"The andor of marvel universe" IDK what's the context behind that statement, but Andor was probably one of the best star wars content from recent years. So it's like saying Secret invasion is as good as andor OR Secret Invasion is as bad as Andor, in which BOTH STATEMENTS ARE WRONG.
I like the show, but having Rodey be a skrull for a short period of time isn't enough. "Secret Invasion" needs to have a lot more people we trusted actually be skrulls.
Hopefully the Skull plot tread doesn’t end in this show and is carried over into future movies and shows.

I watch the MCU for superhero stuff but when the spies are the main characters it better act like a spy movie.
I’m actually really enjoying the way there doing this show and I’m really liking Gravik as a villain
Yeah, the show is good, but it's not great. A lot of down time, and there isn't really a lot of tension in this supposed spy thriller show. I'm not disinterested in what's happening, there are good things happening in the show, but it's just too slow and about a lot of things that don't feel like they're greatly contributing to the universe of the MCU as of yet.
Its the inherit problem with these shows. It exist because Disney want Marvel content on Disney+. Its didn't NEED to exist (ie built up for years), which tend to be a recipe for an amazing show. The shows also can't be too important because they don't want the movie-only people to be lost. So the end result is these 5-8 out of 10 shows instead of must-see shows.
Idk I don't really dislike anything that's happening in the show, but I'm curious to see how things wrap up before I grading it. Though I guess for me I figured SI was going to be pretty low level box checking so maybe I went in with low expectations.
Yeah, I expected it to be a vehicle for Samuel L. Jackson to do his thing and I haven't been disappointed. Hell, all his scenes with Ben Mendelson have been fantastic!
The reason all these writers are coming out and saying they didn't engage with or even like the original material is because studios will not pick up original ideas. The creator of Power Puff Girls said that the reason the reboot happened was because no network will pick up his newer ideas and the risks associated with running a new IP so he just lazily pitched a Power Puff Girls reboot and they greenlit it immediately.
Because these networks and studios only care about mining nostalgia and using large IPs you are getting writers who don't give a fuck because they aren't working on what they really want to work on. I guarantee that before Henry Caville was cast, The Witcher would only have had a passing resemblance to the books and games. Resident Evil was clearly someone who just wanted to make a post-apocalypse story. Secret Invasion is clearly a xenophobe who wanted to make a spy-thriller.
So what I am saying is, capitalism is ruining the film and television industry.
I don’t have superhero fatigue, just fatigue for mid superhero projects

i just realized. In she hulk there was a literal elf on trial who impersonated a judge and it was played for laughs. whats so different about skrulls if you already have magic users and aliens on the planet. New Asguard could refuge the skrulls and honestly let them be in their on skin.

Just seems like if this wasn't named Secret Invasion then it would be considered a much better show. Got to get over that they used the name and its not the comic. I love it so far, is it the best? No but its really fun. Would I of loved to find out a bunch of avengers are skrulls and all this stuff, yeah would of been really cool but that doesn't mean this isnt also really fun. Really nice to see what Fury's past events and everything that made him the person we know leading into his reveal.

The only chance Agents of SHIELD had to become canon was having Fitzsimmons in the Helicarrier in Age of Ultron. It wouldn't have been distracting, would've been very easy to arrange, and would've been dirt cheap.

Here's my take on Rhodes calling Fury 'Nick'. Rhodes calls him Fury all the way up to firing him. Once he says his speech and then goes onto firing Fury. Thats when he calls him Nick. Like he lost his rank, position, power. Seems like people call him Fury out of respect, and in that moment Rhodes has no respect for him so he calls him Nick. He even calls him Fury immediately after when he has the security gaurd. I don't believe he's a skrull, but it will now be in the back of my head if he does turn out to be one.
I know I am so late in watching this but love the review. I really appreciated @Hasssankhadair saying that he rewrites part of the MCU because I do the same thing. I totally agree with him that a lot of the issues with the show is the groundwork and could be easily changed using previous projects to lay that groundwork.
I do fine it funny when ever a superhero show or movie comes out and see like heavy spoilers or reel rejects review and then be like this was awesome and totally makes this franchise better but then watch theses guys be like this was not good this worse for the franchise and ect. Personally I’m on the loving secret invasion side and I do think besides Loki the best show so far for the mcu! I’m not hating on these guys I love watching them and stuff I just think it’s funny seeing all views of this fandom act about stuff!

