I subscribed at the time that you and Alex complemented each other and I loved the content that both of tou were creating. I am not here for content about life, but rather about board games. However, I enjoy your authentic approach to board game reviews. I love how you go into detail, both in photography of the game and reviewing its content, pros and cons. So I am here in the good times and the bad, but appreciate mostly your focus on board games.
Started watching you play K.D.M. and stayed for everything else. I enjoy watching various games being played but watch about anything your channel puts out.
I came here and I stayed to "hang out" with you and your friends. Watch the stories that unfold above the table. It sounds weird when I put it like that, but I love seeing you having fun. I re-watch a lot of campaign series you made. It's rather an escape from the daily grind, so I usually skip everything else. I don't care for KS campaigns, endless stream of new game previews, reviews, rules gotchas etc. All the best!
came here for you.Your story and the real conversations. I originally subbed when you did the origins vlog in 2018? 19? then we met at gencon 2019. Had a brief convo but you were one of my first contacts in the gaming industry.
I definitely originally subscribe for root. Got interested in kdm from you. But honestly I just miss gameplay. And Wes. You guys are all great, and watching you guys having fun figuring out these different games was always what I liked best. I've never found that reviews actually capture the experience of playing the game as well as actually seeing people play it
I disagree. He's trying to find his formula again. I just see a man that lost something he didn't fully understand. It was great seeing your old patreon released on here. The giga lion video brought back some fond memories. Keep rebuilding relationships. Try to have fun again if you can, man. I'm legitimately sorry if you're struggling.
Congratulations on your family's new addition! Still waiting for Arcs content! Also, when are you going to start drinking good (read: Scottish, Indian, Japanese single malt) whisky? ;)
I’ve been here since pre Covid. I loved your view on things; your cadence, you took it serious but still had fun. As a financial planner , you gave me an escape from the stress of my job during COVID and 2022 when the markets were wild in fear over world events. When I lost my mom your videos helped me escape the loss of her in 2022. Your love of board games helped motivate me to play monthly with my dad, brother and nephew to get my dad out of house after the loss of her. I even started a channel because you made me love the hobby so much. “Champions of Tabletop” is small but we would love to do something with you! You got me through a lot and I’d love to share a game with you sometime!
You make the best playthroughs. You and your friends are really entertaining to watch, your banter is great. I especially miss the Past 2AM format, but just your normal playthroughs are always great too. I often rewatch/have on in the background your playthroughs of games I really like, they're like comfort videos haha. As for an actual game I'd like to see played? Barbaric, with 6 players. You and West did a 2P one but it does not shine at 2P at all.
Your desk looks strangely similar to mine right now... My glass is full of Ardbeg Wee Beastie... SKAL! Love your teach/play videos and digging into campaigns and sharing about life along the way :)
I have been around for quite some time. I think I come around for the people that have been with you as much as you. I think the best times were when you were still on good terms board game co, you had your wife and west. I've heard from others the issues around that time and how things ended up here and from you yourself. Ay the end of the day I think when you love something, it shines through, and when you're trying to be a business, it shines through. You, unfortunately, were not blessed with an effective filter or poker face. Your emotions are apparent. I think you had lessons in life to learn and God blessed you with hard times to allow you to grow. You are more grateful than you've ever been and that is more important than money or success. I'd love to see you patch things up with others in the community. I know that may not be entirely up to you. Not a big apology video but for you to a video with Alex playing a game just showing that the past is the past. You with the creators like into the unknown showing you've buried the hatchet (them too). I'd love to see you rise up out of this with love. Your community behind you and your friends holding you up. No longer prideful but loving and greatful for it. Sorry if that was too much. You show your soul to us all and I'd love to see you back in full. Not hanging on.
Started because you were personable and talked board games. Stayed to support you and follow your story. Love the idea of making adult games family friendly!
I’ve always liked your game reviews the best. I could do with more short form reviews for big games. Love the one stop co-op shop format. Maybe since you have less time (I remember those years!) you could do shorter videos? There are enough other overview/long form reviews out there, but I always valued your opinion on stuff because we have a similar taste in games.
