How did you record separately on the UI16 to do this post mixing?
The individual tracks were recorded at a gig with a Presonus StudioLive mixer. I fed them from Pro Tools into my UI16, and then recorded the output from the UI16 back into Pro Tools.
Excellent 👍🎶
Thanks Greggie!
Forgot to name your set. The rest is topnotch!
Do the monitors need to be powered, or can you use passive speakers?
Either. With powered speakers you go from the UI directly to the wedge. With passive speakers you go from the UI to the power amp running the wedge.
@@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer Thanks
Hello, how much have you set your aux speaker volume ?
I set the Aux masters on the UI to unity gain. I adjust the volume on the wedge to suit the performer. On my cheap Alto wedges, that's usually about half way on the knob on the back of the wedge. It would vary depending on the wedge.
Switching from my Orange CR120 to the Fender Deluve TM. So excited
Hope you like it, Thanks for watching.
Hi! I have the Orange CR60, and I'm thinking the same thing , though I love the tones on my Orange I think it might be a nice upgrade, did you get the TM?
My guess is that all the auxes were assigned to a common DCA, and if that DCA was either muted or turned all the way down that would explain why you had level on all the aux mix masters, but no audio coming out of the XLR outputs.
That would do it, but I don't think that was the case. There were certainly no aux masters assigned to DCAs in the show I called up. We had another tech look at it as well. I think most likely it was the beer bath it took on the previous gig.
@@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer do the aux outputs work now?
@@dankurydotcom Neither we, nor the repair tech we went to could get them to work. We sold it it and bought a new one. This one lives in a road case, and is kept away from wayward beer bottles. I don't know if it ever worked again. It was an "as is" sale with full disclosure.
@@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer thanks for getting back :)
Very well done! Glad to see you have paper as a backup; dated but effective!
Thanks! Often paper is easier to deal with than tables, tablet holders, power supplies, etc.
interesting, wit the Tele I preferred Amp1 (TM) as amp 2 sounded flatter, for all the others I picked the DR as it just had more sparkle, more life. So I score 1 for the TM and 3 for the DR... in isolation, without the comparison, I would likely just want to add a little top end to the TM, and wouldn't know. Great comparison, how was it in the room? More or less obvious?
Thanks! In the room the most noticeable thing was that the DR could get louder than the TM, even at the 100w setting on the TM. Tube watts are somehow different. The TM is also more compressed, which is good or bad depending on your taste. I did prefer the nice digital reverb on the TM over the spring reverb in my DR, again a personal taste thing.
@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer that's useful information. I generally just grab a Pro Junior IV for gigs (Chicago Blues in the main), and seldom get it above 4 or 5 on the volume, so use a Nobels ODR-1 to give a little hair when the guitar vol is full. I'd been thinking about a Princeton as likely similar vol to the Pro Junior, but the TM DR with the attenuator is very interesting for my needs... Given the choice, would you go... Princeton Reverb Deluxe Reverb with attenuator Or TM DR? Guessing very little difference in feel when playing, be interested to know which you would purchase.
@@joncurle5407 At my age (73) I'd be using the TM Deluxe. I've been running sound for a band where the guitarist uses a TM Twin. He's running it on the 12w setting and it sounds as good as the vintage Deluxe he used before. At least it does out front. I most likely would go for the blond TM Deluxe. My last guitar gigs were back in 2021 and I used a 65Amps London Pro head for the rock band, and a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia head for the country gig. I used a small 1x12 cab with both. If I were carrying stuff every weekend, it likely would be the TM Deluxe. That entire amp likely weighs less than the Carmen Ghia head alone. I know that Uncle Larry says, "Good tone is heavy and hard to carry." but at my age some compromises are necessary.
@@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer thanks, I really appreciate your thoughts
When I disable the hotspot and wifi I can't connect to the Lan. However when I enable the hotspot back on then connect through the Lan I can connect and I'm assuming the flashing strobing yellow light means I on the Lan connection.
If you can't connect without the hotspot enabled, your network settings aren't correct. Check your IP addresses on the UI, router, and tablet.
I just purchased a UI 24 and the lan isn't working.
Most likely the network settings aren't correct. Check the IP addresses on the UI, router, and tablet.
@@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer thanks. I'm going to power cycle to try to get the HDMI out to work whenever I get off work today. And I got the wireless to work on my laptop and phone and will try the lan again. If I get the HDMI to work I'll be happy enough.
@@mandelharvey3429 As far as I know, the HDMI output on the 12 and 16 were never activated, only on the 24. It is strictly for decoration. I could be wrong as I've never tried it. Does anybody out there know?
hope youre doing well
I am. Hope you are as well. Thanks

