- Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Jenny Liu shares her favorite swaps for popular more expensive skincare finds. Skincare is so personal, and aside from finding products that work, budget is definitely a major concern. I love these expensive items but also understand not everyone is able to afford. I don't 'believe in dupes, but these alternatives are very similar in formulation and texture. I hope you find this hopeful.

Looking forward to trying the Prequel. Thanks for the recommendation! 👍
Timeless is my holy grail vitamin C. I am surprised this one wasn’t mentioned. A great alternative!
I haven’t tried that one but also not a fan of brands that claim to be dupe I want see those studies…
@@dr.jennyliu Gottcha. Totally understand 💕
I 100% agree! My favorite for years!
A k-beauty alternative video might be interesting for some of the pricier brands like Sulwhasoo (their first serum), Donginbi (gingseng), AmorePacific, History of Whoo, Cho Gong Jin, etc. I've seen a recent video suggesting the One Thing galactomyces ferment filtrate that's been compared to the SK-II (but a lot of galactomyces essences have been). Though the drawback from some might be that they have large containers like 10 ounce or 5.5. ounce.
Thank you for these recommendations. Very helpful!!
Thank you for this video!! Some very good recommendations to save us money!!
Thank you so much for your thorough explanations and adherence to science in all your videos!
Thanks, very helpful! I plan to try some of these!
Great, helpful video!
Hi Jenny, I love your videos and your skin is beautiful! 😍 Would love more videos like this with budget friendly alternatives for toners/essences, physical exfoliants, barrier repair creams, eye creams and active body creams/lotions. Love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
Thank you for such a wonderful video. Is Alastin Serum similar to products that are DNA repair serums? Do they do the same thing?
I love Prequel
Love the video, super helpful! Please could you make the font size on the text sections larger next time ❤
Curious if you have tried the Cosrx vitamin C? I think it is 23% so it is potent but I have heard it isn’t irritating. I have tried Skinceuticals and LOVED it. Quick results but too expensive to use on a regular basis.
Would you please review the brands Timeless and Maelove. Especially their vitamin C serums. Thank you I really appreciate your expertise!
My favorite
BOJ sunscreen has been my holy grail sunscreen. And it is affordable.
morning dr.jenny. when it comes to topical sulfur, us there a risk with acne bacteria becoming resistant to it ? can sulfir be used long term indefinitely?
I’m going to watch this video later, but to let you know, I like your videos very much.
Could you please recommend products for sensitive dry skin for under eye sunscreen and also a lip balm for aging skin
I've seen another recommend the Maelove vit c as a similar product to the Skinceuticals and another skincare channel who suggested the drmtlgy l.a. refining serum to the Sunday Riley (a difference of about $23).
Ive never tried that brand but yes I’ve seen others liking it
Hi I am wondering if you have any korean skincare suggestions in lieu of Skinceuticals. Lately I have been thinking of buying from yesstyle/OliveYoung. I do like the Ordinary and that one Sunday Riley did seem to agree with my skin. Lovely video, thank youuu
I’d be happy to do a review the problem is many Asian vitamin C serums don’t use pure vitamin C, and also very high concentration that may not necessarily be better
What are your thoughts on the skincare brand Osea? Is clean beauty a waste of money ? Thanks
Interesting subs. I have not tried the Olay Regenerist moisturizer, however, everything else I have tried from the brand has severely irritated my skin. I wonder if that means the Alastin would have the same effect. Obviously not worth the money to find out.
Speaking of vit c, have you checked out the Paula's Choice 25% vit c (THD) + glutathione product?
Yes, I like that line in general
Could you create a video focused on affordable vitamin C serum? Vitamin C is the only thing missing from my skincare routine at the moment, and the options you've recommended are either too expensive or not available here in India.
I’ve tried SkinCeuticals one and I find it to be quite irritating and the fact that it’s not packed in airtight container bothers me so much. And I don’t know why nobody ever talks about this but SkinCeuticals leaves brown stains on my face and they last all day, I’m an Asian with a warm undertone and this is another major turn-off for me. Prequel has similar ingredients but it doesn’t irritate my skin and it doesn’t leave brown stains all over my face, been using it for three months and it does wonders for my skin!
Can you use prescription azelic acid 15% with copper peptides ?? Will they cancel out each other?
PS: i have quite resistant skin.
Don’t think so, so yes you can
The Ordinary's peptide serum has Matrixyl in it. Any thoughts on how effective it is? I've been using it for a few weeks, and feel it's making a difference.
It is the most effective peptide for aging according to studies
is it the original 'Buffet' one?
@@dr.jennyliu Yay! Thank you!
@@rosedolch8637 It's the new formulation of "The Buffet". It's just called "Multi-Peptide + HA Serum". It also has Agireline in it, which has been dubbed "Botox in a Bottle".
What brand is better CeraVe or Osea ? Thanks
Skinceuticals oxidizes quickly and it’s a ripoff imho. Speaking from personal experience, there are far too many cheaper yet works just as good. My holy grail is 20% Timeless. Gotten awesome results for a steal of a price.
Same as mine! They just have a smart marketing strategy but you can find better ingredients from another brand
Your Show is so good, but could you please provide some products for Europe, would be very helpful. 👍
I agree ☺️ would be very helpful
She’s based in the US so that isn’t really going to be simple.
I will try
@@dr.jennyliu thank you Dr. Liu. I appreciate your knowledge so much 🙏🏼
There are European dermatologists or doctors who focus on skincare like Doctor Anne in Germany.
Now if I could only find a cheaper alternative to the Tatcha dewy cream I’d be set 😂❤
Patent for the vitamin c is expiring 2025.
I think you should speak more slowly. Take your time
Vitamin C, E and Ferulic acid are not expensive ingredients. The only thing that makes that so expensive is GREED by Skinceutical . I’m glad there are good alternatives out there, so sick of greedy cosmetic companies treating consumers like idiots who will buy any over priced products with fancy advertising
So True!! And the fact that it is in a dropper bottle and not an airless pump, I don’t trust the efficacy.
