I achieved my first NMM ever as a noob painter, following your tutorial, and I'm satisfied with the result. Thanks for your clear and efficient demonstration ! 😀
Thanks for such thorough detail, I realise now I've not been letting my glaze dry before next layer, I end up in a right mess just pushing paint round, completely losing sight of what I'm doing. Subscribed for more, I'm going to need it!
I agree, this is a really good tutorial for those of us who are curious about NMM but haven't the faintest idea where to start (AKA being intimidated by it). This lays it out nice and clear, which is appreciated on my part. I've seen a few videos on here that aren't nearly as clear and concise as this one is, and thank you for going to that trouble, sir!
Your videos get me excited to go and paint new things, even though I'm having a little breather from a 3 hour painting session 😆 amazing work, thank you!

With glazing you can ALWAYS go further but in the end you have to set yourself a goal. This isn't a competition piece at all and I didn't wanted to spend the extra time to turn her into one. Good luck and enjoy the amazing model
The initial sketch has to be done thinking about the four sources of light I explain in the beginning. You need to imagine them based on those. As for the final white reflections, it's more instinct than anything, imagine where light would reflect off the surface. I suggest you take a look at nmm minis and learn from them, also classic paintings by the masters are an amazing resource to understand NMM.

As for the final white reflections, it's more instinct than anything, imagine where light would reflect off the surface. I suggest you take a look at nmm minis and learn from them, also classic paintings by the masters are an amazing resource to understand NMM.
Wow, this is the first video on NMM that really clicked with me and I'm eager to try it. When you turn your paints into glazes, are you just adding water or are you also adding a medium to them?
Just water, but feel free to use medium if that helps you.
Love the video! And all your other stuff too, super helpful. If I wanted it to be a more grey/silver color (like for a unit of necron warriors) what colors would you recommend?
Just use neutral or warm greys. Stormvermin Fur and Skavenblight Dinge for example then move into the neutral tones

First and foremost, thanks a lot. I was wondering if there is any chance you can do something similar for the silver nmm :)
I might do Silver at some point, but copper is first in the list
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I would truly love the Silver, but the copper also it would be a great thing. Again, thanks.
One key with NMM silver is to ensure you minimize the mid-tone, or else it winds up looking like stone. Contrast is king.
Indeed it is
Hello Juan,
How are you doing your glaze ? If I use water, it makes a kind of stains not a fade !
I just use water, you might have too much paint in your brush, you want to discharge the brush a bit before hitting the model
JuanHidalgo Miniatures thanks Juan, it will help me !
Really like how this turned out. I like gold NMM, but, most of the steel/silver ones don't look right to me. Yours looks awesome! Stay safe.

Hey, I just wanted to say you do some awesome work with contrasts. Also, do you think you could do a Kabalite Warrior from the Kabal of the Black Heart? Do you think contrasts can be used effectively on large flat surfaces like Drukhari vehicles? I'm inclined to say no.
Not the best for vehicles but if you have an airbrush it can definitely be done
Sorely tempted to do an entire grey nights army like this, but doing just 5 guys in gold NMM took me 2 months!😂
DO IT!
Do you think there is a way to mix paints to get Thunderhawk Blue? I completely forgot to pick some up the other day and I really don't want to make the hour-long drive for one pot of paint.
Mix Incubi Darkness and Administratum Grey 1:1 that should give you a very similar look
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures thank you!! I'm going to attempt first nmm model later today and I love this tutorial. Super helpful :)
Thank you for watching!
When using your paints as glazes, what ratio of water to paint are you working with?.
No ratios, each paint from each manufacturer is different and requires different amount of water, it's something you need to learn to do by feel sorry.
That's why I show you the consistency on my thumb, also all my Citadel paints are pre-thinned when I transferred them to droppers so even if I gave you a number that number wouldn't be of any use.
