As a boy I watched Jacky drive the Paris-Dakar and I stayed up late watching Le Mans coverage on tv. Today I drive my 997 Carrera S on track days and my Macan GTS daily and I enjoy every special minute behind the wheel and in the garage staring at the cars I’ve worked so hard to own. Porsche is such a special brand.
So cool for Jacky to continually call out and praise the “rest of the iceberg” responsible for the success. 👏🏼👏🏼. Incredible car, incredible effort. Wonderful to revisit. Thank you Porsche for this series.
Great conclusion to the series - really special to see Jacky reconnected with the car and hear his recognition of everyone behind the project so many decades ago. Very emotional experience even to watch
"Porsche paving the way for others to follow". And to think this was done in the early to mid '80's. This, and Porsche's other achievements (e.g. Le Mans), make this truely the best sports car maker. And to have Jacky behind the wheel again is magical, serious talent! Thank You Porsche for this 6 series of Porshce 959 Dakar. Really enjoyed it! Much Memories, Emotion and Passion. Every day for me!
It’s the only time I’ve seen one running I remember the beautiful Tamiya RC cars models that were sold in these colours so it brings back great memories
Schönes Spielzeug 👍 Jacky ist eine Legende finde es super das er das frühere Team auch mit einbezieht. 230 km/h in der Wüste ist schon der Oberhammer 🤓 selbst heute noch👌. So ein Steinbruch ist schon ne schöne Spielwiese, Boxer Turbo Allrad kenn ich von Subaru. Auch das hat mich fasziniert das Zusammenspiel der Technik 🤩.
Amazing, Beautiful and Iconic car. I remember being a child seeing the photos in magazins and keep trying to draw it over and over again. Porsche is just something out of this world. Mr. Ickx is so selfless honouring all the people behind the success, these are the merits of a great man.
Super content! So nice to see Jakcy Ickx telling his insight story, about those inspiring achievements from those days. Since I got fortunate own and drive 2. 911 964C4's. I must say that driving those cars on snow where a dream come true! as close as I got experiencing similar feelings. The only limitation in deep snow was the visibility issue while driving literally under the powder.
Now that you have such a good understanding of the 959 P-D race cars, it would be amazing to see you put together a truely accurate replica and have someone run it in the Dakar Classic.
This was a GREAT series, especially with Jacky now driving the car. I understand that music was the obvious choice to put for the edit, but PLEASE, let us have a raw clip of the sound of it when driven by Jacky, maybe with an onboard camera showing a bit of driving, for us, the enthusiasts as an epilogue of sorts!

Ihr glaubt ja garnicht was das ausmacht an PS/24h . Vollverbrennungsadditive und Octanzusätze bringen auch schon was ! Jacky weis was meine ! Die guten bewährten kathalytischen Keramik Konverter packen sowas !:) So im snow is das Lichtchen leise und auch weiß io ;)

I have the Carisma RC version of this car. It is a blast for off road rallying. The Tamia version is a shelf queen. IMO not that good at off road. Thanks for this I loved watching them back in the day on ABC's Wide World of Sports.

All of this hype around a car that you can't buy even if you have the money and the token Porsche trade-ins. Most owners will never use the Dakar off road; I would, I'm just not paying over sticker so it will be a while for me.
This is about a 80is era 959 rally car and not the current Dakar 911. It might be part of the marketing campaign, but that is about all. And yes, you cannot buy a 959 rally car :-) You can buy a "regular" 959 given enough funds. No tokens required.

Every drive in my 2019 911 C4S is an adventure. I’m just a caretaker of it till it’s next owner. Hopefully many years from now.
