Mexico City Earthquake VLOG September 19 2017 | Magnitude 7.1

  • Today was a bad day in Mexico City. 32 years after the deadly earthquake that hit in 1985, a second struck today on September 19th 2017. Many buildings fell today in La Roma, Condesa and Navarte neighborhoods.
This happened just 2 weeks after the giant 8.2 earthquake off the coast of Oaxaca. That epicenter was roughly 500 kilometers away from this area. The earthquake of today was a magnitude of 7.9, but much closer. Only about 100km away near the states of Cuernavaca and Puebla.
We were able to record some it in a vlog starting just a few minutes after the quake, and walked around the area seeing if we could help, and observing the damage and aftermath. As a Canadian living in Mexico, I have never experienced anything like this before, and being an eye witness was very scary. Send prayers to the people on this city.

Some sectors of humanity are tested more than others; much respect for their fortitude. The solidarity shown by Mexicans in several videos has been a joy to see. One of my favourite countries, where many went out of their way to help - it will rise again.

First my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Mexico city and the area around. My hearts go out to our neighbors to the south.
The city will survive and life will go on, I lived in Los Angeles in '94 during the Northridge earthquake and I understand your pain and the feelings your feeling. The city will come together and help, out of tragedy comes hope and rebuilding. It is messed up that it hit on the anniversary of the '85 earthquake. Glad you and your girl and her family are ok. Keep filming and show the city and watch how it heels itself. Document this, it will help you. I went around after the '94 quake and took pics and still have them. They still help me, many of my friends home's got red tagged and couldn't live there anymore. But life will go on!
Make sure you tell the people of Mexico that their neighbors to the north are thinking about them and sending prayers!

I hope the damage and especially injury and deaths are at a minimum. I can't believe the warning sirens had already gone off and it's the same day as the big one in 85. This is insane. Stay safe. thank-you for the video and giving us some perspective from the ground.

I'm so glad you both are fine I have been worried all day about you both. I'm so sorry you saw that building fall I heard this afternoon there were 60 people who lost they're lives but not sure that was accurate. I can't imagine going through a 7 on the Richter scale that had to be the worse feeling ever. You will need each other for comfort for awhile. Please keep us up. To date and I will sure be praying for you both and for everyone in Mexico City a very sad day😥

Kateri Burnett there are more than 150 death's according to our government, 22 ( at least ) of them were children's trapped in a school ( a kindergartner actually ).
Mexico City was built in a place which use to be a lake, that magnifies the earthquake strength up to 100x times

I'm a new viewer and your emotion is palpable :/ I am Mexican-American and I feel horrible for my people,my country!! :( my mom survived the earthquake of 85,she was a just a child and even she was so emotional watching videos about this :/ because she was telling me that she doesn't remember the quake from 32 years ago but seeing this...I'm not sure I think subconsciously affected her :/ I thank you for filming this. I have family in Mexico and I remember,I felt worry and a sense of not being able to do anything :/ Edit: I will be praying your you and your girlfriend and my country I have subscribed as well.

It was a horrible experience for all of us in Mexico City. I was in a 4th floor when it happened, and you are right, there was no way people could've made it down to the main floor. I had to run up to the roof as quick as I could. It's the best option for those on the top floors. I really though the building was going to collapse since it's kind of going sideways since the 1985 earthquake, I've been told. I'm definitely moving out soon.

I was with my granny back then, in Puebla and when I came back and saw the fallen buildings, the shattered walls, the grieving people... my heart just broke. And 9 months have past and the government just kept the donations for the reconstruction of the city for themselves. This is what I hate about my country. All those selfish insensitive people that prevent the help to get to the ones who still need it. I just hope someday will be justice for all of them. Thanks for sharing this.

It was Hellish here for a little bit, but we're both ok. Mexicans are amazing. Everyone was helping so much.

Oh, and you just answered my question to another one of your videos, where you visit Insurgentes 300. I understand that the building is now off limits and it cannot be occupied.

The drill in the morning actually helped. It helped the people to be prepared and remind them of what to do when it happened (which was not expected)

Glad your ok. Glad your loved ones are ok. Saw all the TH-cam footage. Crazy. Unimaginably, if the epicenter were closer, or it were an 8.1 it could have been 10x worse. 9.1 - 100x worse.