You ask what we want to see for Quackalope… I feel like you should be telling us that? You’ve clearly given it a lot of thought. Put out the content and let us react to it.
I subscribed initially because I loved how intelligent you were when speaking on behalf of games. You brought a true profession to the content creator world. I then stayed because I liked the top 10's and the top "x" video. I stopped watching honestly when there were several different friend personalities that came on because it felt strayed away from the original Quackalope I loved. I understood the willingness to grow and do what you enjoy, these were simply my thoughts. I loved you and Shira's gameplay of Lorcana. Would love to see more series like that (Obviously I know now it isn't as possible). Overall, I still enjoy, just haven't watched as much lately cause i'm not a fan of RPGs myself or big box games lol. Quack.
I like one off conversational style videos where you and or other people just talk about whatever topic is of current interest. In general, if someone is passionate about something, then that makes for good viewing. I've seen plenty of other channels that will do the obligatory game preview videos, just for one example, where it's clearly just for the paycheck and not because there's any true passion for the game, and I can tell and I can see that other people can tell because the view numbers are significantly below the average. Gameplay videos are tricky. If it's a game that I don't care about and don't plan on caring about, then I have no interest in it, especially if it's asking for an hour+ of my time. If it is a game that I care about, then it's more enjoyable for me to watch if 1) everyone in the game is experienced and competitive and not just learning on the fly, and 2) people are thinking out loud about their strategic choices, why they're choosing this move over that move, things they're trying to be aware of, that sort of thing, and less of the normal shoot-the-shit banter. Game preview and review videos - they're of interest to me if they are games that you are actually interested in or passionate about. Specifically, I'm interested in knowing how it compares with other games in its genre, what it compares to, what twists does it add and what makes it different, how does it make you feel when you play it, what kind of person would really like it and what kind of person should stay away. I think that there's still room in the space for more and better how-to-play videos. Specifically, in the realm of quick start videos. The biggest hurdle to getting an unplayed game onto the table is learning the rules, and a full rules teach video is really just a little less daunting than reading the rulebook, especially if it's a longer video. If I was trying to learn a game like Root, for example, I would love a ~15 minute quick start video on how to set up, core concepts, understanding terminology and iconography and round structure and victory conditions, and briefly pointing out tricky parts of the rules and where in the rulebook to dive deeper into those.
TBH I don't care about playthroughs one bit (on yours or other channels). I just want to hear about boardgames: thoughts, news, previews, reviews, designers. I liked the showcasing of indie creators previously too
Congratulations with your litle boy. For us it was life before and after becoming parents. And time will be a limiting factor for you with a todler. My selfish wish would be Root boardgame with friends. I realy enjoy those videos. That said, do this at your own pace and follow your passion so you will be able to enjoy this project.
Others have said it, but I'll throw my lot in as well. Quackalope isn't a channel I go to when I want a frank, unencumbered presentation of a game. There are other channels that are great for that. Quackalope is a channel I watch for the human side of the equation. Board games aren't just what comes in the box, they're what happens between people at the table, and that's always been my favorite element of your videos. Some of my all-time favorite Quackalope videos are the ones you did with West about Age of Steam - partly, that's because I'm more of an AoS gamer than a KDM gamer, but mostly it's because I could sense your genuine enthusiasm for the game, and even (I might be projecting here) a bit of surprise at how much you enjoyed it. I guess, then, that what I want to see from Quackalope going forward is not just "coverage of games", but discussion about what you love in games, why you love it, gameplays that show why games are fun. I don't mind personal stuff working its way in here and there; that's my whole point, that it's human beings who play these games, not crash test dummies. Don't chase the hotness, chase the happiness. ... Wow, that's deep. I just blew my own mind. Typed over a lovely Lawson's Whiskey House San Luis Valley Rye. Do recommend.
My first contact with you was when you asked everyone for questions to ask Poots, and I have been here ever since. I backed Venture Dark because of you, I followed your Root Content too, and liked your picks for right for you wrong for you. Congrats on the baby, and I hope you find your stride again.
