The Emerald Forest Trailer - Directed by John Boorman and starring Powers Boothe, William Rodriguez, Charley Boorman, Eduardo Conde, Ariel Coelho. After the son of engineer Bill Markham is abducted by an aboriginal tribe on the edge of the rain forest, the engineer spends the next 10 years searching for him.

The critics loved this film. It has almost everything; culture clash, Amazonian adventure, capitalist exploitation, mystery, great scenery, and an almost unique story. If you don't appreciate it, there's something wrong with you. A timeless classic!

I saw this in 1985 around the time of my 12th birthday. A lost classic of the 80s.
I watched this movie 20+ years ago and couldn't remember the title only the name Tommy. Took me a while to finally find this film again. A hidden classic.

I remember my cousin went to see this movie in theatre when released and was telling about it few days later.I didn't see this movie till release on vhs video about a year later.
Great movie , great cast , powers booth never did a bad movie.

John Boorman was such a nut. I love almost all of his films. It's funny, because some movies critics loved, and some they absolutely hated.

RIP Powers Boothe
Powers Boothe portrays an engineer working on a dam project in Brazil. His 7-year-old son Tommy gets lost in the jungle, later to be raised by a peaceful tribe called "The Invisible People". While searching for his son every year, he finally gets close 10 years later and runs afoul of a malevolent, cannibalistic tribe called "The Fierce People". After escaping them, he and Tommy end up hiding from The Fierce People at the same waterfall, after which Tommy introduces his father to his new family, the Invisible People... including Tommy's new wife.
After escorting his father back to the jungle's edge, Tommy returns to find that the Fierce People - now armed with guns - have wiped out his village and taken all of the women. Tommy tracks his father down and the two of them coordinate a rescue effort to save the girls and destroy the dam (which will flood the lowlands where the Invisible People live).
Wish the whole movie was uploaded here on TH-cam. Then I could die happy.

cynthia ann parker in real life was abducted by the indians when she was a child and rejoined white society 24 years later. She wanted no part of society and wanted to go back with the comanche indians. There are some similarities of her story and this movie. Great movie.

this engineer is working on a dam in the Amazon and his son (just a kid) is kidnapped by that while he’s there on the job site with him. Every year for a decade the father went back there to look for him, and after 10 years he finds him. I guess it’s based on a true story.
