    I forgot all about the gold carts. BotW would have made an awesome tiny gold cart. Cool bowling Brelston.

    Great video Brett. Always nice to hear you regale about how you saw that golden cartridge for the the first time at your friend's house. My personal favorite is when you conpare it to Lisa seeing all of Allison's trophies for the first time in "Lisa's Rival".

    Wow, those gold cartridges were amazing. They were so amazing and special , and when you played the game, it lived up to the look. I mean, Zelda was always considered like a great masterpiece , even when I was a kid. The ultimate adventure , the ultimate fantasy! Lol

    The Gold Mario Amiibo was a tie-in to NSMB2 for 3DS, which had a golden flower that would turn Mario gold like the Amiibo.

    • @jackson5116
      @jackson5116 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, a game that came out in 2012 was tied into an amiibo that came out in 2015, instead of the Mario Party 10 cold covering Mario got in the game? Yeah, oooookay, if you say so

    I rented a chrome silver looking zelda 1 before back in the 80s and the cart was in excellent condition. Not a single mar or fading of any kind, Smooth appeared to be original paint. We rented both zeldas and I remember distintcly that zelda 2 was gold color and that it was interesting that the two games were different colors. As a kid, I thought that was awesome. Never seen another silver one again. When I try to find zelda 1 now, all I ever find is gold. Then I'm like why are they both gold?

    The fact that TLoZ and BotW are polar opposites carries symbolic meaning, which cannot be understated when talking about Japanese creative media. Why gold for the western market then? Because that transcends the symbolism of the east and west with the help of alchemy.
    TLoZ has an outright invitation to go on a relatively straightforward journey to find the golden treasure (Triforce). Of course, as the games went on (and filled in the backstory with ALttP and then OoT), it came to become a lot more complicated.
    BotW has an amnesiac protagonist who has no clue about its significance. He's not looking for the Triforce, he's simply trying to figure out who he is, which is probably why he spends so much of the game wearing Blue, a color that before he had only been associated with when living a life of blissful ignorance on an island in Wind Waker. Take a look at the art for BotW and the game itself - three colours are prominent - Red (frequently stylized as orange because that's also appropriate for fire symbolism), Blue and Green - the colours of the GOLDEN Goddesses.

    Oh my gosh?? Im glad im not the only one who was bothered by this! Every zelda cartridge or disc deserves to be in gold! You also should have mentioned that pokemon black and white, black and white 2 got black cartridges, and they were the only DS cartridges to have a different color.

    Zelda was a marketing strategy. They intentionally did that. The first time I saw zelda was at a family friends house. They had a nintendo and out of all the grey catridges. There was one shining glowing thing that stood out. It was Zelda in Gold. as a 6 year old I didnt care what the game was about. I just wanted to play it because it was the only Gold cartidge. Nintendo literally did a willywonka golden ticket on the american audience. But yeah this guy is telling the truth. Gold was the main marketing to zelda. And no cartridge had a gold cartidge.
