I have the latest drivers and I have an RX 6800, no option in my drivers for AFMF
Lol amd fmf not supported vulkan and open cl, only direct x
@@servideione2530 Some games support it and I tested it out myself with the latest drivers...games run smooth
Honestly, turning on AFMF has little effect on the smoothness of the picture if fps is below 60, although AMD's built-in overlay says fps is above 80
Do you think it's because you're running off driver level. I imagine it will be alot better once they start implementing through each game where they can really dial it in to lower frame times and add vsync, vrr etc
It's actually tough to feel the difference bw 60+ and 120 hrz.jump from 30 to 60 is the most significant jump.
its really easy to notice 60 hz vs 120hz... even between 240hz and 560hz@@drsmile128
Keep in mind that it's still in Beta, and not officially released. For these early stages of development it is pretty impressive although it has it's issues. I really wish they enable Anti-Lag+ for the 6000 series, then we will have far better expirience.
Yeah, that's why AMD recommends that the fps must be above 70 frames. In fact, I'm currently playing the Witcher 3 wit AFMF, and my base fps are over 90, and the game feels smoother. So yeah, the technology is useless if the fps are under 50
AMD says the frame time is fine and those jittery graphs are supposed to look like that but I don't think the frame pacing is great with AFMF enabled. Starfield becomes much more nauseating to me with it on.
I agree with you.Because the setting itself is wonderful. It would be nice if we could adjust the % to adjust the amount.
Once they work out the kinks, this will be an amazing boost for all users. However, as it stands, it's okay, but not great by any means.
Wow with this tech, now you can even turn on RT. Your Red Dead run was using the Vulcan API and maybe thats why there was no difference in fps...
Yeah. True
RT too?? Try it dude! Try with 6900xt and you will see the biggest garbage image quality of ever. This software blur all image. Is not like FG of nvidia on RTX 4000. Read some comment of peoples. It's not good this AFMF/FSR3
@@OmnianMIU Dude you are forgetting a few things, Its In BETA, its free for Nvidia and Amd users. I would expect Nvidia to have all the best bells & whistles but man are you paying for it. Also Nvidia have 80% of the market, I think its great Amd even continues and puts stuff like this out. Credit were Credit is due.
@@Nite-Lite-Gamers sorry but, is too much 580$ for you? With this budget you can get a 4070 and thats enought for all of this tech in qhd at 100fps+ in all games. Is not enough for you this? I laugh a lot when you say "you must pay for that", i'm sorry dude but do amd give a present to you when you buy radeon gpu? I don't think so
@@Nite-Lite-Gamers about fsr no comment buddy, this is a software in beta and launch terrible because this software doesn't work properly,! It doesn't give the smoothness like when you have too mach fps, because the frame time and latency will increase, but with a lot of spikes; another problem is quality of image, that become terrible. You must don't believe that it will become better with updates because the implementation of FG, like FSR upscaler, is only software and it will never be like DLSS, this is a reality! DLSS work on tensor cores (neural engine of the nvidia's chips). FSR3 for now is only garbage and it will be remain like this or so
Muy bien rendimiento, se merece probarlo,
Sorry do you have to do the exact same thing in AMD software where you have to enable HYPR-RX and escalate the resolution or you set the resolution to whatever you want and then active FMF?¿ Or there are two different technologies?
There are 2 different technologies.
I'm curious does the card use less power, if we lock the game to 120 fps while it goes to 150ish when using fluid motion?
Can i use the beta driver or is my warranty gone after testing AFMF? 🙂
Is afmf available for rtx 4000 series cards? I also have a ryzen 7 7700x if that helps
actually need to test with the games with extremly high load which may only 20 fps at that use case, to see there is any significant improve when open or off
At 6:10 it makes no difference in Red Dead because it's running on Vulkan, while currently AFMF only supports Direct X11 and Direct X12.
Came here to comment this
RD has a dx12 option u know.
@@crazyforblues1967 vulkan>dx
It's a shame you can.t cap the FPS with fluid frames instead it seems to run uncapped. If you could have a locked 60 FPS from 40 that would lessen out the screen tearing
can it like using rtss lock it to 50 and turn on afmf get 100 fps can the tecnology work like that?
Is it actually smooth while playing?
The problem in my opinion is how the tech is being disabled when the motion is fast, like in FPS-games controlled with a mouse... The times when you actually could enjoy the smoothness. But I could see demanding racing/simulator games making use of it, as well as isometric games like Baldur's Gate 3 in part3, where it becomes quite CPU-demanding.
My 6700xt doesn't like afmf, if my fps is below 60, like 45, once I enable afmf fps goes to ~80. But it looks awful, input lag isn't bad, but it just looks soo bad, that even 45fps on their own look better than with afmf. If the fps is above 60, I can't see a difference.
