Good video. Had a setup like that for years. One thing I would add is a passive cooling pad for the laptop as with the lid closed it helps the cooling.
Great video. Inspired me to hook up my work laptop to my big private PC with a large monitor with a kvm switch. Now I need to go further and hook up a dock to the laptop just to to avoid having to inset power, hdmi an USB cables every time!
Just add a wireless mouse and keyboard and monitor and there should be a button that You can use to switch from the laptops lid to the montor and You have yourself a Desktop computer. i did that for years
Well, this method gives you the freedom to easily take your laptop with you, limiting all the devices being plugged into it. But, yes, you can do it that way too.
If I take the laptop apart, can I shove the motherboard into a tower? When I'm out and about I just use a Chromebook. So I don't need the laptop. The Crome works just fine. It's easier to clean a tower than a laptop. It takes forever for disassembly and reassembly. Take care.
Hey, yes a few. But I'm letting everyone know what's going on. Until we know for sure what Microsoft is going to do with the hardware requirements, I'm making sure my customers know what I know.
I used hdmi to hook my laptop to my TV and put it on the setting to have separate screens. I can press a button to turn the light of my laptop screen off. But I have an old dell desktop and would like to know if I can use it with my laptop.
Are there any options for the power ON/OFF without pressing laptop's power switch? I don;t want to open laptop every time for turn on the computer? Anybody can suggest me please ?
Thanks ! Question: do I need a docking station if I plan on keeping this arrangement more permanently? Or could I just hdmi out to the monitor directly?

Question: With the laptop closed, can you turn it on and off from the keyboard/screen?
did u fins the ans?
Just click the start icon in the lower left side of the Windows screen, click the power button on the screen that comes up and, select Shutdown.
Do I need a docking station or can a do it without it
Dale didn't the laptop have an hdmi port so you could go from laptop to monitor and skip the dock?
If my laptop has HDMI out and enough USB ports to support keyboard/mouse, why would I want the docking port?
Well, this method gives you the freedom to easily take your laptop with you, limiting all the devices being plugged into it. But, yes, you can do it that way too.
Does using a docking station put less stress on the laptop vs just plugging laptop directly into monitor with hdmi cable?
No, inputs/outputs have no effect on performance.
Thanks for the video man. Now I don't gotta but another PC.

That usb-c port on the laptop is a "display out" port
A good solution for a broken hinge 😅
Is it reversable

AN UNREALEASED ASUS DUO?
Using a laptop as a 8k monitor is weird but fun
Pov: me with monitor that supports HDMI and A laptop that can use HDMI to display the screen ,🤑🤑🤑🤑😎😎😎😎😎
If you're using a laptop with high specs, don't do this. For cooling you should use the laptop with the screen open.
Can you explain more
Yes pls do explain
Depends, where is your laptop getting or blowing out air from. If it's using top of the keyboard yeah you need to open it a little
Unless your cooling is from the sides.
Only the cool kids are early.
