Nice Stephen good to see you in Bob's stream last night. I don't think temps are bad considering how high of wattage it was pulling.
I think people just had unrealistic expectations thanks to Dave's video. What impresses me most about it is the crazy small footprint, big battery, and priced fairly unlike so many thin and light gaming laptops!
    Thanks again!

Hey Jonathan! It was good listening to Bob last night, he has a great knowledge of laptops. I agree totally, Dave hyped it up because it was Intel. There are already comments on his video about people getting 90+ degrees with stock paste .
I had the Razer Blade 15 repasted with liquid metal and this is much cooler than that. Its cheaper, has an SD card reader and I think the build quality is tip notch. It is not a finger print magnet either. I do wish the speakers were louder I guess but that is all.

Very happy to see you are reviewing this. It needed an actual review after it got the coverage from the big noob review channels. It looks like a promising laptop and a lot of value for the money, it's just that it's not a big brand name yet.
On another note, I am considering selling my msi gp73 with 1070 because even after repaste with Arctic mx4 it hits over 90C for the CPU in moderate-hardcore gaming. I also can't get Pavlov VR to run at over 65fps because of cpu thermal throttling. My gpu is at around 30% utilization and cpu at 20% in Pavlov. Other games hit higher percentages but yield lower temperatures somehow. do you think I should call msi? For reference, using samsung odyssey plus, laptop has 16gb single channel (maybe that is one problem), but the throttling and high temp is inexcusable

I’d never heard of this company until I saw Dave 2Ds review! Now I can’t stop looking for reviews! I’m very impressed by all the options offered. The underdog is suddenly pushed to the top of the gaming thin and light! This machine is incredible! Gamers have been asking a certain company that came out with that gawd awful red when more than 16 gb of ram would be avail. No answer. The Mag-15 has answered the call to ALL of the requests. All I’m waiting for is the release date!!!! Thanks for the review! I suppose my only request is fan noise and overall touch thermals. Does the machine warm too much for comfort? Is the fan obnoxiously loud?

yep, gaming laptops keep getting better and better. Someone finally realized that
      - you can use magnesium alloy just liek the one used in LG gram
-you can make it without an upside down motherboard(like Acer triton and msi GS65 did)
-you can put a big battery inside, given how much power you get nowdays even with small sized batteries.
and here it is - a nearly perfect laptop. Just needs better fan control, needs to have a 45 watt TDP limit during combined CPU+GPU load and a better binned CPU(like in Helios 300 which is able to have -125 mv out of the box) and it would be pretty much flawless.

Hi Dustin, this was my first look actually, banged out one few hours last night. In my review I will be undervolting more - both the CPU and GPU, as well as testing more games.
I have footage from my 1070 Max Q Razer 15, I think the chassis remains unchanged and indeed this MAG 15 is a good competitor to it. I can include my footage of that as comparison. I really liked my Razer 15 and mine was actually repasted with liquid metal too. I had to downclock that to 3500 Mhz to keep cool, whilst this MAG 15 does a better job. The biggest issue at the moment is the GPU is capped at 74 Degrees max, beyond that it will throttle down. Thanks for watching my video 😀

The one on the razer performs even better than a max -p 2070. I think its because max q chips are binned out of the factory so they consume less power. Problem is, in the eluktronics mech 15 you had the option to use eluktroboost which overclocks the GPU by 300mhz hence easily going to max-p levels, clocks go upto 1900mhz. I dont see this here, even in performance mode. Most max-q 90w 2070s clock average 1500mhz. This one runs around 1200-1300 which is disappointing

If you can just compare performance with the Lenovo Y740, I think it’s a good laptop to compare too since they both have the same specs and people looking to buy laptops like this probably have those 2 on their list to buy.

While most RTX GPU’s run relatively cool compared to the CPU’s this laptops GPU 75c deg throttle could be troublesome, I’m guessing it’s the 80W RTX 2070MQ since the 90W generally runs hotter depending on the cooling.
Wish it had ElectroBoost but now I can see why they don’t have it for this laptop it would most likely thermally throttle the GPU due to the abnormally low GPU throttle limit, that’s a major disappointment.