I like Secret Invasion so far. We've done comedic repetitive stuff before. Secret Invasion is a good change of pace. Characters like Black Widow, Cap, or Nick Fury are set in or can be set in a spy thriller genre film.
I think one issue the show has, is it was likely supposed to have come out before “the Marvels” trailer came out. And for some reason the release schedule has made things weird

Apparently I guess you should care about Gravik's actor Kingsley Ben-Adir because he going to play Bob Marley in a 2024 biographical film. So if you're a fan a musical biography films then Kingsley Ben-Adir's performance is really going to test you
I would argue Hill dying is the most significant thing her character has done in the mcu. She has never been more than a person we recognize.... Also, i was so bored eoth Agentsof shieldthat u quitrhe show 2 seasons in, so let it die as is. Also, also.... I was on board with your opinions until you wanted more Bree Larson in the mcu. I've already had enough Bree Larson and regret that i know I will end up watching the Marvels as it is. Please leave her out of as much as possible. 😂
Actually hassan skrull shapeshifting is perfect they can literally have kids with humans or any other humiod spieces like once they transform all their parts transform to so 😅 yeah they can do the freaky with any race or spieces also all skrulls since nature of their ability are some degree of bi mabe idk
nick fury is a scrull ... i think at least ... the shot of him coming off the ship feels like someone getting into character
Rhodes in ep 2 did call him "Nick" and if you remember, back in Capt. Marvel with Fury saying that no one calls him by his first name....

Maybe it’s me but I’m taking this show as a setup for future consequences to come in the MCU. Im not looking for it to be concluded in this show. That’s what makes this so great to me. Because going forward we’ll see a lot more superhero stuff involved with the skrulls but now we have context as to how the world got to this state
I am enjoying the show very much. I didn't expect it to be anything else but a vehicle for Samuel L. Jackson and it's delivering that, and some really good acting acting to boot. If it sticks the landing, it will be the first rewatchable D+ show since Loki.
Him and Ben have been DELIVERING fantastic performances.
For me I think with where the Skrulls ended in The Marvels. The movie should have been before Secret Invasions. So the aspect of a faction of Skrulls wanting revenge and the goal to invade Earth would be more understandable. The last time we had real interaction with the Skrulls is the Captain Marvel Movie, where Captain Marvel and the Skrulls left on good terms. Gravik could have been one of Emperor Dro'ge’s Royal Guard so Gravik’s motivations would be clearer because Gravik would have seen first hand the destruction of another home planet.
I've only seen the first 2 episodes, didn't care much, then I remembered "Oh shit! Star Trek Strange New Worlds S2!!!"
Edit: I think I'm one of the ppl that kinda stopped caring much about the MCU post Endgame.
Engagement and interaction with creator to please the mathemagics that choses what gets seen or not.

Isn't the actual Everett Ross in Wakanda? I mean, I only have watched Wakanda Forever once so far due to limited time, so my memory could be off, but I remember him being broken out of federal custody and taken to Wakanda at the end of the film.
Pretty much yeah.
They way they build suspension and tension is great, dialogue is top notch imo.
If it feels a bit off, that's probably a good thing, id imagine that's the intent. It's a very uncanny valley show.

