Doubting my Sanity (Starting my DIY Desktop-Laptop Build)

- I built a laptop using 3d printed parts, but reinforced and finished properly to look similar to an actual production laptop you might find in a store.
All the parts are desktop hardware, with a full-power CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 5600X) as well as a full power desktop GPU (XFX RX6600).
This build video is part 1 of 2.

More customizable than Framework 🔥🔥🔥
probably cheaper too
Ah a arch user 😮
@@truegigachad11 an* (I use arch btw)
Frame work is expensive as hell, tbh thats the only problem with it
@@Roman_neBlbecsurfshark academy refrence???
I love the idea of this video, I think the only thing stopping you from getting a ton of views on this video is the ending that's forcing us to wait for a part two, honestly if this was a 20 min vid with a finished project in the end I'd totally watch it
It’s not really that simple - a project like this takes many weeks and a small TH-camr without any content would benefit much more from multiple videos instead of one.
@@tyleg3nd yeah what he suggested just brings more comfort to us the viewer but we also have to think about him lol
Honestly, 63k views in 2 weeks for a second video doesn't seem bad
@@Hlilii It is though for this type of quality.
@@V3RT3X_PINNACLE yeah you're completely right, just wanna say that us thinking about him is not what will bring more views, it's just a suggestion for if he wants to gain more views, when you're thinking about views your number one priority is the comfort of the viewer :)
Not only the madman is actually doing it, he's poking fun at all those dumb not-really-laptop projects, and the subtitles are actually readable unlike on channels with millions of subs. Respect.
Such a great video idea too, and one of the first successful laptop projects I've really ever seen
This one doesn't have a battery, so it seems like the projects that are actually portable are closer in function to a laptop than this version.
Why is no one talking about the fact that this is the 2nd video of this channel. How can this guy make a quality video better then a good bit of mid tech youtubers, while also hitting a home run on such a difficult task.
Right? It's so well shot and edited. Commenting for the algorithm.
You said it guy's! ❤ This dude is on point......keep it up brother!
He studied and followed the examples to a tee. He took it SERIOUSLY.
This is criminally underrated, i saw the thumbnail and i thought this would be someone with hundreds of thousands of subs, but nope, a small TH-camr with amazing potential!
I agree
Same!
Where’s the 1 million subs at?
lol 😂
uhm they are coming
Just the fact alone that you're doing this project with those limitations is insane enough. Excited to see where this goes
Laptop GPUs in the future should be like expansion modules you can insert on the back of your laptop.
At this point, just use the external gpu.
Laptop gpu extension modules used to exists, then they got removed by manufacturers and went extinct, like swappable laptop cpus, because upgradability would allow you to use your laptop too long
Framework laptops already do this 😅
@@liono256 i like framework but they dont sell world wide, besides, mountains of bad and poorly designed laptops still exists
Still wish for swappable laptop cpus to come back
Underrated Asf
This is gonna blow up🔥
I came here expecting a bulk laptop but that's way better than my own laptop😭😭
when do you post part 2?
I didn’t even realize I was watching a small TH-camr from the quality of content you make! Keep up the great work, you definitely deserve more subs!
Sign me up for part 2
This brings me back like 9 years with PC-Welt's "Höllenmaschine portable"
I will be waiting for the next part
dang this is so cool!
that is some commendable dedication
this guy only has 2 videos but the quality is surprisingly good, I hope you get to 1mil one day
stick a 4090 in there and cook ya breakfast
This is one of the best videos I've seen on this platform in a while. Keep up the good work.
why not go with the rtx 4060 instead it takes lower wattage and preformes better
how is this not viral. Great work btw
bro i really want a 3d printer now so i can follow along
How do you not have at least 50K subs?!?!?!
Great video bro 👍
hey! did u download drivers for the trackpad?
