Ooooh!! Been waiting for this one!!! Those K series need baffles set up in the oil pan to ensure against oil starvation. Be a good thing to address when you are planning out how that thing is going to sit in the frame.
Glad to see this! I've been curious about that 959 lookalike since I began watching your videos, and I'm fully onboard with the Honda engine and the Dakar-inspired theme of this build: on a project like this, turning up the crazy dial to 11 is the best way to go!
We have something a bit more bespoke planned. We have stepped back for a moment on this build. We pushed our twin turbo Ferrari and Fast and Furious Charger ahead of it. We are still waiting for our transmission to be built. Lots of one off parts are needed.
Allo! We are still working locally to find a company to take on the plastic panels needed on the inside door cards to complete this project. We have had two companies fall through so far. It's frustrating but it's all part of it. Since we changed the panels from full fiberglass ones last minute we didn't plan for the time needed to work with someone to get these panels for us. Thank you for your patience.
@@JustDriven Maybe but hearing a rally Porsche at full tilt in person is something truly visceral, like a cammed out v8 or an E1 Quattro at full tilt. Especially with the anti-lag on the downshift, you guys are going to miss out on something special. Not that I’m opposed to a K series at full tilt, but it’s just my opinion on it having seen some at classic rallies.
We work with Dirt Rich Motors here locally and have had some of their projects at the shop. We can appreciate the build with the original engine but we are looking to do something more wild.
We are waiting on another Porsche to land here at the shop and talking to a client who wants to buy the build from us. So it's on pause for the time being.
It was pushed down the queue of builds. The twin turbo Ferrari build took its place. We still have some major drivetrain parts that need to be created for the build and we are at the mercy of those shops right now.
Yeah gonna ruin what could be an amazing 959 replica with another overused K series swap. Corvettes, NSXs, Foxbodies, and many many cars already been Honda swapped. Just make it properly and put a modern turbo Flat 6.
It's still a 4 cylinder Honda at the end of the day. Every time you start it up, you won't hear a turbo Flat 6 like the ones that raced for decades, you'll hear a common tuned K series Honda. It's not different when 60% of automotive building TH-camrs have done it, just like the LS swap fever 5-10 years ago. No hate, just dissapointment because you guys are building a gorgeous car. Have a good one and best wishes for this build, still.@@JustDriven
Thank you! We respect the flat six love. The sound of a Honda Accord and a GT3 are not the same by any stretch. But just doing a restoration on a Carrera fitted with 959 bodywork doesn't seem to suit the build. A Frankenstein's monster deserves something a little more strange and little more wild. Thanks for the comment!

Exactly. Any vehicle we plan to toss around!

Already getting hate mail on this one. We knew we would! Thank you for the support though!
This is going to really cool can’t wait to see when it’s done! 😁
We hope to impress all those with an open mind.
Never did i think i would see a k swapped 959, you'll have to race this against the k swapped 308. Subscribed.
Wow! Thanks for the sub and the support. Yah, this is a slow moving project but it's going to be a fun one!
Great video and a great project. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
959 kit car... $$$
Rally build... $$$
Boosted Honda engine... $$$
Badass machine... PRICELESS
haha....Yah, and loads of crazy.
love to see a awd replica kit, or a company like FACTORY 5 building a kit using the Nissan GTR

What is happening with the Toyota FJ Cruiser Buddy Window system?

@@JustDriven Thanks for the response. I'm admin of a dozen Australian FJ Cruiser groups, so please keep me up to date with any progress. Cheers
do you guys build cars for customers aswell ???
We currently do not build for any clients.
Just listen to that flat six and you want to get rid of it? Absolute waste of a great race soundtrack 😢
It won't be a waste. Someone will surely make it something special.

@@JustDriven fair enough I’ll watch the rest of the series to see what it sounds like 👍
You'd have to search out Dirt Rich on IG I believe to hear it.
Any updates on this?

Dakar inspiration?
Exactly.
But isn't that in fact...a comment?
😉

This is not the same sort of K you're thinking. And we are looking to do something different.
