Just a quick episode on the future of the channel and how I'm feeling about life in general as I try to keep my motivation to keep the channel operation.

Mate, on the scale of importance , TH-cam rates way down the list. Family and life came before it and will go on after it. The pleasure has all been ours, the viewers, the supporters. So sorry about your mum, glad she has come out ok. I lost my mum to a stroke. I am sure your mum appreciates your help. May the your tube channel goes further. I glad to have found someone that shows our backyard.😊

But for me it’s a blessing after living in QLD for 26 years I can get to spend some time with her. She is improving, but she doesn’t see it.

Litterally just found your channel yesterday. The Pebbly Beach campground episode, looking for my next adventure with the MUX I've waited a year for and will be picking up on Friday. I love your content and will be sure to be binging on your channel in the next few weeks.
One thing that stands out about you that I've noticed and is rare on many channels, is your outstanding effort to genuinely respond to your comments. That alone shows the kind of guy you are and deserves my subscription.

You should be happy with the MUX, more than capable. Just seen one take on a massive rock step on the way to Mt Gibbo which I avoided 15 mins earlier. 🤦🏽

Still trying to find the happy medium with the channel. I’m loving posting monthly but the channel has taken a hit from it, not progressing like it was when it was fortnightly.
But it’s more about my time at the moment.

I don't generally comment on TH-cam much but you have made some great content of the high country and the snowys and have inspired many with it including me I can appreciate the time and effort that goes in to producing youtube videos but burnout is real and when you hit the wall you need to look after yourself and your loved ones. Glad to hear you haven't given up on youtube all together look forward to seeing some more from you when ever that may be your content is as good as it has always been

It’s people like yourself that I make these episodes, to try encourage people to get out and see places, it’s not all about lifting wheels and hitting bog holes, there is so much to see out there.

Definitely don’t think your vid’s are all the same or boring mate, your editing and the layout/ order of your trip vids is top notch and if the location and time change on each trip that’s all you need to change mate! Add to that some troopy walkthroughs, mods, new gear parts reviews etc, full support on my end pal!

Hey mate, totally understand how you feel and full credit to you for recognising this and doing something about it. Your right about the editing part even though i enjoy that too its just so time consuming. Working full time and running all the associated social media that goes with TH-cam is crazy. Ive actually taken my foot off the throttle a bit too before i just fully snapped it and gave up. I pretty sure everyone here will be sticking around for the monthly episodes mate. Thanks Sheppy. You owe it to them after what they have done for us all our lives, I didn’t hesitate to come back to my old hometown. I do have some regrets being so far from my kids, but they are grown up.
A lot of work does go into YT, but it’s a decision I made and I want to stick with it, which means videos might not be a regular as I want some times. I was going through a hard time when I filmed this, but have slowly come out the other side.

Hey mate don’t stress it. I’m in exactly the same boat and decided to do an Ep when I do one. Might be 1 month, might be 6 months, the 2 week episodes nearly killed me and took the fun out of it. Hey James, it’s was more me letting myself down as I wasn’t able to keep the channel going the way I wanted it to, then the roll on effect was that you guys wouldn’t get the content. I wasn’t willing to just drop content for the sack of it. So I had to step back.
I felt the weight off my shoulders as soon as this had episode dropped. I’ll just make the most of it until it fires up again I guess ! 🤦🏽🤣

gidday m8, family 1st, love your shows, my wife had an anurisim, flown from tgon to melb its along hard road back for all concerned best thing i learnt was talked your m8s n family dont bottle it up iv still got a 4b & dont do to much camping anymore, every single day she improves its been 20 years , & shows like yours keep me sane good luck with your endeavours, & great show
@@williamgriffith5756 sorry to hear about your wife, but I’m glad to hear she’s improving. It’s definitely a long slow road, I feel for mum as she was such an independent lady, and now she relies on everyone else, and she should be traveling the world but instead she’s stuck at home.
But at the same time we see the improvement but she never will. Class 4, air ambulance to Bairnsdale to Melbourne, the specialist said she wouldn’t survive, let alone walk or talk again.
The specialist say she is a miracle. She is one tough lady -and she’s still busting my balls.
Glad you get some enjoyment out of the videos. You might have to venture out in the 4B one day.