USE PCB WAY TO MAKE A TITANIUM CASE ITS WAY BETTERRRRR
Why the subs are too low
This guy needs some raise
So this is a cool project but I do find it kind of funny that you started this with the idea of making it fully upgradeable with off-the-shelf parts only to then permanently modify every single piece of it. Doesn't really make the laptop fully upgradeable anymore when you have to make bespoke parts for each piece.
Actually crazy and underrated as hell
for the algorithm :)
Can we have the 3d print files please 🙏
More please
nice job, i like the idea and how it looks at the end
you could've gone with i9 13900t as it has 35 watt tdp
too expensive that 5500 and motherboard is 100usd
While watching I thought he had like 3 million subs! Only 3800.. soo underrated! Hope this blows up 🔥
Wow, what a Video!!! Respect!!!
You can just use desktop parts but striped out to make it as thin as a laptop? And though framework would be the solution. [8_0]
Drop the next video asap,
Something great is waiting for you ahead, all the best brother
The great thing ahead of me is this video
I'm gonna be here waiting for the next part.
I'd love to make something like this in the future
WHY DONT YOU USE SFF GPU?????????? LIKE A1000, and actually will be upgradeable than this (heatsink probably is not a universal). CPU heatsink is ok, if it works, cuz its for entire slot. The question is in battery life. You can use integrated gpu in cpu for efficiency in power use.
a quick note on AMD TDP and PPT specifications
that "65W TDP" CPU actually will consume up to 88 watts, because its PPT, also known as The Actual Amount Of Power Your AMD CPU Uses Because TDP Does Not Equal Power Consumption, is 88 watts. won't really affect this build, but it is worth knowing in the future. Awesome video otherwise!!
great video although I am curious about how you will solve the power delivery problem or the bypass charging system. Most of the components you are using will generate around 400+w that's the main reason other components including desktop GPU and laptop GPU are different. I also recommend switching to a low-profile GPU like the 4060 as it will lower the power needed in your laptop.
What about you make the GPU stick out at the laptops rear? That way you can mount any GPU possible. Integrated graphics still exist in case you're not having another GPU.
Also, about the cooling. What about a blower fan sucking from below, and instead of heatpipes, you mount a heatsink which can sick in air from the side, but directs the air into the laptops exhaust?
This is amazing, love seeing it.
It's really funny, I printed a pc console case and welded 4 sections together the exact same way XD. I'm curious though, why not try printing with something like PETG? Would that still get too hot?
I know you said STX boards aren't very common, but it's the form factor used by all of the tiny OEM PCs out there, so while finding just the board purchasable for consumers is a bit tricky, I don't think it would become impossible for you to find something at any given point. Worst case scenario you can just buy and strip an OEM PC off eBay or something.
Great video! Underrated as fuck. I would have gone with a ryzen 7 8700g instead as the 780m is great for 1080p gaming and it is a 65w cpu
How thick is the PSU for this laptop? The thinnest one I could find is 4cm, which is too thick even for 2000s thinkpad levels
Great dude, there is a lot of issues i think you will face because of the heat, but i expect the rest of the project.
I'm building similar pc too, but mine is 3cm high at the front and 7cm at the back, so i can use flex psu, 37mm noctua cooler for cpu and single slot GPU.
You just missed camm ram just barely, it's ultra low profile and higher bandwidth too
I know this is pretty late but try using mini dc fans along the GPU and CPU heatsink to further help with cooling also get a carbon fiber/metal baseplate for the laptop as in my experience putting a motherboard with just heatsinks will produce a LOT of heat so if its in your budget get better thermals such as thermal padding everywhere that most laptops companies use to keep temperatures low without active cooling also please don't rip out motherboard parts and then check if the board is responding speaking from experience motherboard are the most stupidly complicated pc parts after the PSU you don't want to mess up the power grid or such in the motherboard and lastly keep up the good work.
Nice! Maybe one with laptop parts next time? Imagine if we normalized custom laptops!
The most surprising part of the build is that it's incredibly close to my own personal desktop computer in terms of specs. Like, with the right tooling I could viably portabilize my own PC
Can't wait for the next video, ❤
Amazing video! This is a very cool project and you have great production quality!
