A magnitude-7.1 earthquake struck the central Mexican state of Puebla on Tuesday afternoon, leveling buildings as far away as the capital, about 75 miles away.
Preliminary reports put the epicenter 2.8 miles (4.5 kilometers) east-northeast of San Juan Raboso and 34.1 miles (55 km) south-southwest of the city of Puebla, according to the US Geological Survey.

Lord this is awful. My prays go out to the people of Mexico. But, I'm from Arizona, I know a lot of Mexicans. They are a strong and resourceful people. They will rebuild all this. Bigger, better and they will do it quickly. God bless Mexico.

@@edwardm1326 God didn't send the earthquake. It's a natural geological stress relief adjustment of the tectonic plates. God has zero to do with it. He also doesn't send hurricanes, tornados, floods, landslides, or droughts.
To believe He sends such disasters is both arcane and disrespectful of faith people have in a creator.

Not only is it hard to move around, its actually quite dangerous, most dead people found by rescue teams are found in the stairs of biuldings- they were trying to escape, sadly

Mexico City is so beautiful! I'm curious how long it took Mexican engineers to check and certify the safety of all the buildings still standing so folks could go back in them without having to worry about collapse? This must've been a terrifying experience for everyone, let alone people inside big buildings. I wonder how many older buildings had to be demolished after this quake?
A lot of buildings were demolished. And Mexico got lots of international help to check buildings
Remember it was built on top of a lake.
It normally takes 24 to 48 hours to check all builds, however that earthquake was so destructive that local authorities asked for help from other states of México, thousand of engineers from other states volunteer to inspect all buildings with structural damage.
Hours but people don’t complain they would rather be outside there’s always aftershocks

I live in Mexico City; you can't even walk because of the movement. If you try, you'll fall over and over 😞
I was in that earthquake and the movement was so strong that we couldn’t walk. Also with everything falling off it’s really dangerous and if you don’t get out before the earthquake starts and you are in a building the most likely part to fall first are the stairs so it’s better to stay where you are. But I agree the first clip was completely terrifying 😭

The angels are not to be sent to destroy, but instead are sent to gather the souls of the believers in His infinite and eternal love.
God neither creates nor sends destruction via natural disasters. Those belong to the earth. The earth is a design of rock, crusts, and layers of materials that do not stand stable.
God knows they are inevitable so he sends angels of grace and salvation who save the souls and leave some of the living alive because they are not done with God's plan yet.
I will never believe he controls what he GAVE to the earth. He gave the earth autonomy to readjust, reset, regenerate, and reform itself.

Que terrible son los terremotos pero lo es más cuando tienes ese tipo de edificación tan básica
literalmente puedes ver en el vídeo que este terremoto esta lejos de ser de 7.1, estamos encima de un lago antiguo por lo que los sismos suelen ser mas catastróficos que en un terreno como Chile, si te fijas bien ese terremoto parece que en intensidad supera mínimo los 8.0 grados, por último cabe mencionar que el epicentro fue muy cerca de la Ciudad de México
El ser parte de un terreno lacustre, las ondas van y vienen, se suman, por eso son más fuertes de repente en ciertas zonas durante el mismo momento. Además, en este caso el epicentro fue muy cercano.

Earthquake Drills need to include a safe exit strategy from buildings not built in the last 20 years. Any building's age over than that then RUN.

NativePrairieWolf nobody knows when a earthquake will happen until seconds before, sometimes not even that as someone mentioned in one of the videos the alarm didn't start until after the earthquake started, the people who are in higer floors are advised to not try to get out the buildings because is more dangerous to be in the stairs than in the area under a door since the structure is stronger there because they have this things I don't know how to say in english called "trabes" and the rest of the people you see are eighter already in the street and can't and shouldn't go back even if is to get more people out because they are not cualified for it and can cause more trouble than good, almost all the people in the city knows how to react in this situations I just study here and I can assure you people do alert other people to go out when they can
As you may know mexico city has skyscrapers, once the earthquake has begun its not recommended to walk the down the stairs! Once the earthquake starts you should take cover and brace yourself! Yes, mexico has an early warning system but if you stop and think that would only work if youre in a 3 story building!

Why on EARTH did the guy in the first video just stay there? That wall next to him looked like it was going to fail any second. I would have run outta that place in a hurry.
I know it's already late, but probably he was on a high level.
We're taught and instructed that being on level 5 or higher we should stay where we are and stick to safe zones in order to not get caught during the movement on the stairs, and let the rest of lower floors go to the reunion points outside the buildings, because we have from 30 secs to 1 minute since the sismic alert is activated. The thing is that in this specific earthquake, the origin point was right beside the city, wich didn't allow for that 30 secs frame to be valid. Literally the alert activated after the movement started, so no one had any time to prepare, it took us all by surprise.
