      DJ I think you will love "lamb rogan josh" if you try it and if it's done right.

    • @MrQuagmire26
      @MrQuagmire26 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rogan josh is a Kashmiri dish. Unfortunately most restaurants don't get it right as they serve mutton curry in stead of rogan josh.

      Maunika Gowardhan Maybe I will! Don't know if I'll find that cheese though, but then I just replace it with ricotta or haloumi. (probably the least expensive one)

    • @maunikagowardhan
      @maunikagowardhan 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or even chicken/ lamb will taste lovely.

    • @rwoz
      @rwoz 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I tried with ricotta which did not work at all, basically just melted in the pan, so chicken or maybe haloumi next time. It did not ruin the whole dish though, I really enjoyed the spices.

    • @wiqi86
      @wiqi86 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      rwoz how about paneer next time? paneer is not just an indian word for cottage cheese or any other cheese for that matter. it's a kind of cheese. for recipes involving paneer, you need paneer. it is readily available.

    Perfect. Tastes just the way you describe it and easy to make. Softness of paneer, crunchiness of bell pepper and a little tanginess from tomato comes in different packages while eating but even before you realize they mix up nicely. Level of spice can be varied. *****/*****

    Paneer is a great cheese , I bought some and tried it on the barbecue as the shop had sold out of Haloumi , It's so less salty and it doesn't melt. It tasted great and absorbed the great smoke taste of lump wood charcoal. BTW why doesn't't harouni and paneer melt?? *must look that up. This is a nice recipe. I normally have meat Jalfrezi , but I do veggie quite a lot.

    2 questions:
    Can i substitute Paneer cheese with haloumi? I've never heard of paneer before I wouldn't know where to buy it in my country.
    I saw that you sliced the ginger, i either grate it or chop it up reeeeally small. Aren't big chunks of ginger way too flavourfull and hard to chew?

    • @musically_insane

      I know this comment is super old but paneer is very easy to make at home! If you search on youtube you will find plenty of well explained videos. All you need is whole milk, vinegar/lemon, and salt. Paneer is honestly such a tasty vegetarian source of protein I highly recommend you to try it!

      and some fresh chilies, especially if using only Kashmiri chili powder, which is not really hot--cayenne or the usual Indian red chili powder would be a good substitute for at least part of the Kashmiri chili powder. I also did not see any garam masala added, and it is usually used in this dish.
