Being a bibliophile myself, my deepest thanks for presenting this vlog. What a great and varied selection. Remember oxymandias from my o level eng lit, many many decades ago! With you gents permission I’ll pat myself on my back - more then half of selection are in my collection: now to get down to reading them. InshaAllah next in London from Jeddah, would love to meet both of you brothers - this old dog has much to learn from you.

Some of my favorite books: 1- Islam between East and west by Alija Izetbegovic 2- Road to Mecca by Muhammad Asad 3- Kimya e Sadat (The Alchemy of Happiness) by Imam Ghazali 4- Madarij Al Salikin (Ranks of the Divine Seekers) by Ibn Qayyim 5- Les Miserables by Victor Hugo 6- Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam by Muhammad Iqbal (With is Collection of Poems) 7- Islam and Secularism by Syed Naquib Al Attas 8- Ghazali on 99 Beautiful names of Allah by Imam Ghazali 9- A Prophet of Mercy by Hassan Nadawi 10- Between the God of the Proohets and God of the Philosophers by Hatem El-Haj
That is in my TBR. Though Madarij Al Salikin is a commentary on Manzil Al Sairin, I want to read Manazil Al Sairin sepraratey. I am from Afghanistan and I have read other books by Shaykh Al Harawi in Persian. He has a brilliant prose that we rarely find people to write like him. Because of that I want to read it separately.
Gentlemen thank you for sharing such wonderful insights on such a variety of books in such an entertaining way. It was a privilege to listen to you both. With duas.
Hi Mr Paul and Mr Adnan. This is Farid Ahmed , the bookstore guy in Mr Adnan's Bookstore video. After that video many customers turned up and asked for the books recommended in the video. Im really glad that I knew about all of the books that you guys talked about. Because we had them all in our bookstore. We also had oxford book of English poetry that Paul is reading from. Your reviews are very informative and enjoyable. Paul has beautiful style of reciting poetry and reading verse. Mr Adnan also have excellent narrative skills and style. I have thoroughly enjoyed this video and I think you guys should continue with this series. Interestingly, When you mentioned Shelly I guessed that ' Ozimmandias ' would be the poem that you are gonna recite and I was right😊
Great presentation, mash’Allah. By the end of the video, I contemplated the bread crumbs that led to my realization of truth and Islam about 4 decades ago. In high school, we had an in-depth study of Milton’s Paradise Lost. The university introduced me to E Kant and the metaphysics of morals. Finally, I enrolled in a Judeo-Christian heritage course that addressed forgeries and contradictions, which started my search for truth and discovery of Islam. What a paralleled path. The English translation in Yusuf Ali’s work is of great appeal. Maybe because it reflects the same form as in the King James Version of the Bible which I grew up reading. Thank you for this enjoyable video.
MashAllah Brother Adnan Rashid is a walking, talking encyclopaedia when it comes to literature that Muslims need to consider. May Allah (SWT) continue to bless and guide Brother Adnan so that we can benefit from him. Ameen
Brother Adnan and Brother Paul, an intellectual tag team that has inspired me to start picking up books again. I am grateful for all your efforts May Allah grant the both you the highest degree of Jannah for sharing your wealth of knowledge with the world...Truly, thank you!

What a great list from brothers Adnan and Paul. By the way, am reading Muhammad: His Life Based on the Earliest Sources (martin lings) after listening to Paul reading a few chapters on this channel. Thanks Paul!
its very interesting ozymandias was mentioned here after much research i found out it was talking about the egyptian pharoah Ramses the 2nd which has also most famously known to be the pharoah that was drowned by moses and i love that paul actually brought that up what a coincedence paul was spot may allah bless you
Excellent! Thank you both so much for this amazing episode! Two very knowledgeable gentlemen! Concerning Kant's philosophy, two books helped me a lot during my studies of philosophy at the university: the "Prolegomena" and "Dreams of a Visionary". Both books are written by Kant himself. They are definitely much more readable (and shorter) than the "Critic of Pure Reason". Prolegomena is an abridged version Kant wrote for his own students. Dreams of a Visionary is a polemic with Swedenborg's "supernatural" claims. That latter book is definitely the key to understand why Kant needs to ascribe limits to the human mind in the context of the Enlightenment....
Thanks brothers Paul and Adnan for your great recommendations 👍⚘️⚘️ Ozymandias is a Greek corruption of User-Maat-Ra, the throne name of Ramses II (seen by many as the greatest of the ancient Egyptian kings) which passed into early Egyptological literature, Diodorus Siculus identified the Ramesseum as the tomb of Ozymandias (it was actually his mortuary temple), and reports of one of the fallen colossi there later provided some of the inspiration for Shelly's sonnet which you have eloquently read.
Once again Paul, thanks for this discussion. It really allows me to focus on more important things. Especially with the current media frenzy over Salman Rushdie, one can get bogged down with all the attacks on the depiction of Islam. It is better to utilise time on important things, after all life is very short.
Assalamualaikum brother Paul. What a wonderful program!!! I seem I am watching a el classico football match indeed. Amazing performance. I called to Brother Adnan Human Live Library. MasaAllah he has great knowledge in terms of history as well as Islamic terms. May Allah swt bless you both.

