Infinite absolutely should be S tier. My personal favorite. It's the perfect iteration on the classic Halo 3 design, while giving him more weight and a more powerful presence, which I think is how he should look. I love Halo 3 and 2 design of course (also should be S tier), but he's a bit too slender looking and lacks the weight that a super soldier in 1000 pounds of power armor should have.
yeah like the shoulder plates in halo 2 and 3 are so thin, they would definitely not stop a bullet. All they would do is stop him from getting scratches if he falls off his skateboard.
But that's the thing about Spartans, it's easy to think that they're these buff meat heads for human beings, but they're actually a lot more lean in build. The armor is what makes them look chunkier or thicker. But man, Infinite's Chief definitely put some C's in thick.
@@agentmaryland1239 good point, the spartans themselves are relatively lean rather than thick. But both the mark 5 armor from CE and mark 4 from Halo Wars are thicker and I like that too. The Mark 6 in comparison is too form-fitting next to the Mark 4, 5, or Infinite's mark 7, although it's still a great and iconic design
I agree because I've always been a Mark 5 head lol. It's what I have on my Mark 5b Spartan in Infinite and what I used for a long time in the OG Reach. There's something about it that I've always preferred over the Mark 6 armor, even though I still really like it.
I've always found it the most mature looking, which sounds funny seeing as it's from the oldest game. The MK VI just seems a bit too small and to me, the helmet has never seemed right. MK V on the other hand has a weighted look to it, not to mention the ammo pouches!
Yea it combined the simplicity of the bungie mk 6 and the bulky awe of the 343 mk 6. Like i love both general designs but bungie doesn’t look like practical armor and 343 is too complicated. Infinite is the perfect blend
I mostly agree with the rankings, though 4 and 5 are complicated for me. I think they look really cool, but their problems mostly lie in the art style being different rather than the armor itself looking bad. I still think it conveys the look of Chief pretty well, all things considered. I am really curious as to why Infinite's armor is below 2 and 3 when it's so similar, though. I'd personally put it in S and it's my favorite design for him by far.
Bungie armor looked oldish and simple whereas 343s are kinda new and convoluted, I actually like both and honestly aside CE master chief I say halo 4 and 5 chief look better then halo 2 and 3 chief in my opinion, it's mostly because chief feels short and skinny compared to the marines and even elites, he looks too small for someone who's 7ft2 1000 pounds. In halo 4 and 5 he's kinda the size of the elites from bungie eras except in 343s there's huge, too huge, then halo infinite broaght back the og elites from CE and its perfect, chiefs bigger then them and as tall as them, they also fixed the brutes, brutes definitely feel like they are indeed huge, big mofos like they should have been, I men if they're 9ft tall how tf is chief the same height as them in the bungie halo games? It makes no sense
I think 5 and 4 are okay. I kinda like the design myself but in context of an established and beloved art style there's a reason people dislike it. For starters it has that generic over done late 7th generation art style that's supposed to be realistic but just makes everything look over designed and less practical. It especially hits the covenant worse though, if the enemies don't look sick they look like generic hive style enemies. The body suit looks incredibly tight and nothing like actual bdu or eva/ppu equipment. It looks like a sci-fi mech plug suit style skin suit. And the armor to me just doesn't look protective, it's too angular in the chest for blast protection and doesn't properly cover the joint and lower torso area. I actually do really like the helmet design but it also seems like the armor and helmet were modeled by two different people looking at multiple concept art pieces. Also the pauldrons just seem really heavy for not much practical change. As for Halo infinite it's like they tried to take the realistic design and mix it with a cartoon style, don't get me wrong that cartoonish style is what makes Halo iconic and I like it but it also kinda contrasts with itself. And the armor seems, I don't know how to describe except sorta like dbz muscles. It's more robotic and also kinda blocky especially the shin guards and chest piece. I guess it's sorta like a toy. Also the color looks more like breath of the wild grass than military olive drab. I didn't like the mark 4/5 in reach much but the armor felt far more practical and realistic while also being cool AF, I would have preferred if they just upscaled that style like how they just ripped the gun and enemy models for the ce remake. Over all o do really like it though, I didn't have any strong thoughts about his armor while playing the game, it's problems are with the world design, like 4 and 5 it looks nice and like wallpaper material but also nothing like the original series, especially the forerunner stuff. But that's all just my opinion.
i feel like 4 & 5 are good but dont look like the master chief. if the list was based on looking how the master chief should look, 4 & 5 are in the right place imo
I agree with almost everything. in my opinion I would swap the Halo TV show and Halo Infinite. Infinite Master Chief in S tier, Halo TV in A tier and that be my list. Hopefully one day Halo will be back to a really great stage in modern gaming (obviously it won't be the same as day one when it launched in the early 2000's but still).