You shouldn't care what others want or think. Do your thing. Don't try to please others. Do what you want, and natural selection will do the rest. Only the vieuwers who like your content will stay. Succes garantied. Are you feeling me? Dont try to attract audiences. Do your thing and the adience will find his way.
I found your channel via Root. Root was my introduction to the boardgame scene, so you also have a special place in my heart ;) I find you very authentic and down to earth. It's fun to watch you guys. I would love to see reviews and discussions. Gameplays are great too, but I honestly have less time for that. I have to concentrate on watching gameplays. I can listen to reviews and discussions on the side. I'm a big fan of leder games and connoisseur games and strategy games in general, but I would also enjoy other genres and Games. So I would like a channel to get to know new cool games through cool people :)
I came for the board game related vlogs, convention vlogs, i'm still subscribed because I want to know how you pull out of the EVENT and juggling jobs and a baby. I have skipped most playthroughs. I liked your chaotic energy sometimes. I liked your collabs. Either way do what you love. I'll stay subscribed but I will consume the most.
I came here because of Root but stayed because of the authenticity. I appreciate you talking about the theme and impact it has on kids and yourself. As a father of four boys and a man pursuing the creator, this is one of the most challenging parts of the board game scene.
I came for root and leder game content. I still rewatch some of the old content. I would love to see more gameplay of root especially with the new expansion just being funded
@@Quackalope I just looked the up and the kickstarter had a link to the PNP files in the updates let me know if you can’t access them and I can probably send you a Dropbox link
I came here for the Root and Leder Games but I stayed for the funny people and friends and genuine interactions. It’s a joy to just watch gameplay regardless if it’s wrong rules or lengthy turns just seeing you have fun with people playing games and making jokes it made me happy. It still makes me happy. I rewatch gameplay and right and wrong for you and the drinking game video that “isn’t real”. I personally would love to see more gameplay with guests and friends regardless of the game and I love the right or wrong for you content. Honestly most board game content from you is just good. Also also I love the flavor text lol it makes me smile and the stories you tell with games are very cool. I’ve been rambling here but overall I’m just happy with the board game content and hearing from an honest good person
. . . I mean, it has not been a failure in any regard. It might have hit a few bricks and trolls along the way - but the channel has been an amazing opportunity and has been wildly successful.
I loved the personal interaction you all had while playing games! Whether it was the banter between you and Jan, or gameplays and reviews with you an Alex, or Wess and Shira and you all just displaying your friendship! My favorite has to be the gameplays but the reviews and conversations that ensured was always a pleasure too!
I am here for the gaming, life, and all the rest content. Thank you for all that you have done and still doing. It will be such a great feeling when you teach your son something and watch him run with it. love those moments.
I love this channel for it’s vibe, people, gameplay and everything. About a week ago I became an Abba as well, so seeing how this new parenthood world balances with board games is precious for me
Long time fan. Cheers! Great to see you back. I've always loved your authenticity and as a father and someone who is also devoutly religious I can relate to your worldview and it's refreshing as it is not very well represented in the youtube board game space. I enjoy the playing content the most and my favorite videos are just watching game play in a relaxed and chill setting. It doesn't have to be ultra produced and shiny, it just needs to be fun. If your having fun playing, I'm having fun watching. Everyone being themselves and having a good time together. Best of luck
Researching Root brought me to your channel in the first place. So I guess I'd like to see gameplays of the "older" games. Covering new games is fine, but everyone does that.
I have always said Quackalope has been a channel I go to to feel like I am at the table with friends. I love your gameplay content . Watching you play with friends and interacting, getting in on some inside jokes with everyone! They’re what I come for! I want to see you get back into a groove in what ever way you feel fit for. I enjoy the conversation pieces. I enjoy watching you come up with stuff! I hope to get to be apart of stuff with you! Please don’t stop giving life updates and bringing us into the fold of what you’re up to and how it’s affecting you and what it means to you. I am here in the end for and with you and what ever this journey turns into. And to be honest life has not been very fair to me recently. Some is all my fault, some is inadvertently my fault, and some there can be some blame to share with others. But I am the sole controller of my life and destiny. So I am working on reworking and reorganizing my thoughts and how I process it all. Coming to terms with and learning to Renegade life with neurodivergent thought processes at 34 was not the bingo I wanted to score on, yet this is what I have been dealt so this is how I am to figure out how to be the best version of myself at the moment. It’s hard out there. This past year even as just a Jewish man I have felt so much fear and anxiety about people hating on Jews directly and indirectly. It’s not an easy situation to navigate. End of the day, I look forward to your content again and the games you play, with the friends you invite to play them with!
