I fitted Pole Positions to my 996, totally changed the driving dynamic of the car coupled with a smaller Momo steering wheel, best thing I have bought for my car. I appreciate the PP weren’t for you not being back adjustable, great choice you made though and they look great in the car.
Really good video! I had Recaro‘s in my LR Defender already and have now decided for the Classic Pole Position seats for my 993. They are currently being installed. 7kg each without sidemount and baseframe (not sure which models my mechanic has chosen - aluminium (1.1) vs steel (2.6 -3.3 kg) … I read that an original seat weighs around 70 lbs
Not a Porshce owner but just seeing good footage of the CS was helpful for a friend, then I watched it and liked the overview. Good stuff with the seat!
What a fantastic video. Really appreciate the detailed thought and the relatable feedback given in these videos. Really love those blue insert seats you tried out, that said, the new Recaro Sportsters are really a cut above.
Great video as always Will. I agree with you on the seats they give you more confidence when pushing the car a little bit. They also look very nice in your car. Plus anytime you can drop 70+ lbs you will feel this as you drive. Thanks.
I think the seats look good in the car. The side adjustment rubbing against the carpet would probably bug me a little. The other issue for me would be the ingress and egress. I'm 58 so getting in and out of the car is starting to get more challenging. I'm just getting old, lol! I have sat in similar sports seats and I do like how they feel once you are in them. Bottom line is, if you like them, that's what's important. I kinda dug your old seats with the plaid inserts, but that's just me.
I thought the rubbing would bother me at first but I have become more of a “function over form” guy. I spent 600 miles in these seats at a rally I attended right after I shot this video and the seats made the driving so much more fun…so a little rubbing is worth it.
What material choice did you make? Nardo or leather? Is that the gray suede insert? Trying to decide the combo for my Arctic Silver 997. Enjoy your vids. Thanks!
For sure. This was a casual drive for the video’s sake. I scoot forward when I’m driving with intent. On another note, I’m glad you commented. If you’re still interested in joining our drive/meet up in Raleigh, can you please send me an email at therennthusiast@gmail.com?
Great seats I've got them in my Renault R27 F1........command big money but worth every penny / cent........silicone trim spay WD40 will sort the set belt squeak
Did you ever consider the ergomed? Or any of the other newer recaro series such as the RPSP/recaro c? Also severe please suffer from back pain, I’m only in my late 20s.. and have a 987.1.
I believe everything I needed came with the bracket kit. I did have to mod the rear hole in the bracket to line up with the factory seat mounting points.
In a previous 993 update video, you seemed unhappy with your Dassport roll bar. I have a 95 993 and want to put Sportster CS seats in it. Did you remove the roll bar before moving to these seats? With the CS's reclining function, do you believe the bar would considerably restrict the reclining angle?
Hi Will. I just bought Recaro CS and I think they’re probably the best aftermarket seat choice you can make. Could I ask you what’s a part number for your Recaro slide rails? There’re quite a few to choose from. Regards , Thor
These Recaros look perfect in your 993, totally nailed it. Would you recommend these for the 86 Carrera? i am considering these seats for my 87 with tan interior. Thanks Wil
Just this week I installed these seats into my 964. It was a tight fit for sure - just like in the 993. I was explicitly not impressed with the weight of the seat including the Recaro console for the 964. In total, one seat weights 48,5 lbs. A saving of below 9 lbs per seat.
@@Rennthusiast I guess it depends on the console you use. I used the bespoke Recaro console for the 964, which is 14 lbs per seat! Too heavy for my taste.
Hi Guys, I'm looking at CS's for my 964 and wanted to ask if the style suits the era once they've been installed. I can see the 993 pulls it off but wondering your thoughts on that Will having both cars to compare. Thanks
I know some guys do it but in my view they are a little too modern for the 964 look. That said, depends on the intent of your car. Looking to drive it hard? Go for it!
Thanks for the video. How did you mount the seat belt receptacle? Did you bend the metal? The brackets I have for my cs have the wide mount and the 996 receptacle is straight. Factory 993 ones are also. Any info would be appreciated. ((My last step during install))
i love these seat and just purchased a set for my own 993. I just wanted to ask, what you would recommend if you need the seat to be higher for better visibility for shorter people.
Thanks so much for posting this, as you say there is not much info available. I have a set to put into my 993 C4S, together with Recaro sliders, and the Cantrell adj knob, but have had a hard time getting them to it. Perhaps I can pm you for some installation tips? Been driving me crazy trying to get them in.
What happend to your RS steering wheel ? . After your top 6 mods video I upgraded my 993 with 4 of them. The turbo bumper and steering wheel remains. 😅🎉
Would you mind sharing your height as a reference? I find the height of the backrest in most aftermarket seats are too short, with top of the headrest lower the the driver's head. Imo, this looks awful, like a kids seat.
The EXACT review I was looking for - thanks!
Helpful review, thanks. I'm putting the heated version of these in my '05 MINI. (BTW, the clack your door makes when you close it at 5:16 is awesome.)
I don’t own a 993 (but have had a number of other Porsches) and think these look perfect in your car ! Good choice