My biggest biggest gripe is having infinites armor in A tier but the shows armor in S tier, because to me Infinite has the perfect chief design down to the coloration and how beefy he is and just how heroic his proportions are, whereas the shows chief armor has a problem with the look around the chin being a bit off to where I would have them swap places, but other than that I like the placements especially the 4 and 2 Aniversary armors
Forward Unto Dawn/Legends is litterally my favorite Master Cheif armor, it has the hallmarks of the other designs whilst also still remaining it's own unique stylization Also many features of the Halo Infinite armor is actually taken directly from the Forward Unto Dawn/Legends armor, such as the design of the arm and leg armor as well as the 117 on the chest which first appeared in that armor and has sorta been a hallmark since(Also note that the same shoulder design for the FuD and Legends armor is used on the Halo shows armor) It's a legitimately good design I just think that your experience with watching the surrounding movies sorta tainted your brain into thinking the designs are bad

I actually would personally put Halo 4 in S+ tier. I love Halo 4's chief so much, and I just always saw his different design as simply a different style rather than a continuity error
I'm always going to have some level of bias since I really favor the Mark V armor design over the Mark VI armor design, but I can agree with this list as is.
The Helmet Visor in Halo 3 doesn't use real time reflections besides one cutscene during the level Cortana, throughout the rest of the game they used baked reflections which are just JPEGs of the environment mirrored onto the visor
Honestly Halo 4 should have started with the Halo 3 armour but as Chief progresses on the Forunner shield world his armour starts breaking down from the constant wear and tear of fighting by the time he reaches the UNSC infinity his armour is damaged to the point it no longer combat effective and as a result he is forced to change to the Halo 4 armour. It would have solved tons of continuity issues without the bullshit handwaving

Still wish the first level of Halo 4 was Chief having to replace his armor with an upgraded look. Like Cortana was working on it while he was sleeping just in case he would need it when he woke up.
the one in 4 is my favorite, and I'm a 3d artist. It just looks so macho, so tactical, so mature and powerful. Most of the other armors just make him look like a goofy toy.
Its unpopular opinion but 4 looks faaaar better.... I think people are letting nostalgia cloud their eyes.... 343 screwed a lot of things but I loved all the armours they made for Chief ( 5 was eehhhh but anyway. )
@@davidmclean-e5k i agree 5 did a bit of back track in terms of texture back to clean again. They are dam near being Gundam by then. But 4 looks awesome in a way. It's just a style choice.
Absolutely love Halo 4 Chief's helmet. If you cleaned up all the messy details and stuck that on an appropriate update of the original Mark VI armour, you'd have a brilliant design for Master Chief. Which is essentially what they did for the first teaser we got for Halo Infinite, which never came back for some reason.
I feel like you the forward until dawn version is WAY more accurate and realistic looking than the TV shows version You guys said FUDs version looked plastic but the clips from the show on here I literally see chiefs shoulder flopping around like a Storm trooper costume My only complaint about the FUD version Is that they elongated some parts of the anatomy such as the chest which looks Hella weird I loved how still and compact chiefs suit looked in FUD because I HATE costumes from any show that look light and floppy it absolutely takes out my immersion Solid video tho 🗿🤙
I don’t get the constant hate towards Halo 4 and 5 by the halo community. Specifically the character designs. Honestly the armors looks really cool and even better IRL. REACH isn’t the end all be all and neither is Halo 3. Keep an open mind and just appreciate the designs. We all know how bad things could’ve be so just appreciate what they are. Just wanted to throw that in there.
Halo 4’s armor is underrated as hell, he still had the iconic “face” without showing his face, and Halo 4’a graphics were nuts on the 360. The lore behind Cortana building him an upgraded suit using his old suit is so cool, she couldn’t finish the suit because of the battle scars it had, leaving the scars where they would have been in the halo 3 suit
buenos dias, love your videos, your super complex halo challenges like no shooting no walking were the best though, you should do can you beat halo while walking/driving backwards or something
I’m confused as to why Infinite, Package and FUD are all on vastly different tiers when they’re all BASICALLY the same armors? Just because of texture..??
Honestly, I liked every iteration of his suit through the games. The old designs of the Bungie era are nostalgic and have that feel to them that you remember having the first time you saw him for the first time as the games released. Forward Unto Dawn's design wasn't awful in my opinion, but Legends just looked like an overly buffed up anime mini Gundam suit. I'm on the fence about the tv shows look though.
