      Hey. Love your videos. However, I was wondering if you know of any pots, 15-25/30 gallons that just aren't as expensive as the growpro ones or if you know a cheaper way of getting them? They look fantastic, but 50 dollars for a pot is well, a lot.

    Hello, my biggest question is does this soil 1:38 have enough drainage? I thought citrus needed a lot of drainage. It doesn’t look like it has any pine bark or perlite in it. Up to this point i had intended on mixing 5 parts pine bark mulch, 1 part perlite and 1 part organic potting mix and espoma citrus tone. But this soil is better and drainage is fine? Also can i use the citrus tone in this soil?
    5:08 never mind 🤣🤣

      Shalom and welcome. Pruning the roots is a old outdate term used by gardeners that do not know what they are doing and because they have heard it before. My soil amendments makes it to where your trees can thrive in the same soil for 15 plus years provided you add compost every year and foliar feed the trees from the bottom of the leave up at the STOMA.

    I’ve planted my 4ft citrus tree into our yard and made the hole twice as wide and maybe just slightly deeper. My concern is that when I planted it I used potting mix with some aged cow manure around the root ball. I did not mix in any of the original soil ( it is soft as we’ve recently had some earthwork done) should I be worried? , I’m thinking of possibly getting a pitchfork/shovel and mixing the surrounding soil around. Any thoughts?
    Thank you 🙏🏼

    • @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425
      @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you should be concern which is reason you and many others should do your research beforehand. Patience in the garden is very important. Take it out the ground and place it in a container until spring 2022. Watch my citrus playlist so that you use the correct soil. Also you do not use potting soil in the ground (hence potting soil) that goes in a container and planting mix would go in the ground. As for native soil, yes you need to mix that with planting mix.

      I hope you don’t mind Obug, but I would love to offer M.A some help. When I first started growing citrus I had the challenge of growing in temps that reach over 110 degrees. There wasn’t much out there for us desert gardeners.
      I currently do not let my citrus trees fruit, I’m just focusing on growing them to be strong.
      So M.A most citrus will grow just fine in such temps. I have had success with shade cloth when temps are above 100. Experiment with 30-50%. My shade cloth sits a few feet away from the tree, protecting the leaves and the trunk. Follow OBug’s knowledge on how to fertilize the tree and watering. This is vital cause you don’t want your tree to be stressed out. A schedule is key! I watch and rewatch his videos regarding citrus as I prefer visual learning. These are some of the most detailed videos for container growing trees out there. Adjust what you need according to your backyard micro climate. Learn your tree. If you can, check your tree daily.
      Another tip ... if you can hold off on a tree until you weather is in the low 90s but above mid 70s, I would wait. Yes it is doable to transplant when the temps are in the 100s but you have to BABY the tree. Google optimal temp for citrus tree growing (I can’t remember it). But follow what OBug does for growing citrus, adjust for you zone. I wish you all the success with the citrus tree you choose and happy gardening 🥰.