I wish I would've found your channel a long time ago. I had the ui24r but sold everything... determined not to play drums and run sound anymore haha. A couple weeks later I got a call to run sound for a small acoustic show. I found a cheap ui16. I think the guy tried ripping me off cause it wasn't working when i got home. I did a reset and it was good as new. Anyway, I've been missing the additional aux channels from the ui24r. this tip gets me back in the game.
The extra channels are needed. I've been using a Mackie DL32S lately which give me 32 channels.
Mackie mixer?
Yep. DL32S
Great information. I have always preferred In-Ear monitoring due to the excessive stage noise that monitors introduce - especially if the stage walls are not acoustically treated. Am I wrong?
In ears make it way easier for me. No wedge feedback to worry about and the guys do their own mix.
@@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer Exactly!
Vale state is a Marshall
AH! You are correct. I forget the name of the Vox thingy.
Im a working musician every weekend and i use a tonemaster deluxe reverb or flyrig direct, This is the best bang for buck sounding amp ive ever used and light too😁👍😊
The guitarist in the band I work for uses a TM Twin. Now that he is using in-ears, he sets it for 12w. That super helps the out front mix, and it sounds excellent.
Thanks great advice
Thanks for watching.
Hello, nice playing and review! Could you tell if the pickups are screwed to the body or to the Pick guard? Thank you in advance.
I'll have to have a look. I suspect it is the pick guard, but I'm not sure.
it's close but a wee bit compressed sounding over the real thing. Pretty nice though.
Definitely more compressed than the DR.
I’m curious if you use compression on your vocals. If so, do you use compression on individual channels, as a subgroup or some other way? Thanks
just on the individual channels.
Thanks. I am going considering adding some and will follow your lead.
When it comes to 3 on 3 headstocks the most important question is which one stayed in tune. Unless of course you just sit at home and noodle. If you’re a gigging musician then tuning stability is the first and most important requirement.
I've used both on stage without tuning issues. I do prefer the smoother modern machines on the PRS.
@@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer I've played an Epiphone Les Paul for years as a rhythm guitarist without issue. The minutes i became a lead player doing loads of bluesy bends it became a huge problem. Eventually switched to the Silver Sky.
I love he TM deluxe. Finally found a perfect go to amp. Best clean, low gain sounds and pedals work well. I love playing in straight. Usually I’m a pedal guy but this I can noodle all day.
Great story and advice
Thanks for watching.
I had virtually the same thing happen with my Mackie DL32S. I took to have it serviced and they never could find the problem. I bought and keep the 16 channel version with us at all times but luckily haven’t needed it!
We never did figure it out. Sold the unit and bought a new one.
Hello sir I just brought ui12 and I want to use aux out as a in ear monitor and I also brought behringer pm1 but aux out signal goes to only left headphone not right side I checked everywhere to not doing pan left side and I didn't but when I checked master output it's hear left and right If you have any solution please let me know Thank you for advance
I took a brief look at this PM1. This is a passive unit expecting a stereo output from a headphone amp. The Aux outs on the UI are line level, not amplified. I'm surprised you hear anything at all. What you need to come directly out of the UI Auxes is the Behringer P1 or P2. The P1 will let you run stereo or mono with regular xlr cables. Also, if you want stereo in your phones, you will have to link two Auxes together in the UI for that. The P2 will run mono with a regular xlr, but you would need a special cable to run stereo. Check them out on the Behringer website. Hope this helps.
@@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer thank you for the reply
This is well done - thanks! I'm just learning how to use a Ui16 and I'm pretty happy with how user friendly it is. The only thing that I think is kind of missing from your video insofar as setting things up is making certain you set the gain. I didn't know you could customize your display to get rid of channels you don't use - that's awesome! Thanks for the tip!
Thanks! Good suggestion on a setting gains video.
Where do you set the volume on the xlr out dial? Great tone!
Mine is set around 1PM or so. Thanks.
That looks good! I’m an Apple guy and I’ve never had any trouble with them but if the rest of the guys have other kinds, that’s ok, too. Thanks for all you do!
Thanks Chuck!
this tutorial is exactly how my UI24 works. I too wish you could lock out the other auxes. I will give the iPhone to the band member and say mix your AUX1 to your hearts content and give them no other options.
The Presonus mixers are the only ones I've seen that allow the auxes to be completely locked down. My experience with those is very limited, though.
My 3year old 4 bolt Mexican Strat was so disappointing..bad cut nut and high E too close to edge, still not right
Sorry to hear that. Everyone seems much happier with the Japanese Fenders.
U need to think and remove this video.
Awesome Bob! Very true! Low cost systems will get the job done in most clubs etc👍🎶

This is a helpful video but for people in an emergency the explanation of the solution starts at 5:32 into the video.

Ha! I have an almost white DIY Strat.
No
I agree 100%! Well done Bob!
Thanks!
Looks like a G&L. Solid guitars. So why not? Depending on what you already have. But G&Ls pickups are pretty unique.
I got it in a trade. I now have two ASAT Specials.
Great video!
Thanks!
Tone and hernia are insuperable in mho. But the Tone Master sounds good.
Good tone is heavy and hard to carry, according to Uncle Larry. He's the master.
Buy it! You can’t have too many guitars!
So true. I got it in a trade.
@@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer It looks like a G&L? How does it sound?

I got it in a trade, instead.
I'm wondering if Soundcraft is aware about this very big issue...?
They are. This unit is no longer a priority. I would be surprised if there are any more updates for the UI12/16.
Hi Bob, thanks so much for this video: I've just had this very bad experience yesterday night. My Ipad did not want to connect and so I've finally used my Iphone to get the mixer acccessible. I have to say that this mixer is great because it's not heavy, pretty small and have a lot of routing and FX options but what a shame being dependent of this f*** wifi connection !
Using an external router has solved all my connection issues.
Hey Bob, which one stays in tune longer? Thanks for the demo!
I've had no problems with either, however, I much prefer the tuning machines on the PRS over the vintage style on the Jr.
I loved both the sound and look of this PRS and it would be my choice.
I decided to keep them both.
There needs to be more live demos of amps. Amps change when you get them to gig volumes. I've played a Twin Reverb TM at at music store and loved it but it really matters to me how it responds live. Thanks...
Agreed
For a good 3 minutes i forgot about the amp shootout and marveled at your playing. BRAVO! Ijust bought the Acoustic A40 for the reasons you mentioned but additionallynfornthe bluetooth capability. I can find nice blegrass backing tracks on TH-cam and bluetooth them to the A40. Or make my own and do the same forna 1 man band senario. I too wish the effects went through the direct out to the board. Very lightweight amp and easy to carry with guitar in the other hand.
Thanks! I hope it works out well for you.