It's a good heads-up to aunthentic books of important historical characters, rather than wasting time and money on the wrong books that don't contain the true facts now I can choose the right ones as advised by a honest intelligent person such as Adnan Rashid, thankyou I'm definitely going to start with the first one in Adnans top 10 about Tipu Sultan, then some of the others. Great video as always thankyou.
Abdullah Yousef Ali's translation of the Qur'an is perfect for me because of THOSE FOOTNOTES on the bottom of the pages...it makes you think about what verses you had read. Also the language in English is the old grammar which I like
Salam and respect both of you. Very very important discussion. This episode love all readers. I wish May Allah grant me a vast vast bug library with full of extraordinary books. Thank you brother Paul and brother Adnan
.Number one book recommendatiom being the Quran (translation) Walhamdulillah !! 👌🤲 - The part read from Martin Ling's Biography is wonderful too indeed...The dedication and passiom for reading books in general are truly inspiring 👌🤲....
I also find myself particular about translations of the Koran. The quality of the translation really can make a world of difference in delivering the beauty of the Koran. I will check out Yusuf Ali's translation, for me I heavily recommend AJ Arberry's translation and I consider it my favorite, in my opinion it does a wonderful job of communicating the distinct rythym and melodic essence of the Koran
Servants of Allah, is such a well researched informative book. I loved it. Following this I had to read the Five Classic Muslim Slave Narratives (American Islamic Heritage) Another brilliant book is the Lost Islamic history. Highly recommended.

East India Company also had long lasting impact on south east Asia. Following their busines venture (colonialism), SEA split in to two sphere of influences between the British and the Dutch. Assalam alikom dera Paul brother I really enjoyed this video about different books. I was wondering if you have a plan for the future to write books or not ? If yes In what genres ? Thank you
Assalamu alaikum Paul! How are you? I just wanted to ask, you mentioned that it was the poet Henry Longfellow who mentioned in the Psalms of life "All this world is a fleeting show for mans illusion given." Are you sure that it was not the Irish poet Thomas Moore who wrote that line?
Asalamu Aleikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatu. Dear brothers and sisters, how are you all doing? I hope all is well,Inshallah. I will buy them if i have the money. Inshallah. May Allah(S.W.T) guide us,protect us and make us ambassadors of Islam so we will be the best in conduct in thoughts, words and deeds. Ameen.
I just finished reading Muhammad’s Life.. it’s very exceptional literarily but probably important to add a disclaimer that there are inaccurate information?
Read Ozymandias in school, sonnet written by Percy Shelley, a womanizer and one of his marriages was with Mary Shelley , author of Frankenstein and the Last Man. Shelley died by drowning in 1822 caught in a storm. It was a mutiny of sepoys , not a war of independence
Salam Paul, does Adnan Rashid know about "Travelling Home" by Tim Winter? I'm sure he does but if he doesn't I'd love for you to introduce it to him. There are so many deep sociological and psychological insights that Adnan would benefit from, do you agree? and Gai Eaton is an amazing writer!
Regarding Paul's last book, "Commentary of the Eleventh Contentions" (by Abdal Hakim Murad), Reza Aslan of the University of California and author of “Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth” makes a powerful case for a political activist Jesus.
Who ever watching this masterpiece in 23 please do comment so that reach of this channel grow. It is our duty to give dawah through Sir Mr Pouls great legendary work.
This video is a gem. Couldn't skip a second. Thank you for doing this Paul and Adnan sir. I am filled with inspiration to read more books.

The book of contemplation
Book by Usama ibn Munqidh
Actual name of book.
Wa alaykumu s-salam, it was Longfellow
I got more books than I was promised and I am not complaining
I'd be reading a lot more books if it weren't for Internet at home.
I tried reading the Anarchy, felt like self flaggelation
THANK YOU. Will appreciate to hear your analyses on books by LESLE HAZLETON: THE FIRST MUSLIM and AFTER THE PROPHET.
Regarding Paul's last book, "Commentary of the Eleventh Contentions" (by Abdal Hakim Murad), Reza Aslan of the University of California and author of “Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth” makes a powerful case for a political activist Jesus.
If someone don't mention Dr.Mohammad Hameedullah and his books 📚📚📚,I think the list is incomplete.
Paul, bring Shabbir Yusuf someday.
Salaam only one God and it's Allah SWT love here from South Africa Boksburg pray five times a day
Is it easy for a non-native English speaker to read Gai Eaton's book?
The best book is the book which regards to describe about the prophet Muhammad SAW like what Martin Ling did
