Hi Mate Thanks for the comment :-) yes I do like the T1 for what it is however with such big hands is more for me of a radio for the kids, what is nice to see on this video is just how well the FT60 performs compared to the other radios, its the oldest radio that I use and its power and audio are superb, better than the Icom IMO, it has just had a new battery, not bad the old one lasted 8 years or so and was hardly ever charged. Yes I have 3 more radios on the shelf to test and have a superb video on the way where I go through a pirate radio transmitter from the 1980s/90s, I also have a video coming up on the Pye Westiminster radio which I modified in the 80s which still works!! Yeah I agree they're more of a novelty, I got mine to make a cheap car emergency comms kit but never got round to doing it. I've got 20+ videos planned out but not enough hours in the day with house, dogs, rebecca, work etc. These radios are so collectible and so cheap it's brilliant. I can't even believe you plan on giving some away haha! The upcoming videos sound amazing mate and I can't wait to see them. Any other stuff that's hush hush regarding pirate stuff you don't feel like making public, I'd love to see unlisted ;) Pye Westminster mod sounds a good video too, looking forward to that one. I managed to make a 80 kilometers qso from my t1 to another ham from two mountains top he was using a baofeng uv-5 very nice little rig. With a vfo it was perfect
Ehh, I Have had both, and the Baofengs value for money are better, as long as you are not in an rf overload situation then the Yeasu is better hands down due to the poor front end rejection. Quality for comms is just as good with the Baofeng UV-5r just strictly speaking for communicating.
It would be highly interesting to see how the Boafeng T1 compares to other similarly small consumer two way radios like the Motorola TKLR / 350 series or Midland G5/G7 (which can be modified to 3 Watts) I use my radios mostly for mountainbiking / holiday and the UV-5R is already too bulky / heavy to carry it around all day
Were you able to switch the Radio into High Power Mode? I have a pair and I'm following the instructions provided, but cant for the life of me get it switched to high power on either unit. (Press and hold lamp\power for 2 sec)
Baofeng T1 is dual band radio, but antena on it is UHF. I have that radio and it's good because it's a little pocket. Same as RT22 which is something bigger but practical. Minus at T1 is a loud sound. We lower the sound al and still loud: D It may be minus because there is no channel name. Frequency and channel number only. Minus is putting the battery in the device. It could be simpler and easier. But all in all, more than a solid device. Small, fit in the hand, pocket. The antenna can not be broken.
T1 is NOT dual band radio!!! It is the UHF band radio only. It does not mean that if it is possible to writing the VHF frequency into that it works correctly and it is designed for...!
knoxieman I could not find proper review wln vs. t1 so I bought both sets. I like the fact that WLN is powerfull but I also like form factor with T1. I bought 4pcs T1 but I may keep 2 wlns and 2 T1.
Get the baofeng BF 888 you can pick a pair up for £17 cheaper if you look aroud on Ebay and they are 2 watts argos iceland and b&q use them still has to be programmed by PC I had two for my grand children programmed them for pmr 446 cost me £20 × 2 about 2 years ago great value cheaper than a 446 only radio

I’m a newbie & considering buying a pair of these but can you please tell me why I would need to program these..what am I programming it for exactly ? .. & can I use a pair of them as simple walkie talkies, without having to program ? .. any help/advice would be hugely appreciated 😁🙏🏻
Yes well they come out of the factory on random frequencies that may not be legal for you to use in your country so you would need to find that frequencies are legal where you are and program the to suit, if you get the radios from the same supplier at the same time they will more than likely work together with no programming but you might be using frequencies you shouldn't be using.

I like the WLN KD C1 over the T1 myself. The volume issue on the T1 is annoying as heck, the WLN seems stronger and has much better receive audio. Best sounding receive audio if any radio Ive ever owned, including the "big 3" and Motorola.
Radios are very useful, mobile phones are only as useful as the network, outside of some towns and cities in rural places there is no signal, we holiday on Cornwall most beaches have no signal what so ever, radios are very useful, if you have kids and groups of people they are a cheap and easy way to chat with each other, again you can't always rely on a cell signal.
Ever gone on a road trip in 2 or more cars? Much better to radio between the cars than fool with a phone. Also around the house if Im out doing yard work I can put this in a pocket and not have to carry my phone, and then communicate with my wife. Also hiking in the mountains, no cell signal, but the radios work great. Also group comms much easier with a radio than with cell phones. Lots of uses for 2 way radios over cell phones. Different tools for different jobs.
I would have died for this little radio as a kid. Still a nice little radio to have around.

+Roman Maurer yes I agree I can do that, I've got a field strength meter on the way to help test the radios with fixed antenna's

Yes high power works, it's worth getting the program cable though you can set power as you like then.

Everybody say it's half a watt to one watt why do the sticker under battery say two watts
It's very rare they output the power that they say they will
it has 1 watt. Many people have tested the real power of it!

Yes very likely as batches often come out programmed with the same set of frequencies

How on earth did you get those kind of results from a T1, I can't get over 1km between two T1's on Pmr ch10 across fields!...
It's to a base station with a much higher gain antenna, so not comparable to between two T1s
