Very egocentric interview. Back then, the black audience radio was very hostile to pop music. Very hostile. Look up what happened Whitney Houston. Joanna was and is still a Pop song. It was one of Kool and the Gang's biggest hits, but it does not change what type of song it is. By his own admission, Kool and the Gang changes up its sets in concerts to match its audience taste which include eliminating some of the earlier blacker songs from their set. So why can't a radio Station Manager have the same autonomy to decide to choose type of music their core audience likes hear? So if he came to the black radio station with a heavy metal song, do you think the station should be obligated play that song on black radio? I don't think so. Even back then, there were spaces available for a song like Joanna which was written by a black artist to be nurtured and grow into the song that it became. There was no need to be hurt. It was simply business.

Why does he keep interrupting JT? We want to hear JT not Quest.
I used to think JT was named Kool😂
Solo career was subpar at best. Should have stayed in the group.
i thought he died????
God just ask the 1 question and speak straight up.. don't pussyfoot around it .. he got the big head and had 1 or 2 solo hits ..
