They are all talented, but Michael was truly a natural born star and everyone saw it. People were immediately attracted to him and his undeniable presence. I believe they were all a little jealous. I mean who wouldn’t be. Nobody is running out looking for albums by Jermaine. Michael’s music is still selling worldwide as we speak. He was truly a phenomenon.

What Jermaine said at @10:44 is so spot on. Hollywood definitely isolated MJ from the rest of his family and singled him out. And sure enough, he lost his mind. He was the glorious Michael Jackson, but he was extremely lonely. And it is true, if you are not apart of a tribe or a family, you are less likely to survive in the world.

It is common knowledge that Jermaine and Randy were but two of several members of the family that used Mama Katherine to get Michael to give them $$$$$$ and she would do it. It frustrated Michael so much NO ONE could just pop up to Neverland. Saddest part is when Michael passed Janet and LaToya went to the house where he died grabbing money, filling garbage bags of his belongings. Basic scavenger styff. And I think you might have heard.or read about a particularly ugly time when Janet, Randy and Jermaine mobbed over to Mama K's DEMANDING to be given some of MJ's money. I will never understand Janet's participation in this extremely ugly incident as she had HER OWN money, but I do know I haven't been able to look at her the same again.

Also when my father died of course we went to his place to clean up, gather important papers, family momentous $ etc. Family should get it not the state bottom line. Michael felt responsible to help his brothers & sisters when they were in need. There's nothing wrong with that. My problem is everyone else besides family using Michael. He had a very kind & big heart. That sometimes got him into big trouble.

I say that for the Jackson brothers..and Joseph also. Nobody knows what his true pressures were. 9 living children, a young wife...in Jim crow era...working 2 steel mill jobs 16 hrs A day 6 days a week in a 2 bedroom house...all the children need and want something different everyday. No matter what tho, Joseph didn't leave Mrs. Katherine with the load. He could have went to work and kept driving to California on his own. He never left his family. Joseph did what he could to make sure his family HIS CHILDREN were successful. Ppl, men now a days can handle 1 child and a young wife in a 2 bedroom working crazy hrs because the family depends on him to provide. Most men today find ANY REASON to leave. We gotta give Joe some credit. He was very hard, strict, controlling...sometimes abusive and worked those boys past exhaustion. But he used his know how from the steel mills and molded his family into icon status for all time. The Jackson name is the golden ticket in Hollywood. We can fault Joseph for ALOT of things but just as bad as he was he meant well. He was from a different time. I bet parents now call Joseph Jackson from the grave and want him to whoop their disrespectful, ungrateful... intitled kids into shape so they appreciate... understand and respect their parents. Some kids now a days could benefit from ol joes switch or belt 😅.

It wasn't all Michael, the family was dysfunctional and Michael put distance between him and his brothers for a good reason. If Michael didn't step away and do his own thing they would have held him back to no end, he was already feeling the pressure at the start of the 80's when he waned to branch out on his own. Michael was always close to his Mother and he never stopped supporting his family financially, but his brothers did a lot of things that affected him throughout his life so I don't blame him for needing space fro them.
Every time they did get together MJ was pressured to have some reunion tour with them because they wanted the money, even going as far as getting his mother to try and talk him into certain business deals that weren't good for MJ. There was a lot of pressure put on him and he did the right thing in keeping some distance in my opinion.

He was nurturing and supportive to Tito's sons, Taj, Taryll and TJ. He was their mentor and he signed them to his label MJ Productions. I do understand that Michael didn't wanted to be always responsible for the financial problems of his brothers. They always wanted something from him. They behaved almost like all the other people in Michael's life. It's so clear to me, that this was a big problem in Michael's life. The brothers often asked Katherine to ask Michael for more and more money because they had house payments, child supports...Michael didn't want to provide them with a life long financial support. Michael didn't include his father and brothers in his will. Michael's father demanded a monthly allowance from the Michael Jackson Estate. So, yes, I fully support your statements!

The world did compare Germaine to Michael and definitely tried to compete Janet to Michael. Tried to destroyed the father but he said it without daddy it wouldn't be a Jackson 5. No Tina Turner without Ike. Issac Hayes said he was so poor he prayed every night as a kid for food and a bed to sleep in. I'm nearly 50yo I spent my entire life following the Jackson family. Yes, Michael is a monumental Once in a Lifetime talent on par with Mozart, etc... but NO ONE becomes a success in a vacuum. Michael had the love and support of his FAMILY. The Jacksons are without a doubt THE greatest entertainment FAMILY in music history! His brother talks about how they all lived together in a massive mansion, each having their own 'wing' of the house and never seeing each other for days or weeks at a time! Jermaine Dupri dating Janet said hanging out with the Jacksons (including Michael) was just like any other normal Black family, they wasn't like what you saw on TV

Jermaine wanted that the family stays always together. Michael had to follow his own career, to develop his own style of music and dance moves. He had to break away from the family to find his own unique, authentic way of creativity. The way he pronounced his words with his own flavor and his own style and swag set influences for years to come and changed music forever. They still do it in pop music today. He had to do this alone, his brother's were not able to hold him back or they realized that they just were not equal at his level of talent.

