    I can't wait until we are able to rip out the concrete slab in our backyard and redo the retaining wall that runs along the back of our backyard. We live at the base of a hill so we can't eliminate it, so we decided it will become a long raised garden bed for smaller plant varieties and flowers. The flowers will be too add beauty, some used as trap crops, and a way to attract bees. It'll really help save my back too!
    I can't wait to have a backyard more like yours! I'm envisioning some raised garden beds and a patio big enough for the BBQ & a decent sized table. For now, we are sticking to container gardening. I fell in love with gardening last spring. Getting a Meyer lemon tree and a couple tomato plants for our son turned into using our front (corner lot) yard as a garden. We've met so many more neighbors, shared tips, and given some of our extra plants and their bounty to anyone showing interest.
    We plan to add 1-2 raised beds per year to break up the financial investment and so we don't put in too much money if it becomes an on& off again hobby rather than a lifestyle shift. I'm already dreaming of having a small homestead (5-10 acres) tho.

    Thank you so much for all your excellent information. I have 18 citrus trees I have just bought as young trees and I want to get the best start for them. I do have a drip system and I have the 2 gallon drippers going for 5-10 mins a day for the first month. Then I'll switch to 2x a week. I'm checking with my local nursery to see if they have some of the products you are talking about. I also have my own worm farm so I have lots of casting & casting tea. I never thought about the rock dust in the holes I plant (in my casting mix, but worms eat it) and I never thought about fertilizing once a month with your organic fertilizer. My casting tea I just molasses but not the powder which I will now switch to. That has just been the most wonder information and I greatly appreciate it!

    First I would like to tell you I enjoy your well explained teachings on citrus gardening. My wife and I have been anticipating growing some citrus trees here in Tennessee which will require us to take them in the basement during the winter. We have been watching your videos for about 2 weeks. May I ask you some questions that will probably show you my ignorance about gardening to someone as experienced as you. When you plant citrus in a 40 gallon pot like you did, how long will it go before you need to take it out of that pot to prune the roots? Thanks in advance for any help you offer.

    • @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425
      @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Firstly please take the time to watch my citrus playlist. All you need to know is there for your learning. It also boost my watch time and please be sure to allow all the adds to play with skipping through them. It's the only way a creator can make some sort of income . th-cam.com/video/uHRdP_0WfL8/w-d-xo.html
      P.S If you follow my recommendations . Especially the soil amendments I use. You will never have to up pot your citrus trees. That is because I have developed a soil mixture that will work with your trees for at most 15-20 years. Again don't forget to have you and your wife grab a cup of coffee or tea (hot) and sit back a allow my playlist to just run. Trust me you will enjoy it. You may even get a laugh or two okay. Shalom and blessing to you and your family.

    I just ordered the molasses from your sight, and I also bought worm castings today to add to my pot. I’m thinking of repotting my Ponderosa lemon in the spring and changing my miracle grow potting mix to the cactus, palm and citrus soil mix. Do you think this is a good idea? I’m following your tip on holding back watering to encourage blooms, because I think I’ve been overwatering it, and it needs to dry out some. Hopefully this helps.😊

    Hi Martine, Thanks for sharing your high quality information with us. How do you protect your plants from hail and a lot of rain?

    • @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425
      @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take you roughly 4 wooden stakes that are 2-3 feet taller than the tree. Place them in the containers at all corners. Purchase shade cloth to stop the tree from taking in too much rain. As for the hail, you can take the same idea and wrapt around the poles 3 or 6ml greenhouse plastic you can pick up from Lowe's or home depot.

    Thank you Martine for sharing your wisdom. We will be getting agricultural molasses in the near future. Question. We are in area 7b and recently purchased a couple of small citrus plants in 1 gallon containers. Because of the temperatures we will keep them in the house till the spring. Is it ok to up-pot them then, or should I do so now? Thank you and God bless.

    • @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425
      @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, absolutely you are welcome. Do not up pot them right now. Keep them in a protective space and in Feb not March, but February you can up pot them. That way they will have settle and be ready for Spring. February 14 is usually the perfect time to up pot your trees. I'm actually releasing a video on this. Take Care Jose!

    Good day brother. Are ants drawn to the plants by doing this? If not, I'm going to apply to all my fruit trees in the spring. Also, good video as usual.

    • @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425
      @elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ants are a natural part of the soil decomposition. There must be a balance anything less and things go south real fast. Although ants can be a nuisance they can be very beneficial too. Just be sure to keep them in control and make sure they are not harboring aphids in your trees. It's very hard to get rid of them, so what I do instead is work with them and with nature. I set up bait to feed them and eventually suppress them enough that I lower there numbers.

    • @christopherjones1951
      @christopherjones1951 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As always, thanks for the information. Here in Mississippi, ants are always a problem after it rains. Would hate to give them more reason to visit more frequently.
