The " Hildegarde von Blingen' " channel (yes, that's the way it's spelled, apostrophe and all) features a woman with an ethereal voice who sings and arranges popular songs in a Medieval style, "Bardcore". She has also performed some of the actual Hildegard's music. It's all very lovely. I believe the creator also does the Medieval-style drawings that accompany the songs.
I am a herbalist and a colleague introduced me to her work in health a few years ago. She was then instrumental in my return to the Catholic Church! Loved your summary on her life. I have a few of her books and will go back to reading them again as you just inspired me to get to know her work more deeply. She is an amazing woman in so many ways and I love the was a fellow herbalist. Do you have a favourite book of hers? 🕊️
i know her from her inclusion of minerals in her medical remedies, i read about her once while doing some research for a paper i was writing on women in geology
I somehow discovered Hildegard's music years ago, and then a relative did some genealogical work on our family, and I learned that I have a maternal ancestor from Staudernheim, a village not very far from Disibodenberg. I was excited about that very distant connection to Hildegard.
I've been meaning to look more into Hildegard of Bingen, I got a glimpse of her music while studying for a masters in music, but she is a prominent name for pre-classical era music. super cool vid about her!
Wow! Well done! I had no idea I could become fascinated by this information. I sort of fell into this topic by accident. The info, pictures, vocabulary, pronunciation and delivery of info was superb! Thank you very much! I’m amazed.
I was lucky enough that my mum had a CD of HVB’s music which I listened to, repeatedly, as a kid. My fascination with her has only grown over time. What a marvelous video! Fantastic work and an immediate subscribe!
Kudos! Excellent summary-bio of one of the most brilliant women and mystics of all time, Hildegard von Bingen. Only wish you would have included some of her music! Well, well done!
I absolutely love your historical content. I sure hope you will gather more of a following soon. I especially like your further reading recommendations. For an even more academic approach, I personally would appreciate seeing sources on the lower bottom of the video. Not a must, of course, rarely anyone does this. But it would make it easier for an academic audience to check for accuracy. Thank you, I am subscribed now.
I'm glad you enjoy my videos! I have contemplated having direct "footnotes" in them, but ultimately I've decided to go the more encyclopedic route with the recommended readings kind of like you'd see reading the encyclopedia Britannica. A big part of that is just how much more time it would take and I figure that the majority of my TH-cam audience are approaching it more casually anyway, while I include recommendations for those who want to look into it deeper or have a more academic interest.
Yes it was! I didn't put more of her music in because a lot of it is copyrighted (seeing as they are performances with interpretive elements) but I highly encourage looking up her music online
Excellent video and well told. I hadn't come across your channel before today and it's an instant 'subscribe.' I have a question about one of the illustrations shown as I am wondering where that's from. It's at 8:40. Quite a striking image.
It's from a medieval copy of the Psychomachia (war of the soul) which was a poem by the late antique Christian author Prudentius. It's an allegorical story about a war between the virtues and vices (most of which are personified as women, in part due to the fact that most of the words for these virtues in Latin are feminine nouns, but it's also interesting to think of in terms of ideas about gender) I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Great introduction to the life of one amazing woman. 👏 Did you watch the movie made about Hildegard von Bingen? It's appropriately called "Visions," a German production by director Margarete von Trotta.
i know Hildegard von Blingin by her marvellous musical compositions as We did not start the fire, The house of the Rising Sun, Holding On for a Hero, Jolene, and many others. She has a divine voice, i concur
I'm not a believer, formally, but Hildegard is an interesting person. She was quite " progressive " for her time especially in a largely patriarchal milieu. Not an average person or nun.
Mystic, composer, writer, philosopher, healer, abbess, Doctor of the Church.
She's an impressive saint.
Kind of a Renaissance woman for her time.
Once again, I was not aware of any of this. A very impressive woman, especially in those times.

Yep, I'm familiar with her work. The thumbnail for this video was a bit of a reference to her channel
I actually thought that's what this video was about, until I clicked. 🫠
No, that's not how it's spelled... Hildegard von Blingin' is how they spell it. You got one word and the apostophe right 😂
@@christofferrasmussen6533 I read where some renunciates were actually declared " dead " because of their life choice. Was this true ?
Watching this as my baby Hildegard sleeps next to me 🥰 Fantastic summary of one of history's most inspirational women!
You’re doing some incredibly quality work, both with your scholarship and production, and you deserve way more views. Hyped to see more!
This means so much to me, thank you!
Hildegard’s Parsley wine recipe is a simple yet highly effective elixir
I feel this is probably the best place to wish everyone a happy international women's day!
this randomly got recommended to me by the algorithm and it was awesome!
A woman way ahead of her time, or even ours. St Hildegard, pray for us!
Congratulations on making a well balanced, fact informed video! It's always tricky with religious figures but you have managed to make it masterfully.
Dokładnie mam taką samą refleksję :) I agree wholeheartedly, bravo.

Her discussion of minerals is truly one of the most fascinating aspects of her already fascinating works!
Of course you were researching women in geology lol.
@@studiumhistoriae which of her books is this in?
@@TheAllyathome the Physica
@@studiumhistoriae nice. I do have this one. Thanks!
This was so fascinating. I had heard of her but still did now know much about her. Thank you for sharing this information.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

New Agers adopted her, or at least her music. I have some CDs of her compositions or at least music based on them.

Bravo! I've been searching long hours for a good video on Hildegard, and yours definitely takes the cake. Instant sub!
Brilliant and so fascinating. I only know about her music and then the theories that her visions were related migraine. Thank you so much.

Thank you for this look at Hildegard and her life, interesting from beginning to end!
Great video. I listen to St. Hildegard's music everyday during a rosary

Reminds me of the Oracle of Delphi! Brill' video homie, good onya Hildegaarde!
Thank you!!! What a great documented information.
Hi! Love your channel, thanks for such good work🎉
Omg new subscriber what a treasure trove of history for a history major like me 🤩😁
Welcome!
Fascinating, thank you! Is this the “Mother Hildegard” Diana Gabaldon based the character on in the Outlander series?
She may have named the character after her and been inspired by her, but Outlander takes place about 600 years after Hildegard of Bingen's time
Jgd, very well done, thank you! Sgd
Great introduction to the life of one amazing woman. 👏

I haven't seen it yet but I will at some point. Maybe I'll wind up talking about it on this channel at some point once I do
I mean no wonder, even Cid's wife in FFIX was named Hildegard & had both of his airships named after her lol
Omg, I did not expect to find FFIX mentioned on this video 🙌🏼
Thanks. . . .useful.
oh cmon, not even a single mention of her lingua ignota? that stuff is fascinating! anyway, very nice vid, wish you luck in growing your channel
Muy interesante historia de esta figura y muy especial alma. Gracias por su trabajo.
I wonder if you can find her in CK3

I really don't like the Cathars
An unpleasant heresy
The entire concept of anchorites is insane and very abusive.