Jermaine first cheated on Hazel Gordy with a woman named Margaret Maldonado and they had 2 sons together and yeah he did leave first and was insanely jealous of Michael and his success, hence the song Word To The Bad, a jealous and insulting shot at Michael. Jermaine 's love for women is public knowledge, he has always been into himself, sure he loves his family, and is very talented but personally and speaking for myself he is just too egotistical and self centered, always craved Michael 's success and popularity. What he did to Randy was absolutely horrible, writing a song like that about Michael is one thing but doing what he did to Randy was inexcusable and so very hard on Randy, that's why the bond between them is broken ( and Alejandra, well don't make me lose my religion, please) she's a jezebel personified, but no Randy and Alejandra never married. Jermaine is consistent as hell. Outside forces tried & continue to try to crack that family unity.
The siblings fight & get on each other's nerves but when all is said & done, THEY ARE TOGETHER.
Remember, it was BROTHER RANDY who got Michael in contact with Tom Mesereau, the lawyer who saved Michael from the kangaroo court Tom Sneddon tried to snare him in. The family came to that courtroom in all dressed in White UNIFIED.
The family always said they were trying to get through that barrier between Michael & Michael's circle.
The barrier began forming after the move from Motown & definitely by Off The Wall after Michael removes Joe as manager.
But Thriller is when that barrier became almost insurmountable. Too much fame forced Michael into seclusion.
Even from his own family. And he kept looking for outside families to befriend to get that family feeling back.
Once his brothers & sisters grew up & had families of their own, it would never be the same as the old days.
Michael hated when his brothers got married & moved out in the Jackson 5 days.
In a strange way, Michael's Witchhunts forced him to reforge bonds with his family again.
When his professional life had a setback, it was an opportunity for his personal life to repair.
His fans are a family too but way too crazy for a proper family life. He needed to stay bonded to his blood family.
Success cracked the Jackson Family, there's no doubt about it. But the Jacksons are not broken.
Katherine made sure of that. She holds that whole family together to this day. Jermaine remembers what it was all about.

@@dctalk1117I agree with you on that. Look at Frankie Lymon. Just pulled him away from group as a solo act. Who knows, Michael starting without his brothers and family behind him, he may have died before he reached adulthood.

That’s what I said he would’ve been successful with or without. Jermaine aswell Michael Jackson just had better writers and producers on his team n Michael had better influences n stuff that created who he was as a artist Michael Jackson was visionary jermain was just a artist. Michael Jackson was a brand , jermain was just a singer. But I don’t really think jermain was hateing I just think jermain wanted Michael to stay close to the family so Michael wouldn’t self destruct himself but Michael didn’t want nothing to do with the family he wanted be isolated away from the family n be in his own world.

@@rhondapalmer1564 I think unfortunately Jermaine knew that they could only be a successful music band with Michael. He knew without Michael they wouldn't have any real success or money. Michael on the other hand knew that his career with his brother would always be limited. Michael didn't want to have nothing to do with the family, he wanted to follow his dreams. He needed to express himself through music and dance. He was so much more than just an artist. Michael knew he had to follow his self-transformation. He had so much more potential and he wanted to live it. That has nothing to do with the family. He wanted to be true to himself, to be in his authentic self. They often had regular family meetings. He was always close to his family.

This Jackson 5 guy is making sense . Do not forget the days of little beginning. There is always one person in a family that tries to keep the bound of unity from outside influence, especially when success in-roads. Unity is the key. Without it, everything will go almost spontaneous.

I remember watching The Jackson 5, as a kid in rural North Carolina. My eyes and ears were glued to the television! That is exactly where it all began! However it began it began right! I kept up even to today, some 50+ years! The Jackson 5 were indeed a magical moment in time, and being from that era, I can say, they drove a nail in the heart of racism! I will never forget The Jackson 5, and growing up, growing old with them! 😊Hats off to the whole family! 🥰

I love them ...the Jacksons. They were in our house on the 'record player', loud and in effect every day (when my parents would go to work), we would jam out with them! Their songs and style were mimicked in talent shows and their songs were always being sung on the school bus, and everybody picked a favorite and wanted to be just like him (or her...with Janet) I was no exception. On dreamy summer nights me and my sisters would lay across the bed and listen to them and talk about which one was the cutest, or could sing the best. Our walls and notebooks always had a picture of them. We sang along, practiced harmony, and today it still is a factor when I sing.
We picked and laughed and sang along, and got quiet and attentive when the ballads were knocked out. We felt like they really liked us and cared about us as fans....
Well, we are all grown now. Like them, our brother and our father (and unlike them, our mother) are transcended, so we are three less. They are fortunate to still have their mother in their grown years.....But we still love them very much...even if they don't know it....and can't in any way return that same feeling. its okay...because, at any time I can go to my media of choice and pull them up and reminisce. The only thing I wish I would have done is have more videos of my brother, who is now gone, and my own folks. I have one of David, that I listen to when I want to hear his voice. It must be fantastic to be able to hear them (Michael, and Joe) after they are now gone. Families matter.... and no publicity or no people can pull them apart or replace what they have for each other.

Michael was just simply the best. He knew how to sing specific notes “high notes at that”. He knew how to dance perfectly and he knew how to perfect the sound of pop. It makes me sad, that his brothers envied him, even tho I could already could tell, in interviews how they would look at him. Powerful!
Jermaine thank you for sharing the “Jackson Family Legacy” and the profound and inspiring leadership your “father” provided to the success of your entire family!
The media has spent the last 50 years demonizing, demeaning and vilifying your father as a monster and a hindrance to the family.
Even this interview was slanted to divide the Jackson family as a unit and from the point of view of your father as an abuser versus a visionary disciplinary who saw the greatness in all of you before the world was forced to acknowledge it.
