Wow, how impeccable, my grandparents bought that car new , the one before that was a Chrysler Newport, it was a 70 or 71, grandpa always paid cash for his vehicles, but they weren't like buying a house back then, thanks for the memories, grandpa is gone, grandma is 95 , have a great day !
My dad had this exact car, bought in '79. Had an 8 track player and it felt like you were riding on clouds. Steering feel was nonexistent like you were navigating a boat. Good times.
I love this guy - he's knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and real. The best part of his video's is when he says, "the guys take apart the brakes and make sure everything's in good working order". Great representative for Vanguard and great salesman!
My uncle had one in dove gray with leather interior. I rode in it one time and it was a memorable experience, one of the last really big American luxury cars.
Yes exactly that 460 was excellent, 79 they took away 460 and left us the 400 2bbl . No power period, 78 last year of the true Lincolns. In my very amatuer opinion.
'79 Lincoln was the last true full size American luxury car. So to send it off with a bang, they offered the Town Car and Mark V Collectors Series. Choice of blue or white.
Yeah, and that's when we had paper grocery bags... that stood up. Imagine the mess when you got home after putting 15 of those full plastic bags in there.
I remember my Grandmother had some humongous 70s Chrysler that obviously didn't fit in her garage so they had this custom made rubber flap attached to the bottom of the door and only pulled it down about 1/2 way. If you knew how particular she was I'd pity the guy installing it to her specifications.
Timothy, if it was a Town Car, it would have 1.) Front vent windows 2.) Script markings on front fenders. 3.) Leather pillow seats were optional for Town Cars. This model came with some town car options, such as the pillow seats and the sunroof. Sweet ride nevertheless!!
Actually all you guys are wrong! This particular model is a Lincoln Continental. But its the Collector's Series model which was only available in 1979 to commemorate the end of the full size Lincolns. The Lincoln Continental was made in 4 different models. You had the Continental which is what this model happens to be. The Continental Town Car which was more heavily optioned than the Continental plus it has these oval opera windows behind the rear doors. Then there was the Continental Town Coupe which was a 2 door version of the Town Car and it had rectangular opera windows instead of the oval ones. And finally the Continental Mark V which was a sportier 2 door coupe but still a huge car. This is the car Jock Ewing drove in "Dallas." The Continental Mark V was also available in the Collector's Series in 1979. In 1980 Lincoln separated the Continental and the Town Car into 2 separate and distinct models.
That steering wheel is an insult to this Lincoln standard Ford steering wheel that wheel was in F 150s and basic LTDs This car is suppose to be the flagship of the fleet and they cheeped out ??????
the cloth seats were a option and costs more than leather . leather was standard in this Collectors Series .I have this exact car mine has leather . My wife love the cloth
@@kenney8656 Right, you were considered richer the more luxurious the "velour" was in your car. I think then people equated leather to pretty much having vinyl seats.
Rob K and Joe McCarthy are right. Leather was standard in Cadillacs and Lincolns. Cloth was a more expensive option. Personally, I can't STAND leather car seats. Too hot in summer, too cold in winter. As I have had Cadillac's or Lincoln's since college, there is nothing like the ride in one of these luxury cars with all that luxurious cloth. Its like riding in your living room while sitting in your favorite chair. But yet, some people DO prefer leather sofas and chairs. But not me. Today you can't even special order cloth in a Lincoln or Cadillac. But yet, Cadillac's haven't been Cadillac's since 2000. They just kept the name when GM rebranded the line.
I agree, the other color choice was white. I didn’t care for either, would prefer black. Every once in a while I’ve seen these old Lincoln’s without a vinyl roof, they look very special.
This was the Collectors Series. It was only made in 1979 to commemorate the last year of the big full size Lincoln's before the downsizing. It only came with that blue interior. In leather or cloth. Of course you could still get a regular Town Car with the little opera window on the side. You could get black cloth interior in that one!
Thanks for watching! Don't forget to like the video and make sure to subscribe to our channel to see more cars like this in the future!
I'm younger than yall but love these Cars

Absolutely beautiful car 😍. I rode in one of these in 1979 from the airport to my home,. Most comfortable 70. Mile ride I ever had 👍.
My uncle had one in dove gray with leather interior. I rode in it one time and it was a memorable experience, one of the last really big American luxury cars.
I've owned 2 of these a 78 with a 460 and 79 with a 400.. ill take the 78..love 460s

My father had a 78 with the 460 grey with maroon interior. That thing was huge!
I am definitely going to buy this model of car when I am 16

I miss my “Connie”. She was my collectors series I had back in 10th grade. 😥😥
I had the same car in hs. Loved her
Now that’s a full size sedan, the only car that was slightly longer in length was the 1973 Imperial Le Baron sedan/coupe
Also the 74-76 Fleetwood brougham, Talisman, and 75
@@anthonywilson3846 VERY true. I have a '76 Fleetwood Brougham!
What about the 1975 Buick Electra 225? It measured. It measured 233.7 inches
You can still buy the dual banded white wall tires from DIAMOND BACK TIRES
Holy...
What a beauty!
I like to drive it in Germany❤️😍
Love them Lincoln's and continintals
A car with presence... :-)
More room in the trunk than most pickups have today
Yeah, and that's when we had paper grocery bags... that stood up. Imagine the mess when you got home after putting 15 of those full plastic bags in there.
@@robk9685 paper bags seem to be making a comeback, I don't think large trunks are though
Greg is actually driving slow enough that we can read the signs on the other businesses.
Where'd you get that car...a museum?!. Magnificent!.
I'm willing to bet subscribing to Hoovie's garage got me here.

It’s a Stately home on wheels!
My brother has a 1977 Lincoln Continental with 70,000 original km on it.
Nice car. Always fresh painted oil pan😁
Nice, but my Dream is a 79 Continental Willamsburg with full vinyl roof, opera window, cloth interieur, astroroof
One of those where the front end arrives 20 minutes before the rest of the car
Very Nice Classic!
I saw one of these being used as a taxi in Dallas in 1979 😆

Thats a BEAST . LOVE IT
This is another car im interested in .😮
I like the the for door this is one of them
Nice car but it wouldn’t fit in my garage if I was interested in a car like that
I remember my Grandmother had some humongous 70s Chrysler that obviously didn't fit in her garage so they had this custom made rubber flap attached to the bottom of the door and only pulled it down about 1/2 way. It wouldn't fit in mine either. I'd put it under a custom made all weather cover!
Awesome. Is it possible something could be put in it to charge a cell phone or an Ipod ?
That thang barely fits on the carousel!!!!
I know a lot of Brothas around here that would love to have that land yacht
what brand of tires are you using????
I thought it was a Towncar , how do you tell them apart ? I also thought the Continental was a 2 door .

A Collectors Edition with cloth seats?
I know, right?
In the 70’s velour was very popular in luxury vehicles, even RR sported velour interiors.