Yeah, same with me, once the game is below 70 fps, it's not worth. I have the same graphic as you, and I can play games like the Witcher in 1440p 80fps, so I use AFMF to double tomhose fps, and the experience improves very much.
Is 6700xt good for 2k or i should get 7700 or 7800 xt
That's really just how frame generation is though. When there's a lot more motion between frames (e.g the framerate is low) it's very difficult for the AI to predict which parts of the image will end up where so it becomes a mess. I believe it works a similar way with NVIDIA's frame gen in DLSS 3 and they even recommended you don't use it below 60fps because of that very reason. With some development it might improve a bit but I imagine it's always gonna be rough to use at lower framerates.
I know, right? That was my exact experience with Starfield, running on my MSI Mech II OC 6750 XT. The FPS was high, but it felt chuggy, like it was in the 40s in certain areas and the screen tearing was really bad. I'm glad I updated to AMD's newest driver that was released yesterday so it doesn't even have the option to enable FMF anymore in the Adrenaline Software. Maybe they just shelved the idea.....hopefully!
@laki13ful well, 7800xt is a LOT faster. If you have the budget, get that one. 6700xt is pretty good for 1440p. It can still run even the most intensive games at at least 1440p60 high settings.
Any ideia of when its gona come to rx 6000m?
Hello, I have RX 6600 and I tried it with the preview latest AMD driver, and it seems like I can't see any difference...Like those FPS are fake or something...
I tried it on Far Cry 5 and Horizon Zero Dawn and some other games too...
I am running MSI afterburner and running overlay AMD to see the FPS, there's a big difference in FPS but in-game it feels like MSI afterburner is the right one once it comes to FPS...How I can fix that?
Does anybody know when this is released?
This is so important for Starfield. i wish they would jjust post a date when its released
It didn't do didly squat for me on Starfield, honestly. I updated to AMD's newest driver released yesterday and it thankfully took away my ability to even enable fluid motion frames. Like, it was showing a lot higher FPS numbers when I turned on the performance overlay, but it actually felt like what my steam FPS counter was showing, which was in the 40s or so in certain areas. Also, the screen tearing was awfully bad. It couldn't be used with Vsync either.
@@SalandFindles Well for starfield frame rate isnt an issue for me. Im getting 70-90 frames easy with 7700 XT, but I wish i can have more stable frame time. Its very stuttery in big cities. its still showing 60 frames at the lowest but it doesnt feel smooth for some reason. I just hope its the game, im using a 5800X3D ffs lol
@@Ladioz try frame capping bro it will fix it to some extent may be at 60 or 45?
@@thishallakshan7410 I capped the frames in AMD radeon chill. 60-65
You can use this on every game?
In my experience, with an RX 6600, playing on 1080p, and the beta driver:
-It only looks good for situations where your GPU already can handle 60 fps and above, so AFMF doubles it, either on slow paced scenes or with your camera on idle.
-Any thing below real 60 fps, with the camera moving, looks nauseous, blurry, and the image quality is as if the game was rendering on a lower resolution.
-Input lag is horrible, even on cinematic games, playing with a controller, feels like its 40 fps when it shows as 120 fake fps.
-Not good for games with CPU bottleneck or problems with optimization either, if it dips bellow 60 fps on some situations, it feels much worse than if AFMF where disabled.
I hope it can be better implemented in the future, though.
Tried the new version from October 13th, and the blurriness seems to have been mitigated. Still, not worth it, due to everything thing else, listed above.
Everyone has the same issue where they get high fps but they don't actually feel it. The generated frames are not being displayed? Something's wrong.
The recommendation is, 1080p natively the game has to go above 55fps, 1440p and 4k max by 70fps natively
Now with the official Driver Update I can refer to your tests.
In every games I tested with the 6750XT, I could halfe the input latency (surprised, thought It will be much higher) and Iam able to double FPS in 2k and also be able to play at 4k. Suddenly my 6750XT turned into a high-end GPU. I can't see any difference in the quality.. maybe if I make Screenshots, but not in real action.
One strange exception: Crysis 2. No matter which resolution or graphic settings I use, I reach around 60 FPS. With activated Fluid Motion around 80 FPS. But nothing feels smooth. Rly strange in this game
Is still work on 1080p?
hows the performance improvement on those games which gets 60 to 70 fps natively ???
Here it is very good when I lock at 60, it really feels like 120 frames, but when you move the camera suddenly the feeling of 60 returns

This fps increase function does not work, other monitoring will show a different value, and AMD monitoring does not show it correctly. On the 6900xt I was convinced that this function did not work.
It's just frame interpolation-not an actual boost. If you get under 60fps, then it's still going to look like sub 60 at with more frames. I think NVidia's hardware solution is much better combined with DLSS.