Thank you. Seats, steering wheel and shifter are great ways to transform the 911 without having to do radical surgery.

I would believe it. I didn’t have the chance to research it before publishing the video so thanks for sharing.
@@Rennthusiast I will send the exact weight once I have put mine on the scale

Thanks for the video. Looking to buy these for my latest E46 M3 build. Like you said, not a ton of good videos on these. This helped.
You’ll love them. I have.
Thx for the good video! I installed them in my 964 and I am very happy. Thx.
You’re welcome. They’re killer seats. Just so good.

Recaro Seats are so clean.
Those seats look fantastic!!!
Do they give more room for adolescents in the back seats? Looking for custom seats due to to fact my kid is 13 and growing fast.
What material choice did you make? Nardo or leather? Is that the gray suede insert? Trying to decide the combo for my Arctic Silver 997. Enjoy your vids. Thanks!
It had the suede insert and the factory vinyl (?)
Was great for me over many miles until I sold the car.
@@Rennthusiast Excellent. Thank you for the timely response!
Will, why are you sitting so far away from the steering wheel? You could have so much more control if there’s an right angle in your elbow!
Thought the same. Maybe just personal preference.

I believe everything I needed came with the bracket kit.
I did have to mod the rear hole in the bracket to line up with the factory seat mounting points.

Yes, the bar was out before I went with the seats. I do think the Rollbar would restrict a lot of the rearward mobility, but can’t be sure.
Great video. I'm considering sportster cs's for my 993. When your sitting in the seat how is the width compared to stock?
Sorry, just seeing this. Got buried. Seat width is comparable to stock.
how is the height of these seats?
i heard you sit higher in the sportster cs than in the stock ones
Hi Will. I just bought Recaro CS and I think they’re probably the best aftermarket seat choice you can make. Could I ask you what’s a part number for your Recaro slide rails? There’re quite a few to choose from. Regards , Thor
Sorry, not sure. The place I bought them from just included them with the seats and didn’t tell me the parts info.
@@Rennthusiast anyway many thanks! Best wishes

The sportsters won’t fit I don’t think. I put Recaro experts in my 86.

I don’t know. After hauling the seats out of both my 993 and my 964, I feel like these are quite a bit lighter, at least based on effort to lift.

Wow gives it a sporty GT3 look. Great upgrade. Do you sit lower then stock? I'm looking for more leg room and lower feel.
No, they seem to be about at factory height. Maybe a little lower.
Wish they had a set closer to savannah beige
Agreed. I would like to put them in my 993 with cashmere interior.
Been debating these for years on my 993, so this is welcomed. Great looking seats.
those are sick
buttock-clenching Recaros ... as Jay Leno calls them...
What happend to your RS steering wheel ? . After your top 6 mods video I upgraded my 993 with 4 of them. The turbo bumper and steering wheel remains. 😅🎉
I got nostalgic for my old 3 spoke so I swapped back. Love the control of the RS wheel but the 3 spoke is more comfortable for long drives.
Have long considered these for my 964. Prefer the Pole Positions but the fixed back doesn’t work for me.
Exactly. Fixed back seats are great for track only but they don’t work in an all-arounder
@@Rennthusiast especially when shoving camera gear in the back!

5’9”
Those look like the recaro seats in my 370z Nismo
Good choice on the Recaro. Your seating position is far off from a steering wheel.
Yes, I typically scoot up when driving with purpose vs shooting a video,
Are those real leather or vinyl spec?
Vinyl
Do you sit higher or lower in the car?
With these, it feels generally like the same height as stock. These definitely sit lower: th-cam.com/video/2qvAWgWw0Y8/w-d-xo.html
Nope, I'm too fat for those seats! :D Those cars are gorgeous tho! Is that a 996 steering wheel or was that available in the 993 generation?
996 steering wheel 👍🏼
i like em.
Cool glasses ha ha
I get comments about them all the time lol
