    Really good video ! I’ve always associated ‘tight lies’ needing low bounce but recently been fitted into SM10 K grind 14 bounce and the difference is phenomenal. I don’t tend to open the face much or at all on chips and pitch shots so happy to let the club do its thing even on really tight lies. Great club out of bunkers too.

    I played with very low bounce wedges for years found out tour players don't even do that. I had very bad advice. It was a mistake. Bang on. Brilliant. Thanks!!

      Yeah I think many have been mis lead or had poor info, I think for most high bounce makes the game so much easier

    Thanks Chris. I’ve learnt a lot with this video. I’ve always believed bounce, used correctly, is your best friend. I’ve never had a fitting session for any wedges and just gone with what I think is best for me. Possibly due to only having an indoor session (like I do with irons and woods) as turf interaction is so different with wedges than hitting off a synthetic material. Never considered different shafts. Thanks again, it will be handy for 2025 as I’ve already purchased a new set of the same clubs in the 4’s with the same bounces as I had with the 3’s. So far so good.

      Thanks Marcus, I learnt a lot too, one of the reasons I love a fitting. Totally agree too that bounce is so important on a wedge. Hopefully some info here that you can use next year 🙏🏻

    Great video Chris. I was fitted into my wedges with the 58 at half a flex softer at 6.0. Now you've got me thinking about different shaft options for improving spin and trajectory control.

      I think that’s probably a good fit, slight softer than your irons should be ideal, that’s what I did, just a little softer and they feel great

    I think bounce depends on course conditions as well. My local courses in South Africa have hard fairways so my 60 has a low bounce, just an extra point, thanks.

    Chris, good vid but shaft is just as important as well and there are a variety of good wedge shafts. Hard to figure out what is best

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah definitely, we did cover shaft a little and changed the fleet and weight to suit, but agreed that could be a whole video on its own

    I have used, vokeys in my bag, SM5. Came with Dynamic 130gram. Hated the hard feel. I had Pulled shafts 95gram NS Pro Reg flex in. Lovely feel much softer feel. Spin went up by hundreds.

      Crazy isn’t it how much a shaft can change the feel and performance of a wedge

    Very Similar situation to you Chris, Gap between 54 Deg SW and 50 Deg GW is only about 6 Yards Carry, so having the 50 Deg Strenghened by 1 Deg on Wednesday, to hopefully smooth out the gapping between SW, GW & PW.

      So important, the numbers or lofts are obviously a guide, but it’s all about the actual distances and ensuring they are well spaced

    Chris, if your gapping is 54 and 58 why don’t more people use a 62. 50 seems to be the cap on what degree wedge people go down to?

    Thanks Chris. Can you describe you swing with the wedges please. Are you steep, circa -6 to -8 degrees AoA or shallow circa -3 degrees. Do you take deep or shallow divots. Also, with the change in shaft for the 50* wedge, did it feel significantly different on full swings to the pitching wedge with your iron shaft?

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, generally I’m pretty steep with my wedges like the rest of my game, so a full ish wedge shot I’d be around the -6 to -8 range. As I get closer I tend to be a lot shallower than that but will depend on the shot