I’ve got to disagree about the Halo TV series armor….he looks deflated. The shoulders are so small that it looks disproportionate. Think about how wrong Darth Vader would look if they just used a cloth kids costume of Darth Vader, vs. the actual armor for the movies. It makes Master Chief look weak and scrawny. There are ways to make the armor fit an actor, but still retain the shape you want, and they totally missed the look of the games.
I would honestly be inclined to call Infinite’s design for chief the best one ever It manages to stick to the main design of the OG while compromising between the old and new designs so perfectly that nobody has any complaints about it really. And me personally I love the Halo CE, 2 and 3 armor style but also really like chief being bulky So to me the infinite design is perfect. Best of both worlds
I was afraid you either didn't know about fall of reach (thinking about it, of course you would know about it) or purposeful left it out. I'm glad you mentioned it at the end because I actually really liked it. I don't know if that's an unpopular opinion or what but I liked that it explored the origins of Master Chief and the Spartan 2's
Why did you put the Paramount show in S Tier but Infinite in A Tier? They're the same armor (save for the Silver team branding) except Infinite's is more cohesive and structurally sound (the show's looks like plastic).
My man reviewing the Halo CE anniversary COVER armor. What a dedication. I agree mostly with your tier list. Well as Halo CE non objective fan it would have go S tier directly haha but great video
The Halo tv show had outstanding armor, game accurate sound, and the “feel” of a live action game. What astounds me is that they put so much effort into accurately recreating the game mechanics, but no effort into the lore. If only they had a pre-created script… like a book trilogy…
I did not even know that halo 4/5 design has so hated and critiziced, but it actually is my favorite of all the designs, it looks rough, modular (the articulated plates design) organic and more militaristic/nasa style than the other armor designs, i think it looks more like an actual combat space suit.
Legends, Forward Unto Dawn and infinite's Chief armor was all pretty much the same armor besides small changes. Like the helmets were definitely different. Those have to be my fav due to them being much like the mark vi from 2 and 3 but bulkier 🤘
Your tier is quite close to where mine would be. I actually guessed almost every position on your list. Halo 2 armour is my favorite and the remaster was just *chef's kiss*. Halo Infinite to me looks almost fake, it's too bright and cartoony. I want a halo game to look as dark and gritty as halo 2 felt but that will probably never happen.
Halo infinite may have some problems, but (at least for me) it is undeniable that artistically it is beautiful and the Master Chief, well... is just perfect. Also although I don't like the art direction of halo 4 and 5, I really like the Chief design in 4 (in 5 it's ok... I think)
Minus a few minor differences in bias not too far from where I'd list, one exception, I think the recreations of Mark V is great maybe because I'm younger and played CE last after the master chief collection was officially available so I just don't have the same nostalgia effect of the CE armor being so iconic, to me, seeing the old graphics get a fresh coat of paint is a huge plus.
Not to be a crazy nerd here but in the kilo five trilogy of books they actually do say that Naomi's armor upgrades itself while not in use, just a lore tidbit.
I definitely love Halo CE and 2/3 armor and 343 designs did grow on me over time and i like them if only they did something along the lines Chief is waken before the small fraction of the covenant found Forward unto Dawn and had to upgrade his armor because of some kind of damage from being out in space for so long or something better then waking up in new suit that’s so different from 3
For CE anniversary, I would’ve loved it if they did the Halo Reach design, both for consistency and the fact that I’m a fan of the Halo Reach design for chief. Plus, in my opinion, it look’s better than the design we ended up with.
I think if you had to make a 2010’s mainstream armor looking Master Chief Halo 4 is probably about as well as you could possibly do. It looks very much like mainstream western sci-Fi and superhero armor design and I personally actually dig it but I’d still put in maybe only low A or high B
As you were showing off the Halo: CE armor, one of your clips showed MC being teleported upside down into a covenant ship and falling on his head. I can’t for the life of me remember that cutscene?
weird thing to mention, but I like the chin vents on Foward Unto Dawn Chief's helmet if Chief were in any bigger armor, there'd definitely be steam hissing out of those like a Gundam lol
I understand for halo four and five the whole fact that it doesn't make sense for the armor to change from 3 to 4 lore wise, but I liked the art design, I always saw chief as a tank, that's the whole thing about armor, I think deserves either C or B
Does anyone else think it is possible that the Spartan in cryosleep is Linda-058? Linda at this time was also aboard the pillar of Autumn. She was put into cyrosleep due to critical injuries right after coming aboard. Then jettisoned into space right after leaving slip space for retrieval later. Hence why in Halo:CE remaster there's the terminal listing her and as "Unavailable". And its been a long time since I read Fall Of Reach. But Chief didn't enter cryosleep till after the Autumn had entered Slipspace. Finally, I could be wrong, But I believe she was wearing Mark V armour at this time too. Edit: After checking the Halo:CE remaster. It shows her with Mark V
SInce I was a kid I always thought that the shadow of peak of the Master Chief's helmet was his eyes and even though I know those are not his eyes I just cannot get a good glance at his helmet and still look at it as if the shadow is his eyes.