Because I met you and your then soon to be wife at Pax East and shared a great conversation with you about my Love for Jesus at a weird bar. I think you're a cool dude :)
Originally, it was the game content that brought me on board. Now I would say it's the conversation, journey, transparency, and life journey. Don't get me wrong I still love the game content, but don't think that's why I am still here.
Ironically, I'm pretty sure that I started watching this channel when I was a new dad trying to keep myself occupied during some sleepless nights, transferring a nursing a baby back and forth while juggling unfinished work from the day and housekeeping chores. For instance, I vividly remember listening to you and Jan talk about Root while I spent an hour washing dishes at 2 am. I didn't have time for significant gaming in my life, but I was able to enjoy some of it anyway through the conversation of you and your friends. There are two things that have always drawn me to Quackalope. One is the authenticity of your presentation, the openness of your heart and mind. I've loved sharing your journeys these past few years, and I hope to continue following along for many more to come. The other is your genuine love of board-gaming. I don't care what you play or review, as long as you are having a good time and sharing that with us. Finally, I'd like to say that being a father of young kids and anything else is hard. That's just life, and there's nothing wrong with that. I'd love to hear about how you try to still game while being a father. If you're anything like me, you'll spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out how to approach games with kids, how to make good games accessible, and how to share your passions with your family, even just as an example of how to love creativity and play. Once again, I know it's hard. I just realized that I don't think I've had an uninterrupted night's sleep in eight years, and that's not something that anybody warned me about! But these parts of life are there for a reason, and there's a lot of joy to be found. We're all pulling for you, Quack!
Started when I was in a frenzy of board game content. Stopped watching your videos as I faded on boardgames in general, but still came back from time to time when it was about a game that interested me. Then the thing happened and it made me realize that I was turned off from your content because of all the growth hack techniques you were using. One thing you said in the middle of that, which was absolutely correct, was that you and NPI had the same criticisms. The thing that followed from that observation for me was that I enjoyed their video because of how they presented it. So I unsubscribed. All that is to say, I'm not your target audience, but I would love to see you take your insights and talents and turn them to less attention seeking content. Start playing some TTRPG one-shots. Try to do a review with a personal touch about a game published over a year ago that doesn't have a hype train behind it. I'm resubscribing now, because I want to see what you do. Idk how long I'll stay subscribed.
Really liked the playthroughs with guests and friends. Looking forward to watching your videos!!

WOW!!! Congratulations on the baby! There is nothing on this earth that will change you quite like parenthood. Don't blink! :)
Maybe go paint your nursery? There is no better time than now to do it.
I came for root and leder game content. I still rewatch some of the old content. I would love to see more gameplay of root especially with the new expansion just being funded
Does the new stuff have Print and Play available like some of the old KS did?
If so, I’m on it :)
@ they have the print and play online I believe. I was able to check out the new boards. That is how most channels did their previews
@ alright, challenge accepted. Time to find and download.
@@Quackalope I just looked the up and the kickstarter had a link to the PNP files in the updates let me know if you can’t access them and I can probably send you a Dropbox link
@ I might not have access if it’s an update! What to go ahead and email me the files?

This project is a failure, time to move on bro
. . . I mean, it has not been a failure in any regard. It might have hit a few bricks and trolls along the way - but the channel has been an amazing opportunity and has been wildly successful.
I love your Play through vids and colabs with board game co
Is that The Wheel of Time on your desk? 😮😮😮 My favorite series of all time!
Good to have you back!
I love the honour and the authenticity off Jesse. And of course the games. And the reviews
Quack