With you all the way mate, your time is yours and you don't get time back. I'm not into 4wds (I ride adventure bikes, currently a KTM 890 Adventure) and I don't watch or subscribe to any other 4WD channels. But I've been watching your channel for quite a while because you're a knockabout bloke with no BS sharing what he likes to do, and I like that. I think people understand the pressures and limits of time, don't worry about pulling back. RE: varied content - perhaps you could turn the aging Troopy's occasional foibles to your advantage - if it's off the road and you're working on it, you could put the camera on a tripod and let the camera run. Doesn't have to be a 'how-to' or showing off mechanical knowledge, but lots of blokes like seeing others having a go at repairs/ mods themselves and the Troopy is an interesting vehicle. If you don't like the footage that emerges, it doesn't have to go on TH-cam and you haven't lost anything. Anyway, that's just a thought. I hope things go well for you and your family and look forward to supporting your channel in the future. Happy Xmas, love the stuff you do mate.

I’ve thought about doing the cameras while working on the troopy, I should have done it now as I’m doing a bit to to the old girl as we speak. I’ll definitely do a run through of the new accessories etc that I’ve purchased and fitted. I’m not a big fan of talking into cameras, I like talking shit into cameras though 🤦🏽🤣

Do what your gut is telling you mate, what feels right. Even if it is longer between uploads dont stress about it we will still be here!
We have almost the same amount of subs. The smaller channel like us like you said know that it is a struggle at times i do for a couple of reasons and i have been 4wd and camping my whole life. You Tube gives my family and friends something to look back on for years to come.

That’s by I’m stepping back, I’ve always said when I was comfortable with the channel I’d upload less. Try up the content quality. But time wasn’t on my side, and that was taking me away from family and friends, so it had to happen.
It’s definitely hard on us smaller channels Rich. I only really watch channels that are under 5000 subs these days to show my support… well apart from my favourite channels like Chris Bamman etc. cause they haven’t changed their ways, still genuine to where they started.

Well done mate for being honest and upfront, not many of us have the time to do everything we want and need so you have to prioritise. @@aguyandhistroopy Yeah I've been flat out at work and getting a car ready for summernats that will include a few big vids on the history and rebuild of that. poor old midget did a gearbox three weeks ago so I need to get that sorted out soon. I love making vids but just lack the time recently. Hope to catch up at some point down the track for sure though.

Good on you for being honest about your situation. Been loving your content, but 100% that family and other priorities come first. It's pretty obvious sometimes that content creators on here feel obligated to upload consistently, and to keep that up with a normal life would be incredibly difficult. That’s it, you lose touch with normal life trying to meet deadlines, which shouldn’t be deadlines as it’s not our fulltime job, just a hobbie pretty much.
It was getting the better of me that’s for sure. Now just focusing on catching back up with my life a bit, even if it is just renovating, working on the troopy etc.

Please don't feel beholden to your viewers Gav, in fact they it is us that should feel thankful to you for the effort you've put in and the enjoyment we took out. It's these type of videos that I for one enjoy the most, not the big name, big dollar efforts. Yours is a far more attainable sort of escape for most of us and the simple things are much more relatable.
I'll still be watching whatever you put out whenever you manage it and I'll be happy with it.

You've shown me my own backyard and there are plenty of places I want to check out when I can make the time. You are not the only content creator I have watched that has felt the strain of the you tube algorithm and the sheer hard work putting videos together, so don't feel you are letting us down by stepping back. Plenty of creators have to do it. I went through a rough patch when I hit my 50's where I was burnt out at work, I was a single father and my dad died from a terminal illness where I had to travel up to Sydney weekends to see him. I ended up not being able to function and took a VR from my job and had to take year off before I went back to work. Like you, I thought I was Superman but even Superman has kryptonite. I had to stop trying to do it all and let people who cared about me help me and I did see a psychologist for a few months and that helped. Sometimes our lives are just too busy and just too pressured and we do need to step back and just focus on what is important. Hang in there - I got through my patch and life is good, if still busy...too damn busy!
Yeah, it’s just life these days, everyone is getting busier, trying to keep their heads above water.
But that’s when you need to step back a bit and reset. You soon realise how much you are missing out on in life when you do.
YT isn’t as much fun as people think, a lot goes into it behind the scenes, I’m definitely looking forward to going camping without the cameras.