I think the tv show chief is A tier. Master chief’s middle section looks a bit too fat than it should be, but I understand that his actor was the closest looking to chief that they had.
Honestly I like 4 and 5 armour more than CE, 2, and 3. The visor in 2 and 3 always seemed off to me, too big maybe. Halo CE armour was just too shiny, but that is probably just the technology. I do like the overall shape of the CE armour a lot. Also I think the orange visor actually looked cool.
Halo 3, unfortunately, in MCC has an issue where the armor lights are missing and where they are small details, do help it pop. Almost like looking at someone with and without a face filter
off topic but seeing halo 4 reminded me that the other day i was going through some old stuff and i found my old halo 4 edition xbox 360 (plus controllers) and the box it came in

I dont mind h4 or h5 cheif, just the fact it change dramatically lore wise without serious explanation
I didnt mind the H4 artstyle so much. What I did mind however is the reasoning behind it or lack thereof
I feel like you the forward until dawn version is WAY more accurate and realistic looking than the TV shows version
You guys said FUDs version looked plastic but the clips from the show on here I literally see chiefs shoulder flopping around like a Storm trooper costume
My only complaint about the FUD version Is that they elongated some parts of the anatomy such as the chest which looks Hella weird
I loved how still and compact chiefs suit looked in FUD because I HATE costumes from any show that look light and floppy it absolutely takes out my immersion
Solid video tho 🗿🤙
I don’t get the constant hate towards Halo 4 and 5 by the halo community. Specifically the character designs. Honestly the armors looks really cool and even better IRL. REACH isn’t the end all be all and neither is Halo 3. Keep an open mind and just appreciate the designs. We all know how bad things could’ve be so just appreciate what they are. Just wanted to throw that in there.
The fact infinite is not S tier kills me
Halo 4’s armor is underrated as hell, he still had the iconic “face” without showing his face, and Halo 4’a graphics were nuts on the 360.
Funny part is infinite did turn around and is a great game now
I’m confused as to why Infinite, Package and FUD are all on vastly different tiers when they’re all BASICALLY the same armors? Just because of texture..??
Honestly, I liked every iteration of his suit through the games. The old designs of the Bungie era are nostalgic and have that feel to them that you remember having the first time you saw him for the first time as the games released. Forward Unto Dawn's design wasn't awful in my opinion, but Legends just looked like an overly buffed up anime mini Gundam suit. I'm on the fence about the tv shows look though.
Halo 2 and Halo 4 armor looks the best to me
I’ve got to disagree about the Halo TV series armor….he looks deflated.
That wasn't Master Chief, that's Master Cheeks.
I would honestly be inclined to call Infinite’s design for chief the best one ever
It manages to stick to the main design of the OG while compromising between the old and new designs so perfectly that nobody has any complaints about it really.
And me personally I love the Halo CE, 2 and 3 armor style but also really like chief being bulky
So to me the infinite design is perfect.
I think I quite like the halo 4 armour
Unpopular opinion, Halo 4 Chief armor is one of the best
True, really cool armor
I agree, and halo 5 only improved it.
Too bad it's hard for bungie stans to realise
@@QasimAli-to5lk tell me something you like about halo 4 in total
@@superk9letsplays419 the story, the gameplay, the multiplayer and Forge
I really like the way chief looks in 4 I just wish it hadn't been implemented so lazily.
Legends, Forward Unto Dawn and infinite's Chief armor was all pretty much the same armor besides small changes. Like the helmets were definitely different. Those have to be my fav due to them being much like the mark vi from 2 and 3 but bulkier 🤘
Legends and FUD designs are underrated in my opinion.
@@Ungus727agreed
Ah, a new Rocket Sloth video to accompany a new Gravemind run 🎮
Your tier is quite close to where mine would be. I actually guessed almost every position on your list.
Halo 2 armour is my favorite and the remaster was just *chef's kiss*.
