      As for the hyperpigmentations around your mouth, I'm not sure what you can use to lighten them. As for your dark spots from acne, look into a mild retinol (like the one from Good Molecules) or an AHA exfoliant.

    Can i use glycolic acid and niacinamide acide then salicylic acid and if i can use it all together in which order should i use them (all products from the ordinary) or glycolic acid with the peeling solution?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, AHA stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acids, and under this category, you can find Glycolic, Lactic, and Mandelic Acid, among others that aren't as popular.
      BHA refers to Salicylic Acid. Therefore, you should not use AHA and BHA with these products, as they are essentially the same.
      You should also avoid using multiple exfoliating acids in the same routine. The reason is that you expose the skin to too much of the acids, which can lead to irritation over time. The best approach would be to use just one of them, or alternate days (ideally in the evening).
      However, if you use the peeling solution once or twice a week, then there's generally no need for the other acid products you have!

      After cleansing (AM and PM), it's fine to use the serum on its own. How often you can use it during the week and throughout the day depends on your personal needs and tolerance. If you have drier skin, it's also perfectly fine to use a moisturizer afterwards.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PredatorGaming-dt8nc Well, you can do that, but generally, 10% niacinamide is not that strong. It's mainly about using just a small amount of 3-5 drops for the face and neck. Irritation usually happens because people use an entire dropper or mix it with other potent serums. This then leads to irritation and sensitivities.

      I'm not sure. I've had it since I was a teenager. However, it isn't as noticeable when I have a bit of a tan. That's why it's much more visible now, because I'm quite pale. I just know that when I use products like exfoliating acids too often (because of the demonstrations I do), or when the weather changes dramatically, or maybe even depending on what I eat, it becomes more noticeable.

      3. Use them in the same routine - but make sure to adjust the frequency of use.

    I need help…
    Is it possible to wash face with SA Cleanser from Cerave and then use “Niacinamide” after “Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Salicylic Liquid Exfoliant” and end off with Moisturiser + Sun Screen for the AM part?
    As for PM part I use SA Cleanser from Cerave and after can I use “Niacinamide” with “The Ordinary 0.5 Retinol Squalane” ? If so do I use it before or after applying Retinol? And of course end off with Moisturiser.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's possible, but I doubt your skin will tolerate that combination if used continuously for several days or even weeks. Instead, I would recommend opting for a milder gel-to-foam cleanser, such as the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser or Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser.
      Also, consider alternating the use of retinol and Paula's Choice BHA in your evening skincare routine to avoid overwhelming your skin. While you can still use the SA cleanser occasionally, it's not ideal to use it regularly with your other products due to its drying formulation.
      AM Routine:
      Cleanse your face.
      Pat dry.
      Apply niacinamide.
      Apply moisturizer (if there's no sun exposure).
      Apply sunscreen (if exposed to the sun).
      PM Routine:
      Cleanse your face.
      Pat dry.
      Apply BHA or retinol (alternate days).
      Optionally follow with a moisturizer. (Note: I find it works best when used alone, but it's worth testing both ways to see what suits your skin best.)

      Generally, you should rinse off the product immediately. It is possible that you may be allergic to the product or that the strength may be too high for your skin to tolerate. In such a case, you could dilute it or, if the burning sensation continues, it may be best not to use the product anymore. Alternatively, you could ask a doctor for more advice.

      The question is really whether you need it. What are you trying to achieve? Also, the percentage may be a bit too high. I would recommend looking into something like this: th-cam.com/video/r3NpUF6D6Vw/w-d-xo.html . As for moisturizer, you don't really need anything special. It's more important to focus on a good sunscreen. If you have prolonged sun exposure, you could wear it to help keep your skin young. For example, consider using Good Molecules Mineral SPF 30.
      So, a routine could look like this:
      Morning:
      Clean face with Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser
      Pat dry
      Apply sunscreen if you have sun exposure; otherwise, just leave it as it is.
      Evening:
      Clean face with Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser
      Pat dry
      Apply Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum

    Sunscreen
    PM: (this is what I need help on the most)
    cerave foaming facial cleanser
    Salicylic acid serum (I don't know if I should use a cleanser or a serum, what do you recommend)
    Niacinamide serum
    (I learned this from one of your videos and don't know if this is enough for me)
    I haven't used any of it before so if u could tell me how to start I would be very grateful
    and just to give u more info if u help, I currently have random breakouts of whiteheads, I think a little uneven skin color and uneven skin texture, I am not completely sure if I have blackheads or if they aren't, I have shaving bumps too because I shave my facial hair every day.
    And one last thing under my eyes seem very dull and aren't the same tone as my skin making me look like I never sleep so if u have any recommendations on that too then thank you.
    I apologize for the very long message, I have been a fan for 3 years now, and you are honestly the only person I trust with skin care advice. So getting some from you, I feel like it would help very much. 😊

      Hey! :)
      Have you ever commented under my videos? If yes, I couldn't find any of your previous comments to get more information on what we have already talked about - so I'm sorry if I'm asking again...
      What's your skin type?
      Overall, the setup of your AM and PM routine looks good. You can choose an SA serum and then leave it on the skin or rinse it off after 15 minutes or so...kind of like a mask. This way, you can use a non-exfoliating acid cleanser in the AM and PM. If you have oily skin, I recommend choosing an HA serum; if your skin is more on the dry side, you may enjoy a gel or gel-cream-like moisturizer.
      How often you can use Niacinamide and SA depends on your skin tolerance, so you have to test it. Still, in the beginning, I would use Niacinamide in the AM and SA in the PM. If your skin tolerates it well, you can also choose to use them together.
      As for blackheads and whiteheads, you may also want to extract them with an extraction tool.
      For your shaving bumps, I recommend switching to a hair trimmer/electric razor instead. Like the ones you use to shave your head hair. This is what works the best for my husband.
      Are you referring to dark circles under the eyes or what exactly is your concern?

