His enthusiasm for his farm and lifestyle is addictive isn't it. Well deserved I'd say. When you're in love with what you do and proud of what you've built, every bug and crawly critter is a gift.
I could not have said it better Brent. Thanks for everything that you have done for us Brent over the years. I'm glad your sheep and guardian dogs are working well for you.
@@gregjudyregenerativerancher Ha, you're most welcome. I don't think I could ever fully repay you for all the patience, help and advice you've given to me over the years but I'll sure try. The sheep and the dogs are doing great. They're one of the great loves of my life. No matter how bad a day gets, I always look forward to going and working with them and getting a breather from everything else. My cattle are doing great as well, I wish I'd have been able to get them from you but I'll try to check that item off my wish list here in the coming years.
Great one Greg, I notice your crew are making some great students. You can see they been listening, they answer all your questions. Can't wait to see that pond full.
Crazy warm here 75 yesterday. Still growing forage, clover is beautiful the change in my land in one year is amazing I added my live stock mid summer it's a micro farm but big results.
Always moving forward, improving and learning. Then sharing with the rest of us. Thank you Greg, many things have been learned from your video content.
Our sheep do quite well on Kentucky 31 stockpiled fescue during the winter. Sheep flock do not get any hay all winter. Tried giving them a bale last winter in a snow storm, they refused to eat it, foraged for their food instead.
That's a beautiful pond you've got going there. You've shown us a "textbook example" of how it might be done. I'm wondering how many acres of pasture it'll be supplying? It looks like there will be just one watering station by gravity. Is there another downhill spot for another tank? Thanks
Capture the water on your land while it is still legal to do so, period. If you run out of water and the water company tells you to not water livestock with their water in severe droughts, your out of business.
Hey Greg an old video of yours showed up in my feed where you had some fly paper sheets up near the cow’s water tank. You seemed pretty happy with it at the time but I hadn’t noticed any fly paper in the videos this summer. Have you moved away from that?
He said in freezing weather they empty the tank and take it to the house and bring it back in the morning. Cattle drinking from it through the day usually provides enough flow to keep it liquid.
@@kiddfamilyfarmllc9962 No, he said in freezing weather they go down to the smaller 50 gallon tank. They do that so it's less wasteful to dump it at night. In freezing temps, they drain it and take it in at night so it doesn't tempt the cattle to want to drink. Then they bring it back the next morning and refill it. The hose doesn't usually freeze because cattle drink from it enough in the daytime to keep it flowing enough to keep it from freezing. Water flow into the tank is much harder to freeze because the pond water is is at subterranean temps and flowing water is much harder to freeze up. We get fairly nice winters here in MO. Sub zero winters up north and that probably wouldn't work.

On the subject of not spraying fescue, take a look at some of Greg's other pastures: th-cam.com/video/PEE3f2-eAB0/w-d-xo.html It's a jungle of warm season grasses, legumes and other good stuff, then fescue will be there in the winter.

So peaceful. I won’t mention the election at all, so watching this video makes me feel sane for a while. This is a beautiful site.
Thanks Sally!
Me either Sally. I’d rather see peaceable grazing animals any day. Cow patties over street patties any day. Lol

Excellent landscaping there Greg👍🏾👍🏾
No hippos’!!!!!! Classic 😄as always THANKS. God’s blessings to all at Judy Farm
We have all kinds of Ky 31 and I love it, stays nice and green into the winter and the cows love it.
Best thing since sliced bread!
@@gregjudyregenerativerancher Mr Judy will Kentucky 31 fescue grow well in Georgia?
GREG, thank you for sharing your WEALTH of knowalge with us!!
My pleasure!
I love to hear your suggestions and various tutorials even though I’m not a homesteader.
Grass sure is looking good there buddy....I just moved our cows on some nice green grass that's about 18 inches deep! So awesome!
Bet you have some happy cows on that green grass!
Thank you thank you Greg, Issac and Jan🙏 Love seeing the finished pond.

I’ve got ground I’m clearing from thick brushy growth, going to seed, then unroll a few bales over top of it

How well do the sheep do on Kentucky 31 fescue? Thanks Greg great information as always 👍🏻

They move cattle about twice a day, no need for any single pond to supply water to a huge area.

I haven't seen a kildeer here since I was a kid. I haven't seen a ring neck pheasant for years, either here in my part of Pa.
Pheasants need thick standing cover and a food source. If you have land to manage plant some switch grass in 6 foot rows.
Are they eating the fall leaves. Ours eat certain leaves that have green sploches
They certainly eat some of the leaves.

Just didn’t need it this summer. Not sure why.
Just wondering about your thoughts on Joe salatin deep bedding method during winter
We let our animals stay outside every day of their lives. We don’t have barns on our farms to do the deep bedding method.
What did it cost for a grazing land lease for your herd? How many heads of cattle on how many acres?
Saw your phone in the shadow what type is it Greg?
Samsung
I recently heard a butcher say that cattle that eat a primarily fescue-based diet the meat flavor is negatively impacted: it makes it taste bad.

What are the signs that they aren't adapted to fescue? Thanks
Rough hair coat, thin livestock, develop limps that will not go away, lose their tail switch, do not breed back.
Will the hose freeze up? I wonder if goats are like sheep in regards to water. Left you an email and voicemail.

That duct tape isn’t going to stay stuck, so what about putting a twist of galvanised wire over the tape.
He had rope tied around it under the tape...
