    Great video, I noticed you had a Rx & Tx. However when I’m trying to program in chirp, I only get the option for one frequency.
    Am I doing something wrong when programming?
    Thank you 👍

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm not sure I didn't use chirp for these I used the 9100 software

    • @Brockstar10000
      @Brockstar10000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ringway Manchester Thanks for your reply, I worked it out. If anyone else is trying to understand it in Chirp.
      The offset is the second frequency, so Channel 1 144.000 channel 2 146.500 = + 2.5 offset.
      👍

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah yeah good point so 430.900 output would need +7.6 step to generate the 438.500 input right?

    • @Brockstar10000
      @Brockstar10000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ringway Manchester Yes, that’s correct. So if anyone else it trying to work it out, now you know. 👍

      Crypto B I managed to program mine on chirp but could only get repeaters in and not 446mhz frequencies in or give it any names for the repeaters . Not bad for the price

    Thanks for this vid Lewis.... I've had my eye on this model for a while... I love the UV-5R... I'm going to order 2 on the back if this now..... cheers....
    Ps just bought a broken DJI Spark and fixed it.... great addition to the Mavic... Hope your Disco is going well.... cheers...Hamilton

      Hi Hamilton hope you're well! Yeah they're a great little radio and very disposable too.
      Broken spark project sounds great! Congrats! Looking at a Mavic in the coming weeks hopefully and the Disco is a fantastic flyer but rubbish camera in cold weather.

    Love the radio, have two for my wife and I. Great when I loose her when shopping. Bought a uv-5r studying for my ham license. It is like a t-1 on steroids. T-1 is highly recommended.

    I think you put the battery in the wrong way round - it is not a "design flaw", there is actually a recess in the radio's case moulding to accept the battery's cable. Looking at the rear of the radio, the battery should be inserted with the cable coming out of the top right-hand corner, and it fits without difficulties. 73 de Phil G4SPZ

  • @Crlarl

    They're so close to making this a license-free radio. Hardware-wise it's there but FRS/GMRS radios need to be non-programmable and can only transmit on their allocated bands. They could easily make firmware to comply. It could even allow listening on other frequencies but restrict transmission. I don't know what is required for PMR446 but I assume something similar would be easy to make.

  • @ccsukdigital
    @ccsukdigital 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The battery cable will actually fold into the gap above the battery before it is pushed fully in - stops the wires getting pinched by the back panel.

  • @risingsunflagsamemeaningas7472
    @risingsunflagsamemeaningas7472 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason for having two pttrks is that it is a spare concept in case of failure due to scalability or high frequency of use.
    If the emergency button is entered in the program, it is set on the screen and receives priority over the channel.

    Have you tried it with Chirp? Thinking of non Windows users.

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know! Bargain! Nobody would ever know they weren't legal, there's probably more baofeng users on PMR than legal ones haha.

    Great video Lewis. I ordered a pair of these yesterday (after seeing the video) for me and the boy when we go walkabout outdoors. Also ordered a cable. He's not a licensed amateur and doesn't want to go through the hassle of getting one (yet - If I can get him talking via PMR who knows). I noticed that these radios also have 1w transmit power, not exactly legal for PMR in the UK. Anyhoo ATB!! 73 - M6UAW - Andy

    Bought 2 pairs of these for the summer vacation and then saw your videos on WLN KD C1 and ordered them as well (on the way). It will be hard for me to choose which ones to keep. I bought 4 of these for camping trips and walks and they were ok but range in open areas and wooded areas not great and battery life was horrendous sometimes not even lasting a full walk. they sat in my attic for about 3 years and no the batteries after full charge (if they charge at all) they don't even last 30 minutes. so big fail on this HT for the battery.

    I have one of these and 2 more on order. They're cheap in price. I started to mod the antenna connection; removed the coiled ant, and installing PCI UFL to sma cable (2 inches) inside. It's a tight fit, and lifted the trace where antenna was soldered. I might try to install where the led is. I'll use the housing portion of flashlight reflector and install SMA chassis mount there. My goal is to use a dualband rubber duckie antenna as I am interested in 2M/VHF as well. Amazon has 2 for $36... I cant complain :)

  • @ToddHa

    At 19:16 in the video, you mention STE. I think you assumed it had something to do with the Step of the frequencies or similar. STE = Squelch Tail Elimination. Which silences the annoying Squelch Tail noise at the end of transmissions from other radio users. STE is helpful to most operators and should always be turned ON. Squelch Tail Elimination usually works. Though, there are some radios where it works better and others where it does not quite work its magic. I love STE and am glad it's available. DMR, D-Star & C4FM radios do not have Squelch Tail issues. But Analog Radios do. Any and every analog radio that includes the STE feature should have it automatically turned ON. In my opinion.

      Hi mate yeah you need a license to talk but not to listen. So you can programme repeaters in but just can’t transmit. As for antenna, you really need an external antenna but a mag mount for vhf/uhf on a bit of metal in the loft could work ok,

    Nice little radio. I had to go back to the beginning of the video a couple of times as the first time, I thought I'd miss heard... I think you said it's .... £13, delivered?.... WTF! :-) ... at that price, I think we've got to the stage that they are 'throw-away' devices... i.e... if you happened to drop it in the canal while out and about, you'd just shrug, and order another one! ;-) Other than the points you raised about the battery and how it's fitted, I like the idea of the USB charging and programming.
    As you highlighted... anyone who's used a Baofeng type radio before will be very familiar with the programming and operating. Little Radio... little price.... big win! ;-) 73

    Hi Lewis. Interesting that you say you think they may have outsourced the manufacture of the T1. If you look on Baofeng's website the T1 doesn't exist. Hmmm, I wonder if it is an official product. Still bought one nevertheless.

    Hi Lewis. Great little video. My daughter does horseriding - if I bought two T1s and plugged the earphones into them, would we be able to speak to each other as she rides around the Horse Arena, (using VOX as she wouldn't be able to PTT as she is riding)? I only need a range of 100m, in direct line of sight.
    There are some Two-Way comms units out there especially aimed at the Horse Training market that use Bluetooth, and I believe the quality is crystal clear and they are full duplex, but the prices are £150+ so out of my range (no pun intended...)
    Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    I'm trying to descide between the BF-T1 and the UV-3+ ????
    I'm studying for my foundation and have just purchased a UV-82 - I don't know a great deal about these radios yet.
    I'm looking for a small radio as a backup to the UV-82 or just to use when travelling light but I'm not sure if I'll miss not having VHF and other functions the UV-3+ has that the BF-T1 hasn't.
    I can get the BF-T1 for £10 and the UV-3+ for £13. Does the smaller size of the T1 make up for the loss of VHF frequencies ?
    Help and Thanks :)