      @@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thank you for replying, yes I have commented on a past video but it is okay. I appreciate you answering now.
      My skin type is oily so I will use the HA serum. Thank you for sharing the advice on the SA serum. Do you think getting all my products from the ordinary would be fine or are there better alternatives?
      Also would the extraction tools not cause scarring? I remember using this metal white head extraction tool that had a small circle that you would press against the skin to remove it but it was painful and left some scars. So would the products help get rid of them on their own?
      I already use an electric shaver but are you referring to the ones that rotate? If so could you also share with me the one your husband uses? Do you think I should also opt for an after shave or will the products in my routine be enough to help.
      Yes, I am referring to dark circles. I have had them for years but I am hoping they are not genetic. If you know of any products or things to use to help fix it, I would appreciate it.

      @@discountanimation5952 Oh, okay! I'm sorry, but I can't seem to find our previous conversations... TH-cam sucks a bit at that.
      The Ordinary offers great products, like their Glucoside Foaming Cleanser. Salicylic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, and NMF + Beta Glucan are all excellent products! :)
      Well, the type of extraction tool you use matters a lot. I use one similar to this (it's not the exact one, but the shape is the same): www.amazon.com/Teenitor-Extractor-Treatment-Surgical-Blackhead/dp/B093RJ6R4V/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2Y9NVVQAAN7TZ&keywords=extraction+tool&qid=1701777753&sprefix=extraction+too%2Caps%2C280&sr=8-7
      I haven't experienced any scarring. I mean, I extract my pimples/little dark spots when they are ready. After that, the skin is a bit red, but this calms down pretty fast. If it's a bigger pimple, of course, it needs longer to heal. However, in my opinion, the body tries to clean itself, so when a pimple is ready, I extract the pus and leave it alone. It also depends on the type of pimples. Like I wouldn't use that tool if they are deep under the skin and you can't see a head on the surface. Also, make sure to clean the tool after every use.
      Instead of Salicylic Acid, you could look into Benzoyl Peroxide and follow a routine like this: th-cam.com/video/zq9w8rd8rd8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2Aap4SOXi3Upmj0m
      Okay, no, he does not use one that rotates; it's without the thin blades. Something like this: www.amazon.com/Philips-Hairclipper-7000-HC7650-14/dp/B081SGS655/ref=sr_1_15?crid=FDBGHGNXCRKW&keywords=philips+hair+trimmer&qid=1701778151&sprefix=philips+ha%2Caps%2C264&sr=8-15. He uses the shortest length, and that works really well for him. He used to have a lot of razor bumps and irritations from regular shavers like the one with 3 blades or so. But he doesn't have that issue anymore.
      Well, you may have luck with an eye serum or cream that contains brightening ingredients like Niacinamide, Vitamin C, etc. However, if it's genetic, there isn't much you can do. However, if it is caused by stress, lack of sleep, an allergy, etc., I recommend improving that so that your dark circles will improve.

      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thank you very much for the advice and sharing of products. Just so you know the old video i commented on was "How To Use Salicylic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid,
      Niacinamide And Retinol (Normal to Oily
      Skin Mild Acne)".
      I was wondering because you shared new products that i never heard of before, could you possibly make me a routine. If you have a video with all the products in a routine then please send a link and I can watch that. Whatever is easier for you.
      I'm thinking of starting to use a under eye cream/serum too so if u have any recommendations as well as how to add it in the routine that will help. Again if you have a video speaking about all this then that is great and I would love to watch it. 😊

      Just add Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide in your AM routine (after cleansing - before moisturizer/SPF). See here: th-cam.com/video/b09k0EhbifE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=q_olEGP7Hx2wXmqE
      Hm...The Ordinary, Beauty of Joseon, etc have eye serums...but it really depends on the cause of your dark circles.

    I wanted to ask is it really necessary to use sunscreen or it is okay to leave it with moisturizer not applying sunscreen after using niacinamide can cause dullness in face?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, it is still important to use sunscreen during daytime when using Niacinamide serum.
      Sunscreen helps to protect your skin from harmful UV rays that can cause premature aging, dark spots, and even skin cancer.

    • @Pixeliarmus

      you should use sunscreen regardless of using niacinamide or anything else. Actually only moisturizer and sunscreen everyday is more than enough to have great skin for years. I use tretinoin and niacinamide a few times a week and susncreen+moisturizer everyday. My skin looks better than ever

      @@Pixeliarmusthe more simple your skin care routine, the better. People use shit ton of actives and then complain why they have bad skin, a simple non stripping face wash, an active of your choice and a moisturiser + sunscreen is the best. More actives don’t mean better skin

    How to dilute niacinamide

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can mix 1-2 drops of Niacinamide with your hydrating serum, essence or moisturizer in the palm of your hands and then apply it to the skin :)