@@creaturecore13 I spoke with Bob this morning and he said that his CPU is set to throttle at 90Deg C, which I suspect mine is too, so it will reach to about 94 then drop down - depending on the game of course. I will be testing the other modes, Bob said his 1669Ti clocks at 645 mhz in Balanced mode. I still have to test mine, I was up late trying to get the video up. Wanted it live asap to help people make an educated purchase. I also plan on undervolting the GPU and CPU with the aim to get that GPU under 75 degrees and maintaining a higher clock.
From what I have heard from Bob and seen on mine, it does seem that LM does help a bit. Perhaps 5 degrees C ? It actually might be more useful on the GPU to help keep that below the 75 degree threshold

@@OWNORDISOWN I wonder if they chose to throttle the GPU since it is so thin/small even with liquid metal?
I'd rather have lower CPU clock speed/wattage for gaming considering most games are more GPU dependant and allow the GPU to boost higher. Jarrods last video showed that with the zephyrus CPU throttling but still beating 2080 max q's due to no Optimus/115 W 2070.
The eluktroboost feature won't matter that much considering it can't boost higher clock/wattage if it's throttling... Not taking anything away from the machine though. Looks beautiful, really small footprint, great battery life etc.
Just more clear thanks to you and Bob it isn't "perfect" in every way. If someone solely bought this from Dave's video, they'd probably assume this thing could be overclocked like a desktop PC lol.

There is a version of Aero 15 that uses i7-9750h and 1660ti. Battery is pretty much same 94-96Wh, weight is pretty same 1.8-2.0kg, similar price... it's a real comparison to get an idea about thermals, panel quality, performance, consumption, speakers, fan noise, and get an accurate price/quality rate to that laptops category (same with rtx2070 max-q). Love the straight forward to the point quick general review. I'm not sure when you will post a full review but I've been needing to buy a laptop for Video editing and gaming and it seems like it's a very good thing I held off. I'm not very knowledgeable about computers but i'm learning. My major question is can you buy the 2070 w 512GB and 16 RAM and just upgrade the NVme and RAM yourself? I"m not sure how good the Intel NVMe are versus the samsung 970 evo Pro? Also RAM they didn't really indicate which brand they use on their website. Or is it cheaper to upgrade though their website? Is the Optane memory really worth it? From what I read that' not really necessary if you are using NVME drive since the optane is only for booting programs? I know it's a lot of questions just really liking the price for what you would get versus a RAZER BLADE 15 and even a XPS 7590! Even though the screen colors seem to be at lot lower their their counterparts. Would appreciate your help. This would be my first gaming/video editing laptop that i'm trying to decide on. Subbed

Hi Jonathan, interestingly I just did a video comparing the 1060 vs a 1660Ti
      th-cam.com/video/okRZLeVcA2U/w-d-xo.html
There is a 24% improvement on average, and the 2070 MQ will be about 10 to 15% better still.
My buddy has the 1660Ti one with the Coolermaster Master Gel paste and his CPU goes up to 94 and then throttles down so I really recommend the LM repaste.
The biggest issue so far is the GPU is set to throttle at 75 deg C, so this negates the Eluktroboost. We are working on getting a fix for this as it should be 87 degrees. That being said, performance is still pretty good and my CPU runs well.
I really like the build quality, the keyboard. For me I think it is better than the Razer 15 I had.
I still have to do more testing for the review so stay tuned for that!

Definitely Greg, it's a very good laptop. I've basically done my testing and it works really well. I am sure you will like it. My review will be up soon

Dave's review shows very different thermals. Were you still running Aida64 while doing the gaming tests? If you two were off by 10C, I could accept your unit being poorly manufactured or him using shady methodology, but at triple that, there's something wrong here.

No, this review has the correct information and told the true story. You can ask if anyone even trust Dave's review on reddit. He is famous for stating false thermal facts. Also, this mag 15 shares identical internal componets with NEO 15 aka TongFang Mech. www.notebookcheck.net/Schenker-XMG-Neo-15-i7-8750H-RTX-2070-Max-Q-Tongfang-GK5CQ7Z-Laptop-Review.415117.0.html You can do your own DD for a comparison.

Believe me, my testing is 100% accurate. Physics is physics, play a game long enough in such a small chassis with the wattage pulled there is going to be heat. I'm not saying this is a bad laptop at all, its very nice and I would own one in a heart beat but to say that it magically cools like Dave said is, well, embellishing at best.

I filmed that first because I wanted to know what I was dealing with before I started talking :)

Did you happen to test electroboost on the 2070 Max q? Did the performance improve by any margin?