Feel like you guys are nitpicking and jumping to conclusions before the whole thing has even ended. Pretty unfair of you. I love the show- world building, dialouge, twists and turns, acting, teases, adding interesting historty to characters and fleshing them out, details, references and callbacks. And its not even finished yet.
I agree, they talked about the show like they didn't even watch all episodes or they "watch" it but wasn't paying attention. They seem to have different recollection of what happened in each episode.
It may not be a superhero show but it’s an Alien Invasion Spy Thriller which is cool
Marvel already made a fantastic "Secret Invasion-like project", it was Captain America and the Winter Soldier (best Marvel movie). The secrecy, distrust, hush-hush and Nick Fury being THE badass who outsmarts the takeover was everything I wanted out of this series.

It's crazy to me that the Skrulls think that the promise of two Americans, is the burden of 8 billion people. They're so freaking lame for that. They absolutely should've gone closer to the comics.
There's also the matter of Ms Clarke. She's terrible. Every single scene with her is grating and I can't wait for it to end. Much like Julia Dreyfus. They gotta go

There's a reason why the Comic Book industry flaunts the Writters slated for new series. I do not understand how we got HERE. We have Fiege and Gun both claiming to be the largest Comic Book nerds but they some how don't know that Writter's names sell Comic Books sometimes more than the Artists or the Protagonist of the series.
Somehow we reached a point where outside of Ryan Reynolds and James Gun, I doubt Marvel Comic movie/show fans could name a single writter on one of these films. We definitely do not know the names of Writting team members let alone the major lack of knowning who the Lead Writter is for these. This direction in the industry heavily implies why we are seeing the scripts for almost EVERY SINGLE Phase 4 project fall the way side.
I absolutely agree that I believe the Writting talent is what is lacking. The irony of this is that I imagine many Comic Book Writters do have the talent to improve the issue to issue (aka episode to episode) beats to improve the pacing and could massively improve the over all stories to make them feel more impactful and draw the viewers in... a lot easier than in Comic Books because most humans are too lazy to read.
I fell asleep on Episode Three and I woke up realized Captain Marvel had finished auto playing on Disney plus lol 😂

His point was the skrulls look different. The asgardians are essentially Gods which a good chunk of the earth literally worshipped at one point. Everything he said is on point.

The fact that I care more about whether Olivia Coleman's character will win or lose by the end of the season than any of the Skrulls tells you how much time the first three episodes wasted. A slow burn story doesn't matter when there's no compelling conflicts or questions to contemplate as your watching the show.
Watching the Marvel Legends episode for Maria Hill is so sad because she's barely in it. Her own 6 minute thing barely features her, they had to stretch out any scene that even had a glimpse of her in it because she does jack shit in the MCU. I can't believe they actually expected us to care about her death.

For me, the problem with the Disney+ shows is that I just don't care enough about them. Other than the Falcon/Winter Soldier show and Hawkeye, I haven't been interested enough to finish watching any of them.
So the skrulls are stationed in abandoned nuclear power plants. Very harmful to us normal humans, correct? Yet they have a good hand full of humans in those pods. So are we just going to assume they don't have radiation poisoning once they are free?!?! I can't stop laughing at this xD

Marvel loves making movie ideas into series(moon knight)... And series ideas into movies(eternals).... It''s very weird.... .But yeah, this series here... Is VERY, VERY "off"... Nick Fury is WEIRD... The skrulls' motivations are WEIRD (and kinda silly), the characters are weird, it's just really TONALLY "off". Oh and Skrulls can have offspring with: Humans, Kree and Shi'ar according to marvel's wiki.

could it also be this slow is for budget? these slow talking scenes dont cost much to make. maybe disney is trying to cut costs. doesnt excuse it but it might be a reason.
Bullshit, if they can afford Samuel L. Jackson for 6 episodes of television, they could've easily excluded him from the first episode and that would've cleared probably an extra 20% of funding for the entire season.

Gravik is a great villain, and the acting is fucking amazing, amazed they said Samuel L. Jackson was a poor actor
I find it underwhelming. I fee like they should've planned this a lot earlier made it a subtle thing in the phases (speaking in hindsight). Then this is the the climax of the subtlety. The big reveal. Rn it just feels like meh make this happen. It feels odd that it's here. For such a big thing it feels like it has no bearing.
