hand, just interpreted it as the player character being winded by the force of the shot, thus "slowing" them down and being more susceptible to a direct hit, especially since the low Stamina state is accompanied by heavy breathing (sorta like the rationale an Uncharted dev gave for why Drake is able to tank so many shots).

      Presumably because they couldn't. Certainly not at a feasible rate of production or at a justifiable cost.
      It's like asking why the UNSC didn't just make better ships during the Human-Covie war. Technological know-how doesn't grow on trees, and the only resourse more scarce than materials and talent is time.
      That and the opportunity cost. Mjolnir worked well enough; better to invest time and resources into improving a proven "good enough" platform than something you don't know will even pay off. Put your bets on Ten-pair instead of splitting and praying for a Twenty-one. Honestly that last pair of knee pads are definitely the best just because I have a feeling that inside them are Nokia 3310s which means it's basically up armored invincible objects protecting your knees. Lore wise I don't see the need for them to be producing weaker armor for spartans. I know we have been under attack from the created and got more spartan candidate options due to spartan 4 project but it seems we have refielded Mark V [B] and possibly still have left overs of Spartan Mark IV and VI and Gen 2 armor lying around or recovered from deceased or "MIA" spartans which would be tremendously more viable in operation than what the SPI can offer and unless manufacturing facilities for Mjolnir Armor have been captured by the created it makes little sense besides budget reasons why the UNSC would need semi powered armor systems besides uparmoring unaugmented personel and not spartans. Also Rakshasa's similarity in designs still begs the question is Rakshasa a powered assault armor or is it semi-powered like SPI and If so why not just produce more Rakshasas armor as I'm sure it has more updated tech since it was made around the time Mark VII was made so it must have similar standards in tech employed in it.
    it is apparent the Mjolnir factories are not captured as even the SPI are produced by the same folks making the armor pieces of Mjolnir which would mean they are operational enough to continue taking in more contracts from both ONI and UNSC and both ONI and UNSC headquarters are also operational enough to continue the resistance and lead humanity's battle forces so why cut the budget on Spartans the best hope we got why not double down on it since most not spartan tech have been EMPed? Personally based on nothing I think SPI is better for additional operational capacity for unaugmented users and Spartans should stick with Mark VII or Mark V [B] if spares of those are still available heck even Gen 2 would be better and Rakshasa would be an in between for Mjolnir and SPI maybe semi powered but more powered than SPI and less powered than Mjolnir in all avenues.
    Also I don't think ONI or the UNSC is advanced enough to control created or basically promethean data matter combatants yet nor their vehicles as they disintegrate to nothingness and even Cortana had trouble reading the data and data souls they leave behind in a more complete manner so I think the best info we have against those foes are what they use to detect each other as allies while still alive which would mean SPI armor variants probably only masks the user as a friendly to created forces deterring any suspicion during infiltration if that is still the primary purpose of the lesser armored SPI in this war. God I sure hope their not just cost cutting and sending spartan 4s to their deaths in the frontlines wearing SPI I don't want another repeat of the spartan 3 project. Unless that one other helmet hunted down by the created was good enough to allow humanity to get more info from the data the created leave behind which may be what they considered a threat worth hunting down specifically. If so then I can easily see SPI spartan squads or duos going in to infiltrate with atleast one wearing the street viper or the hexagon covered one to blend in created forces heck those things might even make them appear promethean in the eyes of other created forces just to more casually stroll by when infiltrating them but I'd say that's the best UNSC can make right now in terms of reverse engineering basically next to nothing from these enemy and their "remains" if there are any.

    my favourite Helmet is honestly the Erenyes one with the attachment specific to that helmet.
    shame it comes in an overpriced bundle
    as for my opinion on season 3, Cliffhanger is my favourite map, unless the game is making me play one flag.
    just let me play slayer or gun game and i'll be fine.

    The helmets are gross, aside from the original SPI helmet. Why do you need a visor that goes over the top of your head when it should be armor plated to protect your head??

    I love the new core but I have this almost psychotic need to give my Spartan some type of lore in which he is the most badass augment son of a gun out there, and the fact that the Mirage seems to sacrifice some aspects of a regular mjolnir in exchange for a cheaper product to manufacture (and that you don’t need to be as augmented to use it meaning it probably wouldn’t enhance the user’s strength, speed and reaction time as much as a mjolnir) stops me from using it :( and I’m already bored to death of the mark VII helmet and is the only cool one in that core

    • @TheGamingAce231
      @TheGamingAce231 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Same as the Gungnir helmet, I imagine. The visors arent what they actually see out of. The helmet has sensors and cameras that feed the display to the inside of the helmet.

    • @ianl1253
      @ianl1253 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As stated by the other guy, the visor on a Spartan's helmet acts as sort of like a camera that is giving you live video feed through a display inside the helmet. Considering what the visors are made out of, it would be impossible to see anything without those displays.

      It's not. All fracture armors are alternate reality "what-ifs?". The earlier ones were alternate takes on the halo universe as a whole, Chimaera is a more grounded "what if the Created won the war and enslaved humanity/organics?"
