Talya Elitzer is the co-founder of Godmode, a GRAMMY-nominated artist development company whose label and management clients include genre-breaking artists like Channel Tres, JPEGMAFIA, and Yaeji. Prior to Godmode, Elitzer was a Senior A&R at Capitol Records (Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Beck), and a previous booking agent for WME (Britney Spears, Grace Jones) and Mick Management (John Mayer, Sarah McLachlan).
At Godmode, Elitzer takes an unorthodox approach to artist development and marketing, with an unusually high track record for breaking artists who don't quite fit into pre-existing formats. She focuses on building sustainable operations for her artists, so they can maintain an uncompromising approach to their work. Learn more about Godmode: www.godmodemusic.com/

Thanks, Ari, for inviting Talya on the show, she shared tons of current valuable insights on how the industry is behaving at the moment. I had to watch the video a second time to fully digest everything. She's extremely savvy; I need someone like that in my network. Your content is truly top notch when it comes to the industry. Keep on doing what you do!!!! Thanks again!!!
I'm a huge fan of the Godmode label, and all the artists they've helped develop. Thanks for this amazing discussion!
I am going the independent route forsure
Reached out, hopefully their management team is solid and engaging haha 🤞🏽🤞🏽
I can’t believe more people aren’t getting in on this content!!
Love your videos, very raw and informative!
Keep up the good work bro! Valuable info
you said it, that was fantastic, thanks to you both.
I actually love your podcast bro. insider knowledge like this consistently is amazing frfr
Very informative, you keep it simple and your questions are spot on. You really know how to get the information from your guests.
Fantastic episode Ari, thank you so much! Really great questions and awesome insights shared. 🙏
Ari, I have been binging your show for the past three weeks. I just wanted to show you my appreciation for all your hard work and putting out this great information.
Very helpful content thank you
Great insight! Thanks
Amazing interview. Thank you both so much.
It’s very interesting hearing about the unique creativity that goes into marketing an artist. In a perfect world marketing and music creation go hand and hand.
This was very informative
Super cool!!!
Another useful, thought-provoking interview! I especially liked that Talya spoke about moving/influencing culture as a measure of how to make it in the new music business... Thank you, Talya and Ari!
thank you!
@@ArisTake I am listening to yet another interview today (with Jessica Severn) about artist branding. These conversations are a tremendous resource. Thank you for making and sharing them with the rest of us!
I’ve been a fan since forever! Needed to hear this!
I am on my 4th listen to Ari’s book on audio I expect to listen 10 times! I am a 66 yr old dude with a unique background I need to learn the new music business because I’m a guitar singer songwriter recording & performance artist just now beginning my music career although I’ve been playing since I was 11. My unique background is I spent 32 yrs in federal prison where I could play music but couldn’t be in the music business or use the internet once it started. I’ve been out of prison 12 years now. 😊
Hey Ari, great conversation here. What's the best way to get working with godmode? Don't see much on their website about accepting new artists, just an email address.
Talya and Nick are great. Good to see GodMode’s growth.
As an artist whose worked in tech and startups outside of my music career I'm SUPER glad that Talya brought up the VC comparison because it is BANG ON. Nowadays they are like two sides of the same coin and understanding the similarities in their structures clears up A LOT of ambiguity so you can adjust your expectations, strategies and goals accordingly! 💪
Huge fan of Godmode and JPEGMAFIA and I hope to work with them both some day. Thanks for doing this one Ari!
Stumbled upon this channel by accident. This episode really is top banana.
Awesome 😎
this was great, i feel like alot of people kind of talk in vague generalities when it comes to marketing their artists so to hear talya openly talk about different strategies like aiming for australian radio and the reasoning behind it, having internet ninjas plant reddit memes and having jpegmafia send exclusive links to buy tickets directly to fans was interesting, cheers ari
appreciate it!
Good show. Not much on their website.
VERY INSIGHTFUL
Great insight given on so many things in this interview. Kind of disheartening to us "older" artists LOL that substance and great timeless songwriting still isn't (and I guess will never be) a priority mainstream thing, but it is what it is. Great music from the 60s and 70s, aka classic rock will sadly remain a thing of the past. 🤷🤔
If you wanna be in the top 200 billboard how many people should either stream or buy your single?
Love to hear feelings about the elephant in the room - ‘Music NFTs’
So many jewels.
Is there a "diamond heist" somewhere in this video? I just watched the whole thing, and... I can't find it. Can I please get a time stamp for this large amount of jewels you've mentioned ?
Facts though
How do you feel about TH-cam Shorts?
Another great tool for creatives to embrace! Check out all the latest Shorts on our channel.
Dear Ari's Take: My two cents, without watching the video: I surmise that record labels will *tell you what they want to hear!* That's fair. Before studying an instrument, learn the music *business,* learn how to save resources -- and *make bread.* One must earn a living from music -- or his stage becomes a *fishbowl* and his audiences become mocking beasts!
Their website not functioning
I have tried to contact them several times but have received no response. Can anyone please give me their contact info. Their website just throws you into an "infinite loop." Thank you.
20 gs on ig story ads and little to no return, thus could likely be spent elsewhere? Ouch.
Didn't get Yaeji get completely ripped off by Godmode?
Sexy hair like Ari is really the secret to success in music industry! Lol ✌️🏼🤪