Hey can you make a graphics card from computer scratches I would love to see that video but please make it more detailed that would be helpful for everyone
This is insane! I think you could try liquid cooling it as a radiator is still going to be kinda thin but much better than any custom designs. Also, you should try adding a battery (even if it only lasts 30 seconds lol)
“3D printed parts don’t do well with heat”. That’s not accurate, it depends a lot on the material. It’s one thing to print with PLA and another to print with high temperature nylon.
Hi, me and a friend of mine are doing something simular for a school project, could we maybe ask you a few questions about how you did it.
Please share where you found this pcu, couldn't find any DC to DC with 8pin
Hey brother! are you looking for a video editor for high-quality edits? let me know, if you’re interested.
nice stuff man
I thought of this a while ago and even made some cool draw-ups and designs for it but I aint ever got the time or money to do it, massive dubs to you, even if you aint finish it yet
also you want some solutions to various problems with this project, i got far with the technical/theoretical aspects of it at least
Looking good so far! I thought you'd go the water cooling route for better cooling and with the space restraints.
dang you made me subscribe by that part 1 of 3 part
imagine if diy perks made this video with all of his machines and brass parts
I’ve planned to do the same project but the challenge is how to laid down desktop ram
If a single person can do it at home with their research, I am sure major companies can make such products but they wont..
This video gave me a reason to live for, I am so excited for pt 2 and Im wondering if the next printed revision will need vents on the bottom. I also wonder if he'll be able to put a battery in there that wont explode
i think you are amazing at this point, but dont need to rush the video since some people like me really want to enjoy this video as much as possible so it would be nice for the video a bit longer
You should've done a ryzen 5 7600x and a Radeon rx 7600 instead though I'm not sure you could the same size of memory
Im looking at making my own custom made laptop chassis and pcs using 3d printing and various other methods so this was an awesome video for me thanks man
Ngl this is really interesting. No one has tried to do it just because it is to complicated. Well done champ!!!
I’m also kinda doing this so like is it ok if u could tell me which power supply u use? If u can thanks
Not bad, but how you can put a battery to power on several hours? I think you make your own keyboard and touchpad from ewaste touchpad. I think the case can't handle the weight and need reinforcement.
man this is insane i can't donate you as i am student but i wanted to also you are like the furture me who makes this kinda things. love from India❤
712 subs? wtf?
The fact this only has 9K views is insane. We need to spread the word about this. This is Optimum FormD T1 build levels of insanity. Probably more
Remember me when youll get 100Million subscribers plzzzzz
Waiting for the finished product was cool… but now where’s that mixtape at? 🔥
make sure that the JBWELD isnt electrically conductive
Great job, I would love to reach your level on my channel too.
Impressive u deserve way more subscribers count me in as your new subscriber and please post more videos whenever you get chance
you can use mini graphics cards like rtx 4060 mini version
Wow! This was really well done! Subbed, can't wait for the next part :D
you should use a UPS to connect to your powersupply to make it portable
I just binge watched all of your videos. So refreshing, so radically honest, and absolutely hilarious!! (@DrunkToddler) lmfao!! You Sir, are brilliantly talented on all fronts! Thank YOU! Also, Great job on building the only authentic laptop in the world! Bravo!
And then in a year or two he creates a new company with this niche (is that the right word?) idea
Keep it up!
I'm subscribing to this channel early on because I see that it will be popular
always seen laptops turned to desktops, this is *N E W*
4:09 is crazy
Amazing keep it up pls i am posting this for the youtube algorithim
Make the full video i subscribed just to see you make this and give it life
I wanna see the results ASAP please it's looking really good
"I took the parts of a Ferrari and turned it into a Harley Davidson"
That monitor looks great. 1440 is 10 times better than 1080
i always learn something new and interesting from your content!
If you got a b series mobo you could undervolt the cpu for better temps
I'll be really sad if you dont finish this project 😅
Create a channel home page please or else many viewers wont see your other videos