Halo Infinite to me looks almost fake, it's too bright and cartoony. I want a halo game to look as dark and gritty as halo 2 felt but that will probably never happen.
Halo 2 Master Chief is S-Tier because he's the most vulnerable, therefore the most human, therefore the most relatable.
Halo infinite may have some problems, but (at least for me) it is undeniable that artistically it is beautiful and the Master Chief, well... is just perfect. Also although I don't like the art direction of halo 4 and 5, I really like the Chief design in 4 (in 5 it's ok... I think)
Who thinks what the new halo will be?
Halo CE Master Chief is my favorite Master Chief design. It just looks so nice and iconic
Halo 4 armor is ss+ tier
7:20 that's not controversial, that's objectively correct.
I personally would have put infinite chief into s Tier but beyond that I more or less agree
Halo 2 anniversary chief looks the best.
same goes for cortana.
Not to be a crazy nerd here but in the kilo five trilogy of books they actually do say that Naomi's armor upgrades itself while not in use, just a lore tidbit.
I definitely love Halo CE and 2/3 armor and 343 designs did grow on me over time and i like them if only they did something along the lines Chief is waken before the small fraction of the covenant found Forward unto Dawn and had to upgrade his armor because of some kind of damage from being out in space for so long or something better then waking up in new suit that’s so different from 3
The Halo show was rough. But I really liked the armor.
Im in the minority of people who dont like the original helmet lmao, never really liked it even as a kid
For CE anniversary, I would’ve loved it if they did the Halo Reach design, both for consistency and the fact that I’m a fan of the Halo Reach design for chief. Plus, in my opinion, it look’s better than the design we ended up with.
I think halo 4's armor is actually the best. It made master chief look the most imposing and most resilient which is perfect for him
CE is the 🐐 with Infinite close behind and H4 and 5 by far being the worst
What about that halo 5 intro where Master Chief is in the desert with the alien rising from the ground? That armour looks quality in my eyes 👍
Infinite had the best look tbh
I think if you had to make a 2010’s mainstream armor looking Master Chief Halo 4 is probably about as well as you could possibly do. It looks very much like mainstream western sci-Fi and superhero armor design and I personally actually dig it but I’d still put in maybe only low A or high B
yeah. while halo 4 is by far not my favorite game i dont think the armour deserved F
@@Peron1-MC Same here
As you were showing off the Halo: CE armor, one of your clips showed MC being teleported upside down into a covenant ship and falling on his head. I can’t for the life of me remember that cutscene?
A bit goofy but it is in the game
I like to halo 4 and 5 armor more cause it captures more of that military look
“Next time you’re playing Halo 5” lol, Mr. sloth, nobody is gonna replay Halo 5
weird thing to mention, but I like the chin vents on Foward Unto Dawn Chief's helmet
if Chief were in any bigger armor, there'd definitely be steam hissing out of those like a Gundam lol
I understand for halo four and five the whole fact that it doesn't make sense for the armor to change from 3 to 4 lore wise, but I liked the art design, I always saw chief as a tank, that's the whole thing about armor, I think deserves either C or B
Blud really put 1998 armor higher than halo 4 and 5 master chief’s armor🙏😭💀
whitch rocket sloth guy does the voice overs? i always assumed it was one person who ran all of rocket
4 and 5 look cool, but they're just so *chonky.*
You talked trash about the Halo 4 armor, disliked and unsubbed
The idea of lighting physics is sending me
Halo 3's visors are actually not real time reflection, they're actually just a reflection map texture, it looks convincing though.
I cant help but love the halo 4 armor simply because of that badass boxart, had it as my pc wallpaper for like 5 years and i dont even like halo 4.
Where is the link to the tier list
Halo CE Chief looking like a glazed donut
I happen to like glazed donuts though
Honestly worst take on the internet
Googles “how to delete someone’s comment on TH-cam”.
Halo 4 armor for me is an s tier. I didn't care about the lore reasons or art style. He looked badass
Halo 3, unfortunately, in MCC has an issue where the armor lights are missing and where they are small details, do help it pop. Almost like looking at someone with and without a face filter
Along with that it misses the detail of the lights flickering when you die
Im really not sure why infinite chief isn’t in s tier, but master cheeks is. Overall great list
off topic but seeing halo 4 reminded me that the other day i was going through some old stuff and i found my old halo 4 edition xbox 360 (plus controllers) and the box it came in
I like halo 4 armor but they could add color to the chief Instead of the back of the game being all vibrant
i like the halo 4 master chief but it doesnt really work as master chief
I may get hate for this. But the Infinite redesign in my opinion would be placed in S tier as well. I love the design
