    I love a man who takes the time to trace the signal chain! Even though I've been doing it for years sometimes I just need someone to walk it through!

    I wish I would've found your channel a long time ago. I had the ui24r but sold everything... determined not to play drums and run sound anymore haha. A couple weeks later I got a call to run sound for a small acoustic show. I found a cheap ui16. I think the guy tried ripping me off cause it wasn't working when i got home. I did a reset and it was good as new. Anyway, I've been missing the additional aux channels from the ui24r. this tip gets me back in the game.

      The extra channels are needed. I've been using a Mackie DL32S lately which give me 32 channels.

    When I use the additional AUX OUTS I found I had to use separate TRS cables for each channel going into In ear monitors. If I used a guitar cable to TRS I had noise and polarity issues. So I use a TRS to XLR coming out of the head phones A and B into each IEM unit. Also I don't think the two additional inputs are a good idea for the same reason but that is only my opinion as I have never tried it. Great video.

      I use the cable I showed, which is TRS to dual XLR. I connect to my powered wedges with XLR (mic) cables.

    Bob, Thanks so much for the info. On adding those extra aux's, I am guessing those headphone outs are amplified. Would this cause a problem if you are feeding another source?

    • @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer
      @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have them selected as "aux" in the settings, the output is line level like the other aux outs.

  • @douglasallen534
    @douglasallen534 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's important to note the 2 added outs are not "Balanced Outs" but "Unbalanced Out". You would not want to run these down a long run. 20 feet or so may be ok. Also, if you go from this to an amp the channel that used Pin 3 as Positive it would feed an amp that way but polarity reversed if the same signal is going out the 2 Auxes. If this Pin 3 out was feeding a speaker and the send with Pin 2 was feeding another and if the 2 speakers were close by you may get some phase issues if the same signal is coming out of both outputs.

      @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good points, thanks. I connect them to two Alto 10" powered wedges using regular 25' mic cables. Maybe I lucked out, but they work fine.

    • @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer
      @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ronbrowne3491 you would have no way to set the gain with a passive direct box. There are no gain controls for the line inputs on the UI.

    Thanks

    • @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer
      @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe you could. It has two inputs and two line outputs. It would also act as a two channel interface with a DAW.

    Good video. Thanks! I want to send the headphone stereo aux out over an analog snake. So special cable from the headphone out TO some XLR F to 1/4 adapters TO a stereo DI box to convert to a balanced signal. Do you think this would work? Seem's like a lot of extra stuff but in my mind it should work.

      @@djbassick You could use the same cable as in my video. You might need turn around adapters depending on how you are going into the snake. You could get two mono outputs or a single stereo output this way.

      I’m trying to add the extra aux sends. I’m good with the global settings part but I’m curious about the headphone outs. Do you have to use a TRS splitter? What becomes of the other headphone out? I think the whole stereo/mono thing has me confused.

    • @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer
      @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@chucksaeger7500 Yes you need a TRS to dual XLR, assuming what you are feeding with the Auxes uses XLR inputs. The tip is AUX 5 and the ring is AUX 6 or vice versa. Both headphone outs on the UI are the same so take your pick. It's not that one is aux 5 and the other aux 6. You will only use one of the headphone outs. You can do two mono aux sends, or one stereo aux send. To do stereo, you would need a TRS to single XLR, and you would need to link aux 5 and aux 6 together in the UI.

    • @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer
      @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct, as far as i Know. If you had a headphone amp you could use the jack, but you would be hearing the Aux5 mix in one ear and the Aux6 mix in the other.

      I assume you want to add two more mic channels to the mixer. This unit will do that. You would set the Duo to direct stereo mode. This unit is designed mainly as a USB interface with a DAW, but it could be used to add channels to the UI.
