    This might not be on the same level as what Micheal did but it's still a catchy little tune with a great hook (sounds very Beverly Hills Cop Harold Faltermeyer-ish too). Bob Giraldi really left his mark in the 80's directing some of the most memorable videos of that era (Beat It, Say Say Say, Hello, Love Is A Battlefield, etc...)

    The song and music video is so very 1984!! This was a huge hit in Europe. Jermaine come across like a more masculine athletic version of Michael. Jermaine actually did okay in the music industry in the 1980's with solo hits and a record with Whitney Houston and an even bigger global hit with Pia Zadora.

    I am so tired of people making competition between brothers Jermaine and Michael Jackson. Family will always stick together and have each other's back. People should remember that it was the work of six brothers that made the Jackson 5 worthy of being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and they did it with TWO lead singers: Jermaine and Michael.

    Jermaine was a good brother to Michael. As a family of two parents and nine children, they were quite a big family, and the oldest child was almost 16 years older than the youngest. In his biography of Michael, called Through a Brother's Eyes, Jermaine speaks about his relationship with his younger brother (he was about 3 years older than Michael). Its a really good book

      You know I agree, I think that all the brothers and sisters all had their own talents, strengths, and weakness just like any family has. I also think that the music business is very hard and very competitive. I'm sure that it must've been hard for every Jackson member to be marketed for success and to compete with one another I mean could you imagine the awards... and the winner is this Jackson or that Jackson or what about that Jackson. I wonder if that was a consideration among some sort of familial agreement that perhaps they will not try to upstage one another. Or maybe even because Michael had all the right people like Quincy Jones and the many others to work with him and market him in such a way that just made him succeed more than his male siblings. I gotta say...Jermaine's vocals sounded pretty strong... just sayin'.

    • @57highland
      @57highland 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Raymond Johnson Well, I think that Jermaine had a good voice and they all could dance pretty well; in fact, when they were still teenagers in the Jackson 5, Marlon was thought (by his brothers!) to be the best dancer for a while there. I wonder if the others, except for the tour ("Victory"?) they did in the 80's, just wanted to retire. And yes, music has changed since the 80's, sure not for the better.

Who did his choreography, Gary Coleman?!? And why is he coated with Vaseline for most of his videos? Was greasy ever sexy? Oh my, poor guy. This vid was so bad it was actually... no. No it wasn't. It was just bad. But the 1980s were chock full of "What were we thinking" moments, and the song was actually catchy as hell. I forgive him. :)

    Great song, great music video! 1984 was a great year for music! I recently heard this on the August 18th, 1984 "American Top 40 - The '80s" countdown.It was the #28 song in the countdown.
    Bravo, Jermaine Jackson!

    It is amazing mid point in this song there is a keyboard part....when I hear it I am 19 years old again in Honolulu in the Army.....I never paid any attention to this song back then....but of course it was being played at certain times back then and it so takes me back for some reason probably because this song has not been played on the radio since 1984.....

    If I'm being honest, Jermaine was a better vocalist than MJ, his voice was also more powerful.
    MJ completely demolishes him in dancing though😂 Although Jermaine can play instruments too so...

    • @Miketendo93
      @Miketendo93 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel that way too! I think all the Jacksons didn't have strong voices but Jermaine had the strongest/best voice of the boys. While Rebbie was to the girls

    • @wilykat
      @wilykat 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jermaine was not a better vocalist than MJ. RUBBISH. If that was the case then Michael wouldn't have been the lead singer for all those years and been the icon that he is today. Jermaine could sing though. I'll never deny that.

      If he wasn't Michael's brother, he might have had a nice career. Not superstar career, but he could have done OK because he could sing. He just couldn't sing, dance or have stage presence like Michael, which is what a lot of people in the business back then wanted from him

    • @patgrice_comedy
      @patgrice_comedy 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RacerSpeed2020 My only problem with that is how they tried to compare the two when for one, Jermaine went solo before Michael's successful solo albums and second, Michael couldn't really sing honestly. I'm a Michael Jackson fan myself but lets call a spade a spade.
